Interesting. Los Santos founded in future San Andreas during a time when in our world we were still fighting the Revolutionary War (or even before)?

EDIT: Apparently so, Los Angeles in the real world was founded in 1781 as well.

Also going off topic slightly but that's a good point, I doubt though that they would make it before the Declaration was signed so its probably after that. So possibly could be 1781/91.

*EDIT* I should learn to wiki things, yeah you're right so it probably 1781 then.

The US Declaration of Independence and Revolution had no bearing on the founding of LA. California was governed by Spain at the time. Los Angeles was founded by Spanish missionaries and explorers.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I don't have a in depth knowledge about the history of LA so apologies.

very good question. considering that pic, all the countryside is at the bottom and the map all guys are posting is flipped. los santos is at the top and Countryside on the bottom

I flipped the map so logo The City of Los Santos is not upside down. No, countryside is not at the bottom but at the top of map and you can see it here: user posted image

Theres almost no space at the top. Alamo sea has to be there and that means its way too small and the bottom with only water would be way too big.
Just look at it again. I guess the map was made with photoshop so they did not thought about that

What about the blueprint just shows LS, not the whole map. As said before.

Then more than half of the paper would be empty space. And description says LS and blain county

There's a lot of countryside north of Los Santos/Vinewood

Edit: wait! Vinewood is at the top of the city, is it not? Lol I don't even know where the vinewood sign is, I only assume it's to the north...

Not necessarily. Blueprints mostly contain enlarged areas or additional mapping, like canalisation info or something like that.
Examples:
http://www.etsy.com/...c-blueprint-map
http://memory.loc.go...00014.jp2&res=3

Best example:
http://memory.loc.go...00329.jp2&res=3

Seeing one third of that map and the rest of it being rolled up, it does not tell you anything about where land mass would be located or how big it is.

I think it will be as Link@kill said. At the front page there will be only zoomed los santos and possibly some island or possibly there will be Blaine County zoomed villages, because if there is map of whole San Andreas at the back page and Los Santos is small there, then other villages like Sandy Shores or so will be small too. So possibly there will be zoomed villages at the empty space under Los Santos. And on the other side of map there will be whole map.

nice work. I wonder if they'll show us the map before the release, since they already showed just about all of LS in the SE/CE Add.

Just a quick heads-up I didn't see mentioned before:

Most of the mappers here are aware that CVG mentioned LS to be approximately 1/8 or 1/10 of the total map. Well, I saw a more recent CVG video (same guys), , and they mentioned (around 57:30) LS actually to be approximately 20-25-30% of the total landmass .
It's a huge difference with their previous statement, and I think that, for instance, this makes GTAKiwi's new map pretty accurate (scale-wise).

To make things even more vague, they also mentioned that they only had a ~200 degree view of the whole island. So they saw Franklin skydiving, and then the R* guy made the view limited. Based on multiple previews I'd say they were shown Mt. Alamo, the Alamo Sea, and the view on the Vinewood hills and LS in the distance. So the entire Eastern and Northern regions were hidden. It could be that their '1/4' was estimated only on the landmass THEY WERE SHOWN. Perhaps they still meant 1/8, but converted it to 1/4 because they had only seen half of the island.

Hey guys is there a chance we might see the Toretto house in some neighborhood with a black Dukes in V's Echo Park as a easter egg/referance to where Fast & Furious was filmed?

^ Could be an easter egg. It would be pretty cool to drive past and all of a sudden see that. I'd be pretty happy with that especially since I'm a big FnF fan myself. There is a lot of potential for R* to put a lot of easter eggs in GTA V so we'll see.

So San Fernando Valley is pretty much non-existent in GTA V? Also anyone have a clue where the road/highway that has been cutoff at the bottom of the GTA V blueprint will lead to? I'm thinking Harbor City/Terminal Island type of area.

Yea it ain't that hard. All they have to do is:
1. Put that model of that house in some street in V's Echo Park.
2. Put a Black Dukes (Charger R/T) in the driveway of that house.
3. Have that house in a Spanish neighborhood.

They could even feature a character like Dominic Toretto because of all the Heists and Car Customization Shops in V. (What Dom does in F&F).

Looking at the revealed section of the map i see R* have completely left out rancho palos verdes. I thought it was a kind of an iconic area with some great scenic cliffside views and houses. Shame its not in.

So i did my best on positioning the screenshots on LS map:

user posted image

NOTE: the yellow ones i am not sure, on the rest, can't be too far off target smile.gif

Also, there are a LOT of stills from Trailers that i could try to position in future, but i can not promise.

I hope it can help someone on understanding better the city wink.gif and feel free to comment and/or correct me tounge.gif

19 might be correct for you but 22 is defs where you have put 19...........there are posts on it earlier- 22 in your map is in the wrong place- its needs to be where 19 is.........

@mawerick_mc i think you're slightly wrong about 15. This helicopter takes off at the Covington engineering services where blitz party mission and supposedly some other mission starts. Area you marked 15 is the place where Gruppe truck attacked by Franklin in the Blitz Party mission. No way the mission starts in that point. Vernon water tower you can see near Covington ES is located more to the north and slightly to the east. Covington ES is located to the east of Vernon water tower. Centennial mills in this shot located on the fourth wide road crossing the river if counting from the south. Check out my Blitz Party mission map http://www.gtaforums...entry1062559609 , it is hard to identify the location of Covington ES precisely so i did not put it on the map.

Aahh i think i should make an illustration of what i said..

@AleX AciD, great if you are correct about sierra tower it will help to locate Vernon water tower (at least the one near Centennial mills if there more than one) and all connected objects more precisely.

'Fraid not. Look at the airport. Same white lines. It's just a texture, unfortunately. The smallest street we have seen are the two short ones in the top right, near the oval racetrack. They are cul-de-sacs.

Wow, were they really referring to those dots? If you think those textures are streets, well, you have no sense for scale.

Also, I'm expecting a major update on the LS map and reallife buildings from Fido (and others) in the next couple of days.

something is fishy... why did R* even reveal part of the map... they could just say that there is a map in the special edition and dont show it at all... i think that there is a even bigger map on the backside that shows the whole map(but im totally fine with the size we assume it to have).... i think we have to wait till the official website update which will hopefully show the outline of the whole map....

Yes, for some roads they have used a black line with white borders, but others are white with black borders. Without a huge amount of analysis, just from looking at a few shots, looks like these may show elevated roads/overpasses.
