So far, maybe complete Uncharted 1 on Crushing difficulty.
That or maybe Killzone 2 on Elite, damn the final boss fight was a pain.

The most difficult, legitimate achievement I've got would be the Mile High Club on Veteran on CoD4. I say that because it actually takes some proper skill rather than just dealing with bullsh*t like the laser-guided grenades on WaW Veteran.

I swear though, if I ever have to hear "Tango down in section one-alpha!" again I'll destroy whatever it came out of.

Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic. The races were the hardest because the racing lobbies on GTA IV fill up in no time and there's always four or five people better than me. Took me two years to get it.

Most recently... Just before Portal 2 came out, I went back to the first to Gold every challenge, particularly the 'step' ones. Barely passed each, took hours suicidal.gif

* Bioshock Series at Hard - You really need to know and learn what One, two punch! means.
* Project IGI at Hard - total nightmare. I remember even now about that pain. When it will end.
* Need For Speed Underground 2 at Hard - PC is very smart, I can tell.
* Far Cry at Very Hard or what it was - A paradise nightmare, bush-bush-bush like a rabid, specially in the dark with all those lovely mutants 360 degree.
* Hitman Blood Money at Hard or what it was - Turning 47 into a ninja is hard.
* Prince of Persia Warrior Within - I'm glad Dahaka isn't Bogeyman.
* Unreal Tournament & III at Hard - I'm glad my mouse and keyboard survived. biggrin.gif

When anything is so hard it gets frustrating, I stop having fun. In turn, I stop playing.

I agree with Rob though, Mile High Club is a bastard.

Magicka final boss... Actually most of this damn game. 10 dollar torture is what I call this. We were on that boss all night last night and still didn't get it.
Needless to say I've had enough of this game and have no intention of buying the DLC no matter how cheap they are.

Its not much of an accomplishment, but beating midnight club LA in just 2 days, the A.I. was a bitch the whole time.

Probably getting the Speed Run achievement in Blood Stone.

"Complete the Istanbul Chase scene in under 2 minutes 59.4 seconds."

Doesn't sound too bad, right? Plus you're behind the wheel of a 1964 Aston Martin DB5, one of the sexiest cars ever conceived.

But no, it's bad.

For starters, the car handles like crap. I sincerely hope the real DB5 doesn't drive like you're Mr. Bean sat in an armchair on the roof with brooms pushing the pedals.

There are so many hair-pin turns in the level, forcing you to use the brakes and slow down to a leisurely 5mph in order to turn a corner. Also, there's a lot of collision detection issues on said corners, sending you crashing or scraping against an invisible wall. Don't bother using the Handbrake, you just end up careening off into a wall somewhere. And somehow, you're meant to regain enough acceleration to keep under that 2.59 limit.

Throw in a few baddies in SUVs. They come out at the worst possible times, inexplicably speed up the instant you overtake them, and they're just plain mean. Then comes some heavily armoured cars, whom take it upon themselves to try and box you in, or ram you into an invisible wall. It's funny, because it's never made clear if these armoured cars are in the employ of the villain; or just some pissed Turks with a chip on their shoulder for classic Superleggera cars.

Top top it all off? There's no timer. At all. That's right folks, the game expects you to complete the level under an insanely specific time, and doesn't even provide you with a timer to gauge how close you are to succeeding.

So yes, that's one of the most difficult and frustrating accomplishments I've ever made in my history of pressing buttons.

Finishing Resident Evil 2 when it came out, without saving, without any hints, in a single sitting.
Me and my cousins had just gotten the game, and started to play like mad, ended up finishing it. It was insane.

Killing the Jack in a Box boss in Donkey Kong 64. The first time you face him, he's hard, but doable. The second time you face him, it's ungodly difficult. Loved that game, and hated that boss with all my might. Thank god he's gone.

No Fighting in the War Room on Veteran - COD4
Mile High Club - COD4
Stand In and Ensemble Cast achievements in Call of the Dead. It's not that they're hard, it's just frustrating if you don't really know what to do. Now it's really easy
Some Skate 2 challenges took me hours to finish.

Probably beating the Alien campaign on hard mode in AvP2 (Predator and Marine on hard too, but the Alien one really sticks out). That sh*t is really f*cking brutal, when you start fighting Predators it gets 10x harder than it should. The last fight was almost impossible, and I raged for hours trying to beat it, when I did I could hardly believe it. I damn insist the game should be renamed to Quicksaves: The Game.

I always found the last Bowser fight on Super Mario 64 retarded difficult, when the arena turns into a star shape and you've got to get to the very point and hurl him at the explosives. Of course I was like 10 then so maybe it really isn't that hard.

There's been way harder things but I think I've purged them from my memory due to the stress.

It has to be learning how to play Guitar Hero/Rock Band on expert on guitar and drums. There's nothing like playing a song a hundred times and finally getting it down.

Sorry for the bump, but a conversation between me and TPFS reminded me of one of my hardest gaming achievements. There was a PS2/Xbox game that came out some years back, titled Black. Excellent game at it's time, and one I spent hours playing. Anyway, if any of you have played it on, especially on the harder difficulty levels, you will probably agree with me that the last level, Spetriniv Gulag, was a f*cking pain in the arse. One part of the level saw you in a courtyard with the enemy completely surrounding you, including RPG guys in the buildings. Get past that point, and you find the last bit of the level is a big room within a warehouse, where there are tons of guys who just come at you with everything they have, from grenades to RPG's and Assault Rifles. You get trapped in this room aswell, meaning the only place to hide was in one of two rooms on a balcony, and that was risky due to the enemy been able to trap you within the room.

Anyway, finally completed the mission after literally hundreds of attempts.
