Hi
I'm just discovered new bug on GTA III. You have no missions to do on very beginning of the game. And You're in prison outfit.
How to do this ?
When you starting new game and 8ball talking, spawn a lot of tanks (giveusatank cheat) and blow them up (bangbangbang cheat) when cutscene ends. Repeat it couple of times and it's gonna works. . If not, there is a save game:

And screenshots (Tank is always there, even if you reload savegame) (look at the hud - no missions, no thelephones, nothing; only savepoint)

I didn't know it's old. It was on a forum already?

Spawning Rhinos is not the cause...neither is blowing them up. The cause is the reaction the protagonist gets...i.e. being knocked down...when too close to the exploding vehicles. The mission fails for destroying the Karuma mission vehicle, but the movement action remains in memory when the game forces a restart. In order to activate the introductory mission, the player needs to spawn and fall to a specific spot on the bridge (you can actually hear his footfall landing if you listen close just before the cutscene starts). If a movement action is in memory, this specific location is not hit to begin the mission cutscene.

IMO it is very easy to accomplish by destroying the mission vehicle Karuma (such as driving up the center bridge divider and pushing it over) and fall to the street below just as the mission failure message appears onscreen. There's plenty of leeway here. The screen will be fading out as the protagonist picks himself up from the ground...and that movement action is carried through to the next game restart. The spot that the player was intended to be at is missed just slightly...so the mission cutscene does not begin and the Karuma does not spawn.

Stepping onto the spot (on foot) activates the mission, should you decide to complete some of the game in the meantime. The z-axis is ignored when checking the player's location...so the intro mission can actually be started by walking below the bridge (!). It's kinda funny to see 8-ball looking down as he briefs the unseen player smile.gif

Another aspect is that the Portland safehouse door will be locked (since 8-ball is intended to open it for you). The safehouse IS usable, however, if you can force your way through the door or wall to get in there...and the door will remain open after that. Reactivating the mission cutscene will automatically relock the door, tho. Two other things that happen when restarting the game in this manner:

* you lose any shield that you may have and your health is reinitialized to 100% (any carried weapons remain, however).

* the game clock is rolled back to 4am on the current day.

The second point is interesting, since you can complete many of the side quests or tasks...then keep revisiting the spot before midnight and repeat the glitch to prevent the "# of days passed" stat from increasing. There's only 2 side tasks which cannot be done while "locking the clock" in this manner - the Unique Stunt off the bridge divider (which looks to be impossible to initiate in any way), and the Paramedic mission (which pretty much takes more than 20 hours on the game clock to complete all 12 levels).

Theoretically, it might be possible to initiate a movement action without needing to fail a first attempt (so you don't get a mission failure in your stats)...but I've had no success to figure out a way.

So have fun free-roaming LC in your prison jumpsuit (without cheating to get there) smile.gif

Any idea what makes the bridge's Unique Jump impossible to do? It's true that the wreckage gets in the way and takes driving fast over the center divider ramp pretty much out of the question...but even flying over the location in a Dodo refuses to activate the cinematic camera for that solitary jump (whether or not you touch the Dodo's wheels to the ramp as it's flown over).

It's disabled by the exe in this mission, probably to keep the camera from glitching since the scene is so close to it.
