1722 Chastain Pkwy E‎
Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272

Is this house the inspiration for Michael's?

Check out the pink truck at 1738 btw tounge.gif

Might have mixed in a little 1787 Chastain Parkway East as well
^looks like Trevor was parked out front visiting

I compiled an image of comparisons to save everyone time:

Nice find!
Could be coincidence but they could have used it as an example.

Imagine your own house featuring as a main building in a video game tounge.gif

Not sure if this version discussed. I looked at the blimp promo shot again and I suddenly thought, if that race track is Hollywood Park IRL, what if that signature is not  'GAS NC', but ''CASINO'?

Yeah I did bring that up somewhere but not sure if anyone replied. icon14.gif

Oh, it's good you're of the same opinion.
Here is another view from Michael trailer:

@nwbpro, i think Sandy Shores is where Fido put it on the map. The mountain to the left of where you placed it looks too close in this shot
That's why I do not believe we see Sandy Shores in it. But, I could be wrong. Your map looks nice though. icon14.gif

UPDATE: you need to fix the Alamo sea (Why Almo?)
and why do you post so enormous image, do you have a 30' display? Looks pretty out-of-the-border with my 24'
Here I made clickable re-size for you (just copy it to your post and delete that outrage):

Thanks omawnakw,

I have changed the size of Sandy Shores picture :-)

I will also look at putting the town more out from the mountain.

I wish people could understand that the size of the screen doesn't mean anything. I have a 15" screen and this image doesn't strech the page. It's all about the resolution

What do you think about nwbpro's placement of Sandy Shores?

@nwbpro, thank you, did you see the discussion about Sandy Shores here, where were found the similarities between this two:
http://imageshack.us.../8455/941ct.jpg
http://img13.imagesh...shoresftrev.png
if so, did you take it into account and is it agreed to the location you painted?

Another similarity in East LA:
This buildings (the first one behind Centennial mills and the second one to the right of the first) look similar to the buildings in the Produce District (7th street market, American Apparel Factory, 1807 E Olympic Blvd on the other side of the S. Alameda street) http://wikimapia.org...roduce-District

@Eternal Moonshine, I believe the most popular diagonal nowadays is 20' or 22', modern tablets have at least theirs resolution, or even above that. I think nobody here have above 30' so no sense to post images fits no-one's screen. Yeah, maybe retina users would enjoy that.
Almost all who I know use standard resolution for the diagonal. Yes, pc displays slightly varying in ppi/dpi but not so much.

offtop_upd: and there is no sense to use non-standard resolutions anyways. the right way is to set proper dpi for the fonts.

I think central Sandy shores is near where the 'floating cactus' mast is.

The other part near the mountain train will probably be far enough away to be a different kind of place, but I don't know what it is.

Yes, I laid my eyes on it when the observatory screen-shot released, and I though maybe that structure next to the south of the Key Club and to the right (west) of The Standard Hotel is the Cathedral. Then I saw this screenshot (thank you, Fido):

And i assumed that maybe this grills on the wall could be slightly similar to this:

I know this thought is made out of thin air, that is why i didn't post it.
But what is that high object then if it is not the cathedral tower? I do not know. It is speculation.

That is really nice nwbpro!
I would love to see the whole map rendered that way.
But I must say I disagree with your placement of Sandy Shores.
I believe what you call Sandy Shores is just a trailer Park and for me, Sandy Shores is on the south bank of the Alamo Sea.

@omawnakw : I don't think this is the Cathedral.
In Franklin's trailer, during the scene with the subway canopy entrance, you can see that high object and it looks nothing like a clock tower.
I don't know what it is but it isn't the Cathedral.

EDIT : Also, awesome find with the Hollywood Park !
Both buildings, the casino and the large stands are in the game.
Check these buildings on the left of this screenshot.

@omawnakw
Thanks for replying but the screen you posted is over in Beverly Hills, whereas the Cathedral Of Our Lady of Angels is on the street above Los Angeles City Hall.

So i guess it could be quite close to "Los Santos City Hall" in the game. As we haven't seen the whole area there.

It's a very nice looking map I thought it was an official snippet when I first saw it.

The other thing is the very straight line into the mountains is a railway that disappears into a tunnel instead of bending left, the road to the right crosses underneath it somewhere and goes up the squiggly part.

I made a new calc and the map would be 236,5 square kms or 91.31 square miles, smaller than the last I posted. Because 1.06 IN GAME RDR KMS = 0.96 JC2 IN GAME KMS = 1.52 GTA IV IN GAME KMS

For me the map of RDR is the whole map, including unplayable areas R* never talked about this and in RDR the unplayable area is very important part of the map, is not plain water or void space, it is non sense to exclude unplayable areas, also GTA V will be a fully playable Island with jetfights, with this its needs a lot of space and is very balanced compared to my JC2 dimensions.

If we know one thing for sure, then that's that 1 km in RDR = 1 km in GTA IV = 1 km in GTA V (edited to add: and = 1 km in any other game, of course).

The full GTA V map should be around 8 by 10 kilometers (about 30 square miles).

QUOTE (RockStarNiko @ Thursday, Jun 6 2013, 11:11)
I am also wondering if the actual overall blueprint map is also a square, consisting of 7 x 7 grid squares.

If this were true then there is no way that the whole map could possibly fit inside 7 x 7, so maybe the blueprint does only show the city of Los Santos and SOME of Blaine County.

What makes me think it could be 7 x 7 is a few things

a) I look at the double sided map we got with GTA IV, the actual map on both sides does not cover the whole page. We need room for headings, key/legends, icons/logos etc.

b) 7 x 9 is impossible due to the dimensions, so maximum possible would be 7 x 8. I do not think 7 x 8 is large enough to fit the whole of the map on, considering we know the map will be "bigger than SA, IV and RDR combined with room to spare", especially if the area of the city is comparable to Liberty City and 3-4 sq miles.

c) Each of the 3 segments of the blueprint we saw were all of the city. If the blueprint map is of the whole map, they could have shown a small segment from eg the NE region or the NW region, but they didn't. A reason for this could be that they want to hide Blaine County, but why would they bother doing that at this stage, we have seen plenty of screenshots and trailer footage of Blaine County now and showing a small segment in Blueprint map would not have given anything away really. So maybe the reason is because the blueprint map shows the city and part of Blaine County, but not all of Blaine County and so not the whole map.

d) I think of the thought process the design team would have gone through when deciding to put together a blueprint map. Someone suggesting they do 3 x 3 inch squares and 7 x 7 grid squares seems more likely in my opinion when making a BLUEPRINT style map. It makes more sense than someone suggesting 7 x 8.

No, sorry, that doesn't make any sense at all.

The map is 21.5 x 26.75 inches. In other words, it has a ratio of 86:107.

7 x 9 (not perfectly square) squares at 123 x 119 px make a 861 x 1071 px map.

That's just too close to leave any doubts. That map has 7 x 9 squares.
