Never actually liked drawing portraits because it's so unoriginal. I only draw what comes from my imagination.

I made this little sketch of the Aston Martin Vanquish since I was inspired by the recently added Massacro.

Mechanical pencil.

My father is an artist, so I got a lot of "It's in your genes...You're lucky" etc.

I tell those people to go f*ck themselves, I've been drawing since I was 3 and practiced constantly to get to where I am, and if they were passionate about it, they could do the same.

Yes, it helped that I grew up in an art-friendly environment and my parents encouraged me to pursue something I loved, but to put it down to some sort of imaginary "inherited talent" makes me want to choke someone.

I definitely get what you mean here mate.

People have this almost insulting way of dealing with people who excel in certain disciplines. Everyone thinks that Einstein was just a genius who got lucky with his brain, but this is nonsense. Einstein was intelligent, certainly, but it took him decades to perfect his seminal contributions to physics. The man worked exceedingly hard to produce the results we take for granted today, and whenever people dismiss the likes of him as "lucky geniuses", it infuriates me. Hell, Ernst Kuemmer's probably the best example--his arithmetic/natural maths was utter sh*t, but with enough graft he proved some fundamental theorems in number theory and algebraic geometry.

I've been practicing my drawing a little and have improved a bit funnily enough, which only adds credence to what you've been saying, MURDOC. I've just been sketching simple stuff to relax. Most of it's just copied from elsewhere so I won't post any of it--it's also nowhere near the quality of anything posted here.

EDIT: I know people who are good at drawing and they often face the "it's in your genes" bullsh*t argument. However, when they draw you can really see how carefully they focus on what they're drawing and how practiced their eyes must be to maintain that. The "natural talent" argument is just thinly-veiled jealousy if you ask me

Well said my friend.

The way I see it, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

True with a lot of things.

Yea honestly. My father is a good drawing artist too and I got a lot of "You are good in drawing because your father's gene" from people.

That's seriously like saying "well, you're actually dumb, but you're smart because of your father."

My ass. I trained hard and still am to achieve the best in my forte, which is drawing!!!!

Hobby or interest may be descended from genetic, but not skill. Please, people...

I don't draw anymore, but I figured I'd share my best two hand drawings I ever made. Mind you, this was done over 10 years ago, probably before I even went to high school. I am no where near professional, so try not to give too much criticism.

mEbDcsI.jpg

This is one I drew of an eagle, the feathers aren't perfect, but hey, what do you want from a 15 year old?

I1hije5.png

This is one I drew of a TOY dinosaur, and I know I messed up the tail, but the head is perfect IMO.

how do you learn to draw, this is one of the only times I tried to draw an actual person, I did it last year but I gave up because I got bored.

I usually just draw weird stuff because it's quicker, I have hundreds of pages like this -

Didn't know that such a topic, exists but here you go, I've drawn these a while ago, at the moment I'm working on a picture of the shire (lord of the rings) with the highest detail amount I'm capable of.

Here I tried to copy some of Marcello Barenghi's work but obviously couldn't reach his perfection. He does shadows with airbrush for example, I do them with pencil and finger rub.

921646_409325952526838_372760883_o.jpg

On deviantART, I found a PC painted image of Khaleesi I liked very much, here's my pencil reproduction:

This was a private commission from a few years ago. I have mixed feelings about it; on the down side it looks too much like a photograph. Not good art.

On the up side I like the way the picture seems to tell it's own story.....

Well, my Grandpa is a artist since 50 years or sth, and you're as talented as him.
Of, his kind of draw is a little bit different, he e paints in many different types.

The point is, I respect your art so much, your talent... Not often such a talent like you.

I'm really serious about this.

Well, the favorite art of my Grandpa is totally this one (I saw it at his home, where nearly all pictures of him are, and I saw this and I was...

enthusiastic

(I put a Watermark on it with his name - So no one can steal it)

http://i.imgur.com/8w5rhig.jpg

And I just recognized there are some dammit grammar fails in my Post...
I hate to post long sentences!!!

Edit: Totally need to put you on my Respect List, just to show

that I respect you, and your work :)
