My favourite band would be Paramore (with Hayley Williams for favourite singer, of course) followed by Muse, Calvin Harris, Kanye West, Nirvana, LMFAO... I have a pretty open music taste otherwise.

Have Paramore released anything since Monster? As far as I know, that's all they've put out since half the band left early last year. I was a pretty big fan, but the new lineup seems to have dropped off the face of the earth.

My fav acts over time where I'd know all or most of their discography would be..

Beastie Boys
The Doors
Led Zeppelin
Aphex Twin
Kraftwerk
AIR

I'd have every album by all them except some bootlegs, maybe.

I don't think they have. Yeah, it sucks. But I still love listening to all their other stuff. And you can never tire of looking at Hayley. So I still enjoy them.

I'll have to conclude that Periphery are - at the moment - my favourite band. I'm also into Animals As Leaders, Protest the Hero, Tesseract and Trivum though.

On the other page I only listed my first favorite band, but here is my top five:

1. 808 State
Pacific 202 and Techno Bell are my second and third all-time favorite tracks.

2. Underworld
Very solid\consistent albums, at least the ones before the last one.

3. Jean Michel Jarre
Not a band, I know but a great artist, one of the pioneers of electronic music.

4. Kraftwerk
A band whose music (in my opinion) is still as great or better than\as in their early years which is not so common with bands in general.

5. Orbital
Another great band from the UK, still kicking ass to this day.
Edit: Unintentional rhyme lol.

Other artists\bands that I like very much but can't order them: 4mat, Jesper Kyd, Aphex Twin, Pendulum (sadly defunct now), The Prodigy, Giorgio Moroder, Boards of Canada, Daft Punk, Deadmau5, Cosmic Baby etc.

I like you.

Seen 808 State live a couple of years ago, Kraftwerk and Aphex Twin. All amazing gigs.

Was listening to Orbital on the way to work. They're playing here this year but I don't think I can make it. sad.gif

Also had some Giorgio Moroder pumping this morning. biggrin.gif

It has been a while since I last heard music from most of them, but I am heading in their direction after I finish listening to Prodigy (I usually listen multiple albums\discography from an artist at a time).

I have never seen any of them live, Kraftwerk did a live show in my country two years ago I think but the city they performed in is too far and expensive to get there. I think 808 State were here as well but I can't remember for sure.

Ha! Nice....

Hard to believe someone else likes AT, but then again this forum is outside the hillbilly locale I currently reside in.

I really like this track, pretty different from the rest of his stuff

Perhaps Ill try to address this threads question later.

If I had to pick a favorite band/vocalist it would be Faith No More/Mike Patton. The variety of stuff that they play is very cool.

OMG!! I LOVE that song!! That and "Stub (a Dub)" are my favorite songs on that record. They are fun to sing along with as well. (even though my singing voice is hideous. lol.gif )

Mr Bungle are brilliant!!

My favourite band overall would have to be The Rolling Stones though there are times when I enjoy listening to nothing other than the Doors, those two bands along with The Beatles, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, Nirvana and Kasabian are the only bands I listen to more than one or two albums by. I can't have a favourite singer because each one has their own sound so it really depends on what I feel like listening to.

I have a bunch of singers and bands where I'd have their whole discographies. Starting with singers...

Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode)
Jim Morrison (The Doors)
Freddie Mercury (Queen)
Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)

Those are my favourite bands along with;

AIR
Kraftwerk
Aphex Twin
Beastie Boys

Overkill is my favorite band.

As for the vocals it's kinda hard for me to pick one vocalist, because there are many great singers.

Favorite Singer: Phil Collins.

I've gotten to the point in which I truly believe that Phil Collins is a god. No, not a god, THE one and only God. His voice is absolutely magnificent and no one in my opinion can stand above him. No Jacket Required is my favorite of his albums, but I can't stress the fact that every single track I've heard from Phil (and even Genesis) has been exhilarating.

Favorite Bands: Into Another, Static X, Soundgarden, Pink Floyd

Into Another: As I've stated many times, I believe Into Another is the most unknown, unrecognized band ever. They may seem like a basic punk band to most, but if you really listen to their lyrics they're honestly sending a message or two. Seemless is my favorite album ever released. Even above Phil Collins please don't hurt me, Phil.

Static X: It may be the nostalgia of NFS titles, but I am a huge fan of Static X. Screaming right along to the lyrics makes my day every time and I can say they've released some pretty memorable music, even if it is because of NFS.

Soundgarden: They are also a group I haven't heard a single track from that I have disliked. The emotional lyrics of songs that few can find emotional is what keeps me coming back for more. They're Been Away for Too Long. It's great to see them again.

Pink Floyd: Presented with no further commentary needed. Pink Floyd is Pink Floyd. That isn't going to change. I need to speak no more.

For me it would have to be The Smiths. There's a lot of great music that has effected my attitudes and my approach to life, but nothing like The Smiths. People constantly fail at articulating this, but I'll do my best: the first time I saw a performance of This Charming Man, my entire concept of society crashed down like a house of cards, and doors I didn't even know existed were suddenly open. Why let myself be defined and constricted by my gender or my social class or anything else for that matter, when I could simply choose to float above it?

Why should I let myself be represented by a government or a society or another person's ideals when I'm perfectly capable of representing myself, and deciding for myself what is right and what is wrong? People could have their rules and systems and arbitrary standards, but I was f*cking that right off. Suddenly, I was an anarchist and I could see our society for what it was: a machine that robs people of their power and autonomy, convinces them they aren't inherently beautiful and competent and robs them of their right to opportunity, sound mental health and free creation for no describable reason. The world was wrong, I was right and I was now dedicated to making people see things my way.

Quite a lot to take away from an old recording of a rock concert, isn't it?

Brand New have been my favourite band for roughly 10 years now. Big influence on my tastes and general attitude to growing up - I suppose you don't really realise until you reflect back. But music is the only 'thing' that activly stimulates all of your brain at once!
Glassjaw in a close second - really boost me. Wrote a nice little column about them the other month too for my blog - if, of course, anyone else likes them: http://www.gavinshel...-come-home.html
