Do you think Rockstar would even dabble in this area with such a long awaited game?

Just imagine the game in 3D

I hope they add some code so the 3d freaks get that option, but make it turned off by default, or they sell you guys a special version so the rest of us don't have an extra junk bundled in.

I myself get a head ache looking at 3d stuff.

Think your mom hates you gaining? wait till she walks up behind you and can't enjoy what she sees in the screen because it's all blurry.

Its unnecessary, never did understand the 3D hype, its purely gimmick. As long as its an option which can be turned off then I wouldnt mind it being put in.

It probably will have 3D support, Gears of War 3 does.

Although i don't have a 3D TV so i don't really care...

On one hand a GTA in 3D would be pretty incredible. I think about 3D with Red Dead sometimes; feeling the real depth of the world with that incredible draw distance... that really would be an incredible leap forward in the way we experience their already amazingly immersive worlds.

On the other hand I hope they don't include it (even as an optional feature) because then I'd have to buy an $800-1000 TV on top of the game cost. I bought surround sound just for Red Dead Redemption, you think I wouldn't go so far as to buy a 3D TV for GTA?

I can't use it but would be cool as an option for everyone else.
I'm waiting for emulsion layers like on hand held devices to appear on televisions with a wide viewing angle before I would ever consider a 3D tv. Those glasses are ridiculous and I'd hate to have to wear them with a gaming headset for hours. My wife would never let me live it down looking like a total pill doing that too (she already thinks the headset is not very cool). lol

Yes it is plausible and yes it is likely they will incorporate 3d.

I know, right? lol.gif

Of course it's possible..if Batman can have 3D, I'm pretty sure GTA could have it as a nice little feature..

But. The question is...will it blend?

If Silent Hill Downpour can be 3D then I don't see why GTA V can't be turn.gif

Enabling 3D is an almost trivial task. You have to add options for it, and test it across several different types of 3D hardware, which is a bit less trivial and more time consuming, but still very easy to do.

More importantly, there aren't that many good 3D games yet, and people who payed for 3D hardware will gladly buy GTA V just for that, even if they weren't planning on it. It's not a great fraction of sales, but it's a big enough to warrant the minimal effort that'd go into making it work.

And of course it's going to be optional. There is no question about it. So yeah, I'd say R* can and should do this.

Uh, IV had 3D on PC with NVIDIA 3D Vision, so I don't see why not.

3d is not that cool.
And the 3DS system is pointless and dont work like it says.

So no 3d.
But it would be cool to bring codes back into the game like flying cars and such.

I could care less. I mean it's cool if they do but I don't find 3D all that spectacular.

The PC version of L.A. Noire is announced to support 3D so it's pretty likely the PC version of GTA V would. It doesn't really have anything to do with the design of the game, it's just another rendering mode on hardware that can handle it.

There are 2 ways to make a game 3D, there is a cheap aftertouch way of doing it (common games), and there's making the game with it embedded into it's DNA (GT5)

I originally thought 3D was cool, but as one poster put it, 3D is more of a "gimmick" than anything. The 3D demos I have experienced creates a picture with depth that appears exaggerated, like a pop-up book. Reality doesn't look that way to the naked eye. If R* does include 3D, I certainly hope that they don't sacrifice other game aspects to make room for the coding.

I wondered if R* would employ the Kinect sensor on the 360 version for use in creating a custom character that looks like YOU if so desired. If done well this would be a cool way to put ourselves into the game.

Is that really the right way to describe the technology? Grand Theft Auto III was the first Grand Theft Auto game with full 3d support so what the hell is going on. Seriously? *confused as hell*

I was referring to the colloquial definition of an artificial perception of depth by targeting 2 separate images to each eye of slightly separate viewing angles of the same scene. I was assuming, given the saturation of the term in various forms of media and common vernacular that the average reader would be able to infer my intended meaning. However given the nature of posting anything on the internet there is always the potential for misunderstanding either unintentional or intentional in attempt to lull others into a confrontation. For ease of conversation I shall assume the former.

I don't really care I'm not going to use it either way. I already spent the last couple of years dropping a bucketful to upgrade to HD, so I'm not in any hurry to upgrade to 3D.
