One thing that I don't think is getting enough attention is the San Andreas fault (presumably to be called something else in-game). Looking at the geography we're already aware of, the fault should be covered. So in what way does this play into the proposed maps?

Thanks to Alex for using his map of all highlighted buildings, its the clearest map I found for indicating my point

Looking at the map now where do people think the Atomic Tyres Blimp airport base will be? In real life it is located just east of the intersection of the Harbor Fwy and San Diego Fwy.

Taking that and applying it to GTA V's map, could be in two places in my opinion if Rockstar simply placed it next to the freeways.

This is just pure speculation and guesswork by me, but looking at the Blimp pre-order screen I reckon it the landing base wouldn't be any bigger than half the size of Echo Park's lake, looking at that area on the map, I have highlighted two circles in red where it may be, based on the fact the real life one is close to the Harbor and San Diego Fwy. In reality the Harbor Fwy leads to the western side of the Docks, or the Vincent Thomas Bridge's western side, so the western circle just south west of GTA V's Interstate 5 could be one place, or that little bit of land with no buildings north east of the interchange near downtown.

Pure speculation as I say, and there really should be a landing base as its pilotable, wouldn't be cool to somehow magically be in control of it, without entering it on the ground at a landing base.

Great work guys with the real mapping based on facts. biggrin.gif

You're probably right with the bottom left one, it even has the river going along it. (I'm not sure anyone's drawn that river yet, but it's there.)

It should be called the California Fault tounge.gif

That's what I was actually thinking, but didn't want to say.

Has anyone thought that maybe R* based the shape of the map on the shape of LA County?

It would be along that chain of 3 long hills across the middle of the map.

I have, but I'm not so sure now I've seen the real map.

Yea I just noticed the tiny white lines are streets too..
los santos will huge

'Fraid not. Look at the airport. Same white lines. It's just a texture, unfortunately. The smallest street we have seen are the two short ones in the top right, near the oval racetrack. They are cul-de-sacs.

Wow, were they really referring to those dots? If you think those textures are streets, well, you have no sense for scale.

Also, I'm expecting a major update on the LS map and reallife buildings from Fido (and others) in the next couple of days.

Yeah, I'm working on it but it's gonna take some time.
Don't expect something before friday at best.
Or maybe I'll post updates of my work so you guys can give me your opinions on the map.

Sorry about the double post but is there an unmarked version of this map?
Seems like the best resolution we have yet and would help me a lot to make my map.

I was going to ask but I saw it's in AleX AciD's signature.

I'm not sure about the lines you've drawn, but I think that there is definitely a network of streets in there that we can't see due to the resolution of the current version of the blueprint map. It's definitely not just a blank hillside-- that's what the blue topographical part are.

For an example of how much denser an area like Compton is than downtown, go to Google maps and check out L.A. Look at the size of the blocks downtown compared to the blocks in the residential areas in south L.A.-- the ghetto in L.A. just looks like a big clump, just like that area on the blueprint.

I am confident this area is a representation of the inglewood oil field. If you google map it you will see a network of unorganized paths.

This is where sunset boulevard is but there is a slight distortion in the map. The line shouldn't break in the middle, it should've been continuous. You can also see the distortion by looking at the little dots that form squares, they do not match.

The thing is why would they dedicate such a huge area to just an Oil Field? Im sure there is a few Oil Wells in the area, but not that whole area highlighted.
