I'm gonna have to go with The Baseballs they do covers of Pop songs and make them amazing and hilarious at the same time.

Jimi Hendrix covering Bob Dylan is a definite classic as well.

and then any cover Johnny Cash did. An absolute legend.

you sly gentleman, I've got so much love for Hendrix's cover of All Along The Watchtower, was the first song that popped into my head the moment I saw the title of this thread.

the award for worst most recent cover goes to...Ed Sheeran and Devlin: Watchtower

Glad someone bumped this topic. I see a lot of covers I enjoy around here so instead of posting them again here's Rise Against's cover of Bob Dylan's Ballad of Hollis Brown.

There are so many good covers I know of that I'm not sure where I should begin. I'll post this one for now and add more when/if I remember to do so.

I love Pink Floyd with an immense passion and they are by far the greatest influence in my life but this cover can't even be compared to the original. They are both so unique and have such an individual feeling that, in essence, they are no longer the same song at all. I adore both versions hugely and respect the covering artists for treating the song so delicately. Enjoy.

I came across this about half an hour ago and haven't stopped listening to it. Bloody phenomenal cover. It flips the songs style completely yet keeps the energy flowing through it.

As others in this thread have mentioned, Johnny Cash did many great covers

I also loved Norah Jones' cover of Johnny's "Home of the blues":

For me, The Rolling Stones have some of the best covers of the some of the best songs I've ever heard. For the most part, I really never find an appeal with cover versions, but The Stones have a great talent with this.

My Girl, The Rolling Stones (1967)

---------------

Ain't Too Proud to Beg, The Rolling Stones (1974)

---------------

Come On, The Rolling Stones (1963)

How about we turn the table and have Zappa doing Cash's - 'Ring of Fire'?

Great version(if you ask me) by the way.

Came across this last night and I'm hooked. Completely different and yet so familiar.

And the original...

Both are fantastic in their own ways.

Quiet Riot - Come on Feel the Noize

And the original, by Slade. I do prefer this original version however I still think Quiet Riot's version is an awesome song.
