Sterling work with the map, kiwi. I look forward to seeing it expand even further as/if R* releases new information.

Nothing new... but still, it's stunning how clear they become.

Maybe it's time to share some image manipulation tricks? I know how to decrease brightness, increase contrast and shift hue, I see why sharpening filters that remove Gaussian blur can be a good idea, but that's just about it.

By the way... is this one just an accident?

Looks nearly perfect!

However, Los Santos should be 2x larger (in pixels) than how it is in here...
Can someone make Los Santos bigger?

Where is that located in real life? We've been trying to pinpoint that location since the release of trailer 1.

I'm thinking that Trevor is at the far end of the lake, and the mountain (Mount Pyramid) would put the liquor store there too.

"2x larger" is a good guess. But maybe it's possible to estimate the scale of both maps (like pixels per meter) more precisely?

One thing I read on this forum, even though I think it won't help yet, is that highway lanes in GTA are 5 meters wide (a bit wider than in real life, to allow for a more reckless driving style).

Also, I see that LotusRIP hopes for the Oxnard/Ventura region, NW of Los Santos, to be in the game -- but that part is pure fiction, so far.

One thing I actually quite liked about the original map was the green/yellow line that separated knowns from unknowns.

So before you put *a lot* of work into this... think about it.

they must have only showed us a very small part of the map, or its so small that you can see the same landmark in every screen.

Ok, so since this one is going to be rediscovered again and again (and rightfully so!), let me just add two bits of trivia:

- It's the first result for "Salton Sea Liquor Store" on Google Image Search.

- The photo also shows the gas station from Trailer 2. You just have to flip it around.

Indeed. I had seen the gas station lurking there.

Clearly, RockStar took some creative liberties (like they do with everything), but it's painfully clear that this is where this setting is based on.

in GTAV: near the cell phone tower, there's the radio telescopes and near the radio telescope, the snack bar. So the snack bar is close the cell phone tower.

Both the bar and the tower are great finds! (It's amusing that R* had to change the colors, same for the gas station, because the real buildings didn't look realistic enough.)

Two questions: Do you have any idea where exactly that bar would be, in relation to the V shape of the satellite dishes? And: can you place this one, too?

In other news, I continued the game you suggested, but "Salton Sea Rocket" didn't yield any good results. I actually think that if that thing existed in real life, we would have found it by now. "Salton Sea Aliens" gave me the site below. Road and train tracks are both there, but the rocket is very different, much crappier than the one in the game.

Probably combined, since the dishes are much much closer to Los Santos.

This actually could be Rockstar's take on Tehachapi, near the Mojave. Dunno about the rocket ship, though. The closest thing I could find was the Rocket Shop Cafe, in Bakersfield: http://www.rocketshopcafe.com/

Of course there's wind turbines in buggy scene and the damn power line was in front of the sats in the truck scene! facedesk.gif SOB! lol I like doing this sh*t, but wow am I horrible at it.

Cheers.

edit: it's seems like I'm contradicting (with what I said above) my other post about the buggy and truck scene being the same. But I started doubting later 'cause of the power line and the orientation of the sats from the truck view and buggy view in that they were different. It's obvious they're the same area. It's still not obvious to me though that the bar scene and the sign (from buggy and plane scene) are the same. It doesn't matter though. Seems as though you people are on the right track anyway. I'll just f*ck up out of here now. Hehe.

Hey guys !

I finally uploaded all the images with the buildings identified in the various screenshots.
You can view them on the following album :
GTA V Landmarks & Buildings

Latest added buildings are :
Coast Savings Building
Millenium Biltmore Hotel
Title Guarantee Building

I also updated the first post to add the amazing map by GTAKiwi and a few names to the list of contributors.
I couldn't remember everyone so if I forgot you, just say it here on the thread or PM me.

I'm gonna update my map again because I forgot to (re)do the Vespucci Canals area and the Wilshire Boulevard.

I'll also compile a list of still unidentified buildings that I think we should focus our efforts on.

About the countryside theory of the last pages, I admit I haven't been following closely what you guys found today but after a quick look, that looks promising.
If someone could do me a summary of what happened today, that would be sweeeeeeeet wink.gif

Yep - my bad. I meant to provide another view of the same thing, not suggest it was a different rocket ship. biggrin.gif

Otherwise, I'm outta suggestions. Unless someone from Rockstar has been in San Fran lately and stumbled across the Raygun Gothic Rocket Ship:

I tried to sum it up here. The bottom line is that a lot of what we've seen so far seems to be geographically connected, including such exotic places as Grapeseed. And we don't just have visual "proof", we even got a map!

That would be great. Also, last time I checked, there were still a few identified but unmarked buildings. Will check again...

Also, not sure if you're planning to include Blaine County shots as well. There are quite a few now for which we got names/addresses and photos of buildings.

Edited to add: Oops, the fantasy map has made it to the first post. Should be one of the originals instead (+ full size).

Maybe it's also worth adding there that the maps show Los Santos and Blaine County, and not the full game.

Has anyone identified the location of Michael's house from the air yet? In the first shot of the second trailer it show a large block overlooking his house, I can't tell which one it is.
