I tried finding a topic for this, but to no avail. Anyway, I was a bit hmmm about this until I looked through the interactive tour. The gameworld looks humungous, and the vehicles look fun, so my interest perked up. I can't think of a better team to be making this (id software & Bethesda) ad the id Tech 5 engine looks like it's doing an amazing job.

So...getting it?

I've been looking thru machinima all day, and all I can find is a preview of the iPhone game. In fact, I can't find any hands-on previews of the game, only hands-off demos.

Looks like Borderlands with more realistic graphics and probably less in depth gameplay. Not sure if I'll ever play this. I wasn't a big fan of Borderlands, though.

Looks more like a crossing between Fallout 3 and Borderlands. Very nice though. I like it. Also: The sky looks f*cking amzing.

I hope it becomes more than just "decent". Wouldn't it be awesome to have a game with Borderlands, Fallout, and Doom elements (even though I never played Doom or Borderlands yet)? I hope the shooting mechanics are also good, but that's kind of questionable as you don't see that guy using the iron sights on that AKM style assault rifle much.

Ah, a post-apocalyptic FPS, where have I seen THAT before?

Oh yeah... Fallout 3, Borderlands, Fallout New Vegas... Not interested in this glorified horse manure. yawn.gif

It sucks for RAGE. It's been in development for six years and now what it has to offer has already been done. Looks great for a fun shoot 'em up and the graphics in the interiors look amazing.

Funny. On my second playthrough on New Vegas, I didn't fire a single gun.
So much for FPS sigh.gif

So what, aren't people allowed to make a post-apocalyptic FPS because three have already been made, even if it's original in most other aspects?

Tell that to the people making modern war shooters tounge.gif

Well another post-apocalyptic FPS isn't exactly anything new, however at least it looks like a solid game. Graphics are tight, gameplay looks fine so far. It reminds me of Bioshock, Fallout and Borderlands all mushed into one game - but just all the good bits.

In other words, every idea has been basically done. Should they stop making Star Wars and Mass Effect games since there has already been a countless number of futuristic games based in space? Should they stop making crime sandbox games like GTA since there has been many games with similar themes? Actually, I find that the post-apocalyptic first person shooters haven't been done that much. The Fallout games play more like RPGs in my opinion. The weapons in the Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas don't have handling or balancing that's usually needed for a first person shooter. Those aside, what do we have? We mostly have Borderlands and Metro 2033 (which I can't get as I'm on the PS3).

Dont forget Stalker. But yeah, you are absolulty right.

Plus, theres alot of different things you can do in any given genre. I'm sure it'll be great.

Some info has emerged from PAX:

- RC cars and turrets are engineered from blueprints and parts

- minigame called wingtoss which you play with the wingstick

- grenades

Watched a preview of this game on PLAYR. Actually pretty darn excited about this when I saw a weapon which was an awesome slicing boomerang!

But on the downside, no level-up system and no fast travel.

Rage's competitive online features revolve around a series of modes under the umbrella of Rage Combat Rally. That's right Rage's online functionality doesn't involve on-foot modes at all. Instead, Rage Combat Rally allows gamers to drive heavily-armed buggies in violent vehicular combat. And more surprising yet, Rage Combat Rally only accommodates up to six players at a time in an era where most shooters try to allow for as many players as possible.
