I came across a mod for the game Mount&Blade Warband called A Clash of Kings which is a total conversion mod transforming the vanilla game into the War of 5 Kings. It's got all the major Westerosi factions + the Free Cities in Essos.

As a warning, I haven't played much so I'm not sure if there are TV show spoilers. There's definitely book material present, so be careful. It's still in beta, so there's a few bugs, but it's still excellent.

If you're a fan of the game and the show, I recommend checking it out.

Wow, thanks man.

Definitely picking this up after my last exam.

Reminds me a little of this mod.

I can definitely vouch for that Thrones mod for CK2 if anyone has any doubts about installing it, it's fantastic and I've put as many hours into that mod as I have the vanilla game, on top of that, Essos is not far from being released. The possibilities are brilliant, for example I saw a Reddit post of Samwell Tarly on the Iron Throne. Definitely worth a go for anyone with CK2.
As for the Warband mod, I'm downloading it now and I just hope that it doesn't include any spoilers past ASOS part 1 because it looks great.

More on topic though, what's this talk of Roose openly hating Robb? I wasn't actually aware of any problems between the two of them, at least none I can think of off of the top of my head. Think it might be time I watched the last few seasons again.

Been at the CK2 mod myself. Played as House Locke in the Pre-Aegon scenario. After about 10 years House Bolton and some other northern houses rebelled and... I've heard this story somewhere before.

Gone back to the King of Rivers and Hills mod for Medieval 2: Total War. I'd definitely recommend that mod for fans of the theme icon14.gif

really??
then you're not very good at paying attention tounge2.gif

all the clues were there.
the first came when Karstark killed the Lannister hostages after talking to Roose Bolton about Robb's faults as a leader. they both agreed that Robb was weak, indecisive, and would probably make for a poor king even if he won the war... but neither of them believed he would win the war. they also agreed that Robb's decision to marry Talisa was wrong and would bring shame on their allegiance to the Starks.

the second came when Karstak was executed by Robb for treason. with his final words, Karstark openly renounced Robb as king and said he wasn't fit to rule.
this happened right in front of Roose who was watching alongside Catelyn.

the final clue came when Roose decided to set Jamie Lannister free. why would he do that?
not only was Jamie supposed to be their enemy but Roose also tried to punish Brienne who was supposed to be their ally.

Uhh, Roose was at Harrenhall while Robb executed Karstark at Riverrun . I think you got some stuff mixed in your head .

Roose is just like Walder Frey, except not a perv, and instead of not joining the winning team late in the game, he's just a traitor. A smart traitor, who had the choice of, does he fight for years just to stay The Lord of Dreadfort? Or does he end it then and there and become The Lord of the North. Honorable, no. Ambitious, yes.

And he arguably saved the lives of hundreds or thousands of northmen, as Tywin pointed out in the final small council scene.

Not that I think that's why either Bolton or Frey did it, but it is a result no less.

Save for the butchering of Robb's men. Killing Robb, Catelyn, Talisa, Ned 2.0, and the rest of the wedding party didn't stop that slaughter from happening.

Roose Bolton is definitely in my top 5 characters. I'm not too fond of his son, but Roose is the sh*t. I'm a big fan of the schemers, guys who are cold and calculating, making secret deals and backstabbing their way upward. Roose definitely didn't save the North many men, he helped to cripple all rival northern lords, firmly securing his seat as Warden of the North.

I question the wisdom having having Bolton on your inner council though. I mean... he's lord of the Dreadfort, his sigil is a flayed man, and the Boltons have been rebelling against Starks for ages. I'd have that guy and his men in every vanguard of every battle till their was nothing left of them if he was my subordinate.

I finished watching the "Red Wedding" last night, after that I wondered if it'd be possible for another TV show to be so f*cking dramatic.

The Tywin and Bronn ones are just perfectly spot on. They are exactly the sort of images the characters would have if you did a contemporary (well, 80s/90s) universe version of the story.

Anyway, I made an album of all the ones I've wallpaper-ified if any wants to grab them. I think I've got them all in there (apart from Brienne, because so much of her figure is cut off in the source image).

The length of time between a season of Game of Thrones concluding on HBO and Sky and arriving on DVD and Blu-Ray always feels a cruel and vast stretch to fans, and this year will be no different. February the 18th, 2014 is the date to mark on your calendar for the US DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download release of season three.

No UK release dates have been confirmed as yet, but if the same pattern is followed for season three as for one and two, we can expect the box-sets to arrive in shops two-three weeks after the US release, in the first week of March, 2014.

The twist this year for collectors is that HBO is running a 'choose the artwork' Facebook poll for the Special Edition Best Buy box-sets, in which fans can decide between the familiar Stark, Targaryen or Lannister sigils, Tyrion, Jon Snow, and Dany covers, or new sigils from Houses Tyrell, Baratheon, and Tully. Visit the official Game of Thrones Facebook page to vote.

Trivial question fellas, but I'd like to see some answers.

Have you guys ever had trouble in keeping in mind all the minor character's names, in books 2-5?

To me, it's something of a a herculean task. I worked hard to remember all those guys who escort Cat and Tyrion to the Eyrie, and the Stark men in KL...and most of them just got killed anyway! I'm starting to feel like I'm getting foggy on the plot itself and I don't want that to happen, because I'm really enjoying it.

Did any of you have trouble following all these minor characters as well, or is it just me? sad.gif

Over the course of the 5 novels so far, there have been over 1,200 characters introduced, many of them mentioned only once or twice in passing. Of course some are going to be forgotten.

Edit: Saw this today. Use google maps to to draw a house sigil for a run route, post your time after you've completed it. Figured any fitness freaks would find it cool.

Reading the series twice cements a lot of the characters in your mind, and the series is arguably even better the second time round biggrin.gif .

Honestly though, you don't need to remember that fat Tom, Jory, Harwin (and others) are Ned's men in King's Landing, or that the knight whom Bronn fights in the Eyrie is Ser Vardis as these names don't serve the plot in any way really. Check the Wiki if you're starting to forget bits of the plot.
