Four tall structures on the far left. I know it's a long shot... but this one would kind of support such structures at that location.

Edited to add: The image above has one nice property: it's looking almost exactly south. It can help us construct, for example, the exact position of the western pylon of the Vincent Thomas Bridge.

Edited to add: I'm also surprised we haven't found these two yet... especially since the one on the right seems to have a rather distinct facade.

Nice map smile.gif , although looking at it quickly i would suggest you look at screen 36 again (with the 2 protags), as it shows the beach, yet your placement and viewing range on your map does not include the beach, also the docks(or airport whatever it is) stick out past vespucci beach, not level with the beach. As seen here:

Still trying to find Franklin's house...

What I see in the interior shot is a most likely rectangular room that has a balcony/walkway with an unusual ~45 degree angle/bend.... which is obscured by Franklin's gf, but the bit to her right continues straight towards the bit with Chateau Marmont, as you can see by taking a closer look at the shadows on the balcony floor.

Which means that First National Bank (the tower to the right of her head, almost lined up with the Roosevelt/Von Crastenburg Hotel on left of her head) and Chateau Marmont form, very roughly, a 90 degree angle... and that should help determine the position of the house in other shots.

The one marked with the tiny arrow is the best bet I can make. I wouldn't go so far to claim that in the last image/close-up, one can see the same combination of 90 degree and 45 degree angles, but then... who knows.

The shape of that building is interesting:

Would that mean that here, we see both buildings from the original screenshot, one behind the other?

Well, 5200 West Century seems to be the closest match for now.
Its location is kinda weird though, as it is fairly close to LAX in real life while it's just south east of Downtown in Los Santos.
I have the feeling that East LS is gonna be messier than the West of the city.

Looking at "41 Dam" and "06 Hollywood Boulevard". The way the Roosevelt Hotel and the First National Bank are lined up, it's easy to see that the dam must be to the left -- but not extremely far further to the left -- of the bit of mountain at the far end of Hollywood Boulevard. In the Observatory shot, I'm pretty sure the blue and yellow points are the same, and that the orange point is in fact the end of the outflow from the dam.

I have to admit, the satellite image with 5 kind-of-matching buildings is by far the best argument for the skyline thesis that I've seen.

I still don't believe it though. I don't think the lack of horizontal textures (floors, windows) can be explained by fog alone, I don't see how the perspective (see second image) would allow for 20-storey buildings, I'm quite certain we've seen at least one of these structures before (see here), I still believe that with regards to the exact location, the signs (C1/C2) are the best clue we have, and finally... am I the only one who thinks that in the third image, it looks like there's something written on the two rightmost structures? (Could be a "1" and a "3".)

The only explanation I can have to defend the Long Beach skyline theory is that the lack of detail on the building could be its LOD texture.

As much as I want San Diego, and as surprising as some buildings match up, I'm very sure there is no San Diego in the game.

The Long Beach skyline is more plausible, since it is part of the LA Metropolitan area.

Yeah since the statement of R* focussing on one large city in GTA V I doubt that, too. But I think it's not impossible that a re-creation of San Diego is in GTA V.

Technically, South Central was renamed South LA so since there is a district called South LS in the game, it's technically there.

That Ocean Towers is actually that building ?
I still think it is really Ocean Towers.
However, I'm starting to have doubts about those two isolated buildings north of Santa Monica.

They are Ocean Towers and we were right since the beginning I'm sure.

I'd say apart from the airstrip and molotov cocktail scenes, and probably the blue donut mountains in the plane+river shot (since yellow pentagon mountain is missing), I'd agree with most of it.

Ah, and my own compass differs by 45 degrees...

Edited to add: Unless Baldwin Village is the area east of Baldwin Hills. Then you could argue that the street may be based on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (same street lights, similar types of buildings, runs towards the Coliseum/Sports Arena, and the street below based on Exposition Blvd (has the train tracks, similar types of buildings, runs in parallel). But I haven't found any exact matches yet.

OT: I think those are the same places. In the bike shot and the shot with the Dewbauchee on the truck, the same building with red striping is there.
