How do you want the control scheme of GTA 5 to be like? Similar to GTA 4 or like Red Dead Redemption?

As far as I can remember, GTA IV and RDR have almost identical control schemes, except for RDR's radial weapon select and the obvious differences between horse and driving controls.

RDR has the best controls ever imo, so I'd love for them to make a return in the next GTA.

They should keep the lasso as well. tounge.gif

Yes, the controlls were good in RDR. They should keep lasso! If you steel it from a western musem.

I see no reason for a weapon select wheel unless the protagonist in the next GTA is wearing his weapons on him, visibly, like in RDR.
The D-pad weapon select system in GTA IV is a lot faster imo.

The RDR weapon selector is unlikely to become a RN fixture, we're talking about RDR, a Rockstar San D game.
I don't mind it at all though, it becomes second nature if you spend time playing the actual game. Anywho, I think RN's GTA controls are the GOLD STANDARD of controller layouts for all games ever devised with controllers in mind, ...with the CLASSIC option anyway ... PS or XBox

I liked the GTA IV/RDR control scheme, with the option of the classic controls( X to accelerate square to stop).

The best scheme for me is just the standard set up we had in GTA IV. I wouldn't want the wheel selection for weapons like in RDR, I much prefer the D-Pad select probably for the speed. A weapon slot selection menu like in RDR would be good though, to give extra space. Also, punching with triggers might be a nice change.

I'm happy with the controls how they are. Unless they add new features things are good for me. I would however like if they made you have to hold the jump/climb button to jump over objects and just tap the button to jump on it. I've jumped off many buildings' ledges because of that.

I think it would be great if they gave you the option to choose "Classic" or "New" controls at the start of the game. And you could change it in the menus also. And by classic I mean 3rd era controls and new is IV era

Having the options will likely be between the Classic and the Trigger style Accel/brake scheme. Being a PS user for GTA since the beginning and Xbox coming out and transforming the controller scheme of it's own system from XB to XB360, one cannot deny it became a LITTLE more like PS had all along. In fact my latest aftermarkey PS3 controller is designed just like an Xbox controller, and they are all there, most of the same dual analog/triggers, Dpad and 5 buttons on top of that. It's familiar to most all console gamers and it's good like that

Doubt this will happen, but I would like to fully map out my controls, individually choose what button does what. If not, I'll take the controls from RDR with the weapon wheel.

Why did you bump a thread that was made before GTA 5 was even annouced?

Idk, would you rather me start another thread with basically the same topic? If I did, people would say I need to use the search bar and a mod would lock my thread.

I just hope they don't use tap A for sprint. It's not that much of an issue but it's just cleaner to me to hold down a button

Yeah, or like on the PC where you just have to hold a button instead of tap it repeatedly.
