Besides modding, I write a lot of music, mostly rock/metal (I play in a band to, bass-player and 2nd vocals). There are some influences, for example Muse, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Pink Floyd, System of a Down etcetera, but seen the fact that these are kinda random I'd rather say that it's just my style of music that sounds like music from these bands.

Here's an example of a song which I recorded a few months ago. By recording, I mean plugging in my guitar/bassguitar in the microphone-input of my PC and recording it with Audacity (kinda provisoric). Seen the fact that I haven't got drums, the drums are computer-generated. When we're gonna play this with the band I'm in, it'll definantely get some lyrics.

I got more if you guys would like to hear it sigh.gif .

You can share some of your music here as well.

Also, the audio tape sounds pretty good. I like that kind of 'western' feeling you gave into it. Keep up the good work. icon14.gif

I like having my own topic smile.gif .

Here's a video of us playing a song written by me called "Rush". It's the first song written by me (bass, guitar, drums and lyrics) we brought into practice and were only playing it for four weeks or so. We had to send in a demo to be able to join a competition and seen the fact that we had only four weeks time to do so, the playing isn't smooth here and there. Also the sound is out of balance (too much bass) and the vocals were written just a week before the recording, so that falters here and there, lol.

In that video I'm the bass-player and vocalist, but we got a new singer just a few months ago.

Really good stuff man, not really my genre but I loved it! You guys got potential, keep it up icon14.gif

However, I really, really recommend that you at least go fill out the form at The Forum Musician's Commune, you don't even have to contribute regularly, but by just joining you'll get some extra attention and promotion, and that's always positive, right? We're a small community, but we're always happy to grow, so please do join, plus I'm pretty sure that your own topic will get locked eventually and a mod'll direct you our way. No matter what, you got good stuff and potential!

Wow, thanks! biggrin.gif I'll do that.

Because with the band, we haven't got time to do more self-written songs, here's some more songs of mine with computer-generated sounds (it's better than midi though):

"Pieces", almost completely based and written on the bass, the bass is even more important than guitar lol, but I'm a bass-player, so whaddayawant xD.
http://soundclick.co...cfm?id=10278417

"Six degrees of seperation": I think you can clearly hear some influences of Muse here, also pretty much based on the bass. For some stupid reason it is cut off after the interlude.
http://soundclick.co....cfm?id=8945036

"Number": don't know if we ever gonna playthis, since we have only one guitarist.
http://soundclick.co....cfm?id=8945035

Also, here's some of the guitar symfonies I composed, and here's the influence from the classical guitar:

Time: the rhythms give me the same feeling as sounds that a clock makes.
http://soundclick.co....cfm?id=8945039

Space: the guitar symphony I like the most of all I've written, the often you listen to it, the cooler it get's, especially the part with the solo from 5:56 xD.
http://soundclick.co....cfm?id=8945033

I got so much stuff that I could record an album lol moto_whistle.gif

BTW, how smart is it to post it here? I mean, people could use it for themselves, don't you think?

Nah, they won't, that's not the way it works. Besides, it's nothing but smart.
How the hell are you gonna become famous if you don't advertise your stuff? And you're on YouTube, right? It's a gazillion times easier to download your tracks from YouTube than to rip 'em off from SoundClick, or whatever you're using. And nobody has done it yet, and never will.

Heard the western bit you did and liked it quite a bit. How old are you, mang? You play pretty well. I'll watch the rest of your stuff in a bit, but for now I must listen to Journey.

Last saturday, the band I'm in had the first gig with the new singer, who's in it since March and started singing at the same time.

These 5 video's at this link are from that gig smile.gif (I'm standing at the right, playing bass/acoustic guitar and second vocals):
http://www.youtube.c...59A15F76345451B

We ourselves are satisfied with it, aside from some false parts on the vocals here and there and a few small mistakes on the instruments, seen the fact that it was our first 'big gig': 30 minutes of playing.

Sounds pretty good, but tell your drummer to try practicing with a metronome. Those things do wonders. icon14.gif

Also I'm more of a traditional grip guy, but that's just me. Who cares about someone's drumming? Other drummers.

Lol ok, I'll do that smile.gif . Can you be a bit more specific on what he should do better and why/how he could achieve that with a metronome?

What do you mean being a "traditional grip guy" tounge.gif ?

I noticed he seems to throw you guys slightly off at parts and accidentally changes tempo, which is exactly the opposite of the drummer's primary objective. A metronome will give him an accurate and evenly spaced click to play to, so he'll always keep a rock solid beat. I'm not saying he's bad, because he's not (for a rock guy).

And traditional grip is just one of the ways to hold the sticks. It's asymmetrical, whereas matched grip is symmetrical.

Nice work Puma, I'm a fan. I subscribed for sure.

I dig the song Rush, you should write more for the band.

I agree with Dark, the tempo goofs do stand out, (as they would tounge.gif ) but you guy do a good job gettin right back on it.

I'm sure you wrote Rush in a key that was comfy, and I haven't listned to all your stuff but I think I might like your vocals better than the new guy. icon14.gif

EDIT: Tribute cover FTW!
