If it's anything like the old games all runways will be fixed to 90 degree and 45 degrees Compass Points, so I rotated it a bit further to match that, it seems to fit better now.

If R* is following aviation rules the runway should be positioned in a 210/30 degree direction.

Anyone able to place that scene from trailer 1?

(Edit: And that hill in the background... is Malibu Hill?)

I really think that "airstrip" people keep referring to (in the aerial shot) is just a small town, one of the ones we've seen a few times with the mountains close by.

I'm also wondering if the second image below might be a match:

It looks probable that the location of the shop where Michael is beating up some guy is right next to the highway scene from the first trailer. You can make out

CODE
North
Los Puerta Fwy

on the right most sign. The left most sign is unreadable but has about the same number of words as the one in the highway scene. The middle sign is also unreadable, but it looks a lot like the one from the highway scene.

The church in this Franklin trailer shot is without a doubt the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills. In the foreground you can see what is definitely a subway entrance. I'd be surprised if that doesn't mean a working subway system in V. Couldn't find a subway station in LA that looked like that, but did find this image of a new canopy for all LA Metro entrances: http://brighamyen.co...81f93520282.jpg

It could be based on that.

Well Sandy Shores is based on the reallife Salton Sea State Recreation Area, as stated on page 448. So it's very likely to be located somewhere on the shore of the Alomo Sea tounge.gif .
I mentioned yesterday that it could be the unknown 'trailerpark' we have seen on previous screenshots. I didn't provide any screenshots to back it up, so I tried again after seeing the discussion again.
As mentioned earlier, the red cirle could very well be the region with the train bridge, making this screenshots orientation NW. To the left of this screenshot could be Mt. Zancudo. The amount of telephone poles and palm trees (more visible in the trailer) give me a feeling it is the region in the second screenshot. The road textures in the first screenshot looks like a dirt road intersecting with a main road. So, from the moment you leave Sandy Shores at the sign, you're crossing a bigger road. I marked a possible region in the second screenshot (green) where I believe this entrance could be.
Again, it's a bit far-fetched.

Nice spot! BTW, has anyone noticed how many of the houses we've seen have had individual numbers?

The number on the runway always represents the heading with the last zero omitted. The runway in the trailer has 21 printed on it, which means 210 degrees.

I made a mistake yesterday, I thought that the motel was in Desert Shore (west seaside of salton sea) but it is in North Shore

Trevor seems to live in North Shore (Sandy Shores)
the liquor store, the Gas station, the motel, the recreation area sign (sandy shores sign) : all of these are in North Shore (Google map Wikipedia)

I've added google maps link to my previous post

It looks very similar to the Waterfront-SEU Metro station entrance canopy in Washington, DC. Also, is that a map behind it?

That would be the only logical place to put a map.

It's also visible (the glassy thing) in this shot, right above the steering wheel.
EDIT: There does seem to be a square board right beneath Michaels left brake. It's about the height of a person and could very well be a subway map. Unless we're getting new preview screenshots in this area, I guess there's no way to confirm it. user posted image

And another one on the right. Like second entrance. I definetly think this is some kind of underground station. In the new trailer we can also notice ticket machine.

But I'm affraid this could be the only station underground, just like it was in San Andreas.

Here's an album with all relevant shots from the new trailer (click on the image below). ZIP file here (HD stills, 8 MB).

Good find, didn't see that. If it's symmetrically placed as its counterpart, then that would suggest (well, to me, atleast) that the tracks run parallel to Michael's road. I made a quick sketch in paint.
I'm going to look at new downtown shots for more entrances. Still just a hunch, though..

I love how they are only showing us small portions of the map. I enjoy learning stuff about the game, but nothing tops the surprise factor when you toss the disc in the tray and start exploring! Keep up the excellent work in this thread. icon14.gif

Same mountain?

Yes, could be! The two ascending ledges, and the trees, are actually quite distinct.

Personally I think this is the very large mountain north of the Alamo sea, and is what I believe to be Chiliad.
