What is so important about different police cars exactly? I don't understand why people want new ones so bad.

why do you want a new map? why do you want new vehicles? why do you want new weapons?
here is the same, variety

Also...being that it's cop vs. robber you want to have modern realistic police vehicles to add a level of realism.

How do you explain the popularity of LCPD:FR videos and the mod?

There is a market for realistic police cars and policing techniques.

Cheers.

Exactly. The techniques. LCPD:FR is popular because of what the player does with the mod and not what car he drives. Sure, there are people who prefer super-duper realistic and modern emergency vehicles, but there are also a lot of people who prefer other things.

This forum does not 100% have to do with Law Enforcement features. Over the past year, and within these hundreds of pages, Fire & Rescue, EMS, as well as Government Services have been discussed just as much as what the original topic was formed to be.

I wonder why R* put grill lights in the artwork but not in the game. Not enough memory?

They always do that. Take a look at the police car in this picture. The police car has grille lights and graphics that never showed up in the original, unchanged game. It's most likely something that they do to excite people.

I think it'd be good if there was a classic police car somewhere, such as a 50s Dodge;

It would be a nice little bonus, especially if it had working lights and sirens!

Most likely answer is that their artists are simply told "draw a police car that kinda looks like this" and they add their own artistic flourishes.

Yeah, i'm actually happy with most of what I've seen in terms of law enforcement,we'll have to wait for more screenshots or another trailer to see the progress on the vehicles, the only thing that's bothers me is the fact that the Ambulance has dummy lights that don't light up(at least the one in IV and the 3 gen didn't). I just feel like it's not a real ambulance if it doesn't light up like a Christmas tree. The firetrucks in IV were a major improvement though. I also hope you can turn on the warning lights on garbage trucks and other city vehicles.

You won't see one of those tractors. As for the ambulance, they can do it. Take a look at all of the vehicles in Saint's Row as far as lighting. All of the lights functioned, as well as the turn signals, they would operate without the siren when the vehicle was driving, as well as parked, and most of the orange/amber lights from the Public Works vehicles worked too. Yes, I agree with you, the firetruck was a major improvement. That's probably the biggest interest of mine in the whole Emergency Vehicle Fleet. The one I spotted in the picture of Michael repelling down the building looked to have an International cab. I couldn't tell much for sure. In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the truck had a lightbar, because it was based off of LAFD, now, look at GTA: IV. You've got your standard FDNY lighting concept with three lights in the front, two of which are intersection lights, and then the others in the back were good. Although the rear ones could've been red and amber. The only eff up that they made was putting the pump on the officer's side, rather than the driver's side, as well as adding the two mini-lightbars above the rear doors. This leads me to believe that they will go with the LAFD single lightbar again, as well as add two lights of either amber or amber and red in the rear. Possibly they will be LED's in the front, since they are adding them, and then the rear lights will either be strobes or halogen rotators. As for the 1950's Dodge, I love it. I own 5/7 seasons of Adam-12, and I own all 7/7 seasons of EMERGENCY!, both of which are based in the late 1960's to mid 1970's. So you could call me an expert with classic, vintage, and antique emergency vehicles. Anyway, I was thinking that they could perhaps have some sort of museum, where you've got your classic Crown Fire Engines, the Dodge, Bel Air, and Chevy patrol cars with the old SWAT Van from the TV show based in that time, as well as perhaps a Cadillac Ambulance. These would all be great additions to the game. I would love to see them add old gumball lights and Growler sirens.

Well, in some of the V screens you can see grill lights and side mirror lights. Hopefully they keep all that stuff in this time.

Do you think they will bring back the Armadillo from VCS as a Fire Helicopter in LAFD Colours?

Speed Enforcement/Interceptors would be boss, tooling across the interstate (freeway, seeing how we aren't going from state to state) would be nice, we had those unmarked Cheetahs in Vice City. ^.^ Those were epic. But then also in Vice City we had spike strips, I miss those. Cops were tougher back then I suppose. wow.gif

I never realized how many tools the police had until I saw the pics from the Boston manhunt.

We don't even need the military anymore for 6 stars. Those SWAT guys look exactly like military soldiers in those camo fatigues. I'd like to see more of this sort of serious equipment, all we had in GTA IV was the Enforcer and the NOOSE tank which wasn't even used by the cops.

Actually, the National Guard was helping during when the neighborhood of Watertown was under lockdown.

Here's a couple suggestions...
The Carbon E7:
user posted image
and the Impala:
user posted image

I think these would suit the game rather well seeing the time it's based and plus it's a Grand Theft Auto, might as well have some fun with it, right? colgate.gif Although, the Impala's have been recalled due to faulty control arms but it's not like they'll be exact replicas ingame anyway, plus it's not often we see Impalas or lookalikes ingame,
And seriously, what's with all the hate on the light bars they were using in the trailers? They aren't THAT bad; I kind of liked them.
