At the moment they think its near where others think Grove Street will be.. Go south on you're map where the glare is visible. Just above the Freeway there is some heart shape area with a lake in the middle ;-)

What you have drawn might be the Upper Hollywood Reservoir as seen in Google: Lake Hollywood Resevoir http://www.rockstarg.../screenshot/481
What you think you have drawn might be Echo Park Lake as seen in you're own screen Google: Echo Park Lake

Definitely the Upper Hollywood Reservoir, as it was talked about earlier on in the thread, that's what sparked my interest in trying to map this area.

why is nobody thinking that the map might aswell expand south of LS ? every map puts LS to the bottom of the map, there is this one road going south, but everybody just thinks it leads to a harbor...

i really hope there is more there...

In real life there's a similar large road leading just to the port, maybe there'll be a parody of the Queen Mary located there in the game. Geographically it makes sense for it to end there, and in the screenshots where we can see to the south of the city, you can't see anything further than the docks, so it does end right at the docks.

Yeah yeah, it's obvious that the map will end at the docks.
Every GTA city (at least since GTA SA) as been a fairly accurate copy of its real life counterpart.
Of course they modify some locations a bit but they always keep the general outline of the cities.
So no big area south of the docks, that's for sure wink.gif

So from what I'm seeing I am assuming the Map will be wider than it
will be tall.

It looks like the top/middle of the map will end with the Alamo Sea/mountains but to the left and right
it extends far out to other areas. yes? no?

Portola Drive = Rodeo Drive

EDIT : Uh ? I just noticed something. It has probably been said already but the image behind Michael's
head is a satellite view of the Vangelico Store.
I believe we can see from top to bottom :
- Beverly Hills City Hall and its small park
- a road
- the Portola Drive area with a rotunda building just like in real life

The Vangelico Store should be just left of that rotunda, right behind Michael's neck.

Also, that satellite view is a screen capture of the Eyefind Maps website (Google Maps parody)

user posted image

And we also have a small part of the map.
It's the real deal as I found the same roads on the blueprint map and therefore in mine :

Wow. It's not that they change much, in terms of overall geography, but these are excellent finds!

Hi Fido, I'm still working on my 3D map, and I noticed that on your map, the blue building in South LS has no name on the key. It's straight above Compton Courthouse. Could you confirm what it is? Thanks!

EDIT: Also, I notice that in this screenshot, you have a yellow building called 'Title Guarantee Building' which doesn't appear on the final map. Any reason why?

Could someone make a comparison map size to Liberty city, Vice city, and San Andreas to the map Of Los Santos we came up with? that would really help the prospective of the map sizes. Thank you.

It has probably already been posted somewhere, but I just found that the Sandy Shores sign is based on this Salton Sea State Recreation Area sign.

I'm pretty sure the Liquor pic was proven to be at the west end of Sandy Shores, facing west.
For the pointy hill in the east I think Kiwi's countryside map is more accurate than Fido's, look at the picture of the car driving past the windmills with the same mountain in the background.

I don't think that's too far off, but I think the map for V will is scaled just a bit too small here, and that while Kiwi's map is awesome, there is (I believe) a sizable chunk of countryside that we currently have no idea about. Look at how that map compares to RDR-- even if the map of V is sized correctly and isn't too small, there still needs to be more land that we don't see in order to make it 3.5 times as big as RDR. Also I think the Alamo Sea is quite a bit wider than Kiwi shows here (my only real beef with that map).

I think it's about right in terms of shape, but the scaling compared to the other maps could be off.

Yeah the GTA 5 scaling mostly comes from the size of the city, similar to how deff scaled it. GTAKiwi says himself that the countryside is more difficult to scale properly against the city.
But compared to the other maps, Los Santos will be pretty much that big, but Blaine County will be stretched further out north by about 1 mile or so.

With regards to the scale of GTA V, also see this post. And here is why I think the scale is likely to be correct.

Yes, that had been posted before (in fact, even before we had ever seen that sign in the game.) But as far as I can tell, the "THIS PARK IS CLOSING DUE TO BUGDGET CUTS" sticker is new, and it seems quite fitting.
