I don't think your red line is correct, they don't match in both screenshots, it should be a bit more to the right on the bottom screenshot (outside the screenshot).
The red line as you have draw it in the first screenshot is, i believe, this part: http://media.gtanet....fullsize/11.jpg

So the waterfall (cannot be seen at this angle) is actually connected to the sea/lake?

That was just a wild guess, but if you look at the Zancudo river screenshot on the right side you can see a mountain, a gap, followed by another mountain. We can see the railroad enter the first mountain so when the railroads come out of there there needs to be a bridge to connect it to another mountain, unless the railroad suddenly turns left which we can't see cool.gif

Yet again, that was just a guess.

^^^ A heavily modified version of Mellon Bank Center, probably with elements from the Gas Company Tower (cladding notably).

Here's a quote from today's IGN article that may help piecing shots together:

QUOTE
Trevor, after driving along the dusty roads of Blaine County, past Mount Chiliad towering in the distance on the other side of the Alamo Sea, pulls up on the side of the road and grabs a tank of gasoline from the back of his pickup truck. He then tips the jerry can upside down and pours a trail of gas that leads to the truck. One strike of a match later and BOOM! Fire engulfs the vehicle while Trevor stands back and admires his handiwork.

Edited to add:

QUOTE
We play out the first part of the mission as Trevor, flying the chopper with Michael riding shotgun. From above the Los Santos skyline looks nothing short of beautiful, the monolithic skyscrapers cutting dark, ominous silhouettes against the orange cloud-kissed sunset. To the east itís possible to just make out Del Perro pier and beyond it the ocean, while to the west there are the rolling hills of the countryside.

(Note that east and west got mixed up.)

Mellon Bank Center

The two buildings look very different from the trailer to the screenshots! The trailer showed the color scheme of the building in blue, while in the new screenshots the building has a color scheme of a brownish look. And I also think Rockstar has added their twist to the building as it does appear to have 4 layers smashed together. smile.gif

Oh wait! I think thats a train tunnel! biggrin.gif . the bridge in the second shot is a train bridge and the road leading up to the tunnel in the first shot is actually a train track. So that would mean that the Zancudo river curves around the mountain and goes down the waterfall under the bridge. biggrin.gif (would be easier if i could make a diagram.)

Haha, looks like i was right about the train tunnel.

There are some really killer new screens out. I won't be surprised if Rockstar just give us a map soon biggrin.gif

Does anybody know what the bridge in the far distance is. Is it in any other screens?

Looks like the Bixby Bridge to me.

I updated the Downtown area on my map.
Tomorrow, I'll update the coast area, mainly Santa Monica, Venice and Marina Del Rey.
I'll see what I can do about the southern anrea, between the Marina and the Harbor.
From what I've seen today, I believe the airport is located north of the Harbor, between the Harbor and Downtown but much closer to the harbor.

Definitely looks like it to me. That could imply that this shot is due east of the Pacific Ocean, north of Los Santos.

It appears that this was taken midday, as object shadows are falling more or less directly below the objects. Kinda makes verifying image direction a little tough.

For the first time, we can see the Vinewood Sign, the Hollywood Bowl and the Griffith Observatory in the same shot. They are on an almost straight line.

Yup and I dont know if this has been mentioned but in the Vinewood sign, the sun is again on the horrizon. This suggest that These buildings are To the north or slightly Northwestish of the City.

This is what The Guardian has to say about the GTA V geography:

QUOTE
Like LA itself, Los Santos is a patchwork of neighbourhoods with a downtown area, a gang-infested southern district, and the prosperous areas in the hills. But the game world extends out into the fictitious state of San Andreas, Rockstar's interpretation of southern California. There are farmlands, deserts, villages, mountains; there is even a functioning ecosystem teeming with wildlife. Trevor lives in a stinking shack out in Blaine County, a deserted coastal region, modelled on California's Salton City.

Personally, I found *this* to be much more exciting news:

Found this interesting...

"Trevor lives in a stinking shack out in Blaine County, a deserted coastal region, modelled on California's Salton City."

In real life Salton Sea is well inland so maybe this suggests the map is in fact an island and not borderd by endless mountain/desert...

I think the explorable oceans also probably point to this.

(Found in a topic comparing V and SA.)

If it's the same location, downtown is way closer to shore than in San Andreas and on Fido_le_muet 's map...

To me it looks a lot like the area we've seen earlier today. That would be "Alamo Sea, Blaine County", based on the Salton Sea.

This ATV shot as you may have noticed, seems to be taken from the other side of the salten sea lake compare to the new IGN shot of the lake.
Top left you can see the mountain and the settlement/roads from the first picture..

oh c'mon is a completely different environment from salton sea. I think that the sea will be in the middle of a desert like area.

This is a mountain lake. Talle trees, mountains is probably above the sea level.

The screenshot of trevor shooting the man in the lake is probably taken from the other side of the lake, you can spot the zancudo river mountain and the mountain show for entire in today ign screenshot
