Edit: New page!

I started with Vice City and played the hell out of it on my fat PS2.

^Same but with the PC. I wonder how GTA felt for the first time back when it was a new game.

I was... sort of. I had a PlayStation with a bunch of games, and my friend across the road had a copy of GTA2. After seeing him play a few times, I was really really intrigued. I got my own copy of Grand Theft Auto for my PlayStation and, shortly after, a copy of Grand Theft Auto 2. I swore by those games until I had a crappy computer that could play GTA III at a few frames per second, and it only really got better from there.

GTA 3 was my first game, and it is the game that got me into the GTA Series.

Where?
GTA F or the series?
I joined GTA F around after a year from GTA SA release. Until later when I discontinued the forum, few weeks before GTA IV release, and joined back after around 4 years in 2012 with a fresh start.
As for the series, I joined in with GTA 2 release.

Bought GTA1 from Electronics Boutique in 1997. Changed my life. Games became for me more than games even with the freedom of the original game. Spent hours making my own little adventures in my head.

Bikes were impossible in GTA1, hehe.

I've been here from the beginning. Still have my original copy of GTA 1 and PS 1 console. Played every version of GTA since, except the 'add-on' stories releases, they never felt like 'true' GTA's to me. Does anyone remember the little under water ramp that lead to the island? I felt like Jesus when I discovered that back in the day, walking on water :)

Played GTA 1 and London at my cousins in the mid-late 90s. Wasn't really into it, we just messed around shooting pedestrians. GTA 3 is when I became a real fan.

I went from GTA 1 to others in the right order despite it being a little late, as I first got to play it in 2003.

Back in the 90s I bought the GTA London editions that were like addons really to the first game, but came out 2 years later.. I bought them in a pack.. I think the pack at GTA 1 and the London versions. I've bought every GTA over the years, except the chinatown wars one.

it was GTA Vice City I first played when I was a kid, had fun playing as Tommy Vercetti committing crimes and escaping the cops haha. I know me and my brother played GTA San Andreas alot on the Play Station 2 even when GTA 4 & EFLC came out we preferred San Andreas because there was so much to do

A friend of mine's father had bought GTA2 and he let us play it alot on his computer. Some time later he then burned the game on another CD so we also could play at my home. i think that was even before we were old enough to attend primary school. Good old times

Can't say I was there from the beginning, unfortunately, knowing full well that GTA 1 is an underrated masterpiece.

My first game was GTA 2 in the summer of 2001, and my love for the franchise was solidified with this game.

I've yet to play Advance or Chinatown Wars, though.

Yep, I was there from the beginning, one of the first PC's my dad got was a TINY after having the AMIGA PC for years... wasn't interested in games until Grand Theft Auto... played that and played it for hours, days, weeks... until GTA2. I was only 10 years old, but seeing it now seems like nothing to a ten year old but it was still an 18.

Eagerly awaited the release of GTA2, and I remember the hype train for GTA3, that was a glorious day when I got my copy of 3 from EB I tell you... I remember that day even now. Yeah, I've been here since the beginning!

I started with Vice City, played on PS2 in a friend's house a few months after the release. He was an assh*le, but hey, he had games, so it was fine for me.

It all began when my  bestie, my homie brought his Grand Theft Auto V CD to college. I hv had heard a lot about GTA VC, SA from other friends too.

The Guy showed me the map, the 7 DVDs, and told a lot about the game.

So, I went home, started surfing around, and found that GTA 5 wasn't able to run on my PC (the sys req. were tooooooo much for my HP Split X2)

Somehow, I got GTA 3, purchased it and got it running. AND That was it. Then I got VC, cool. but it wasn't till I heard about GTA SA. I was just so much obsessed by the game that i can't tell you.............

Day by day, month by month, i played it. And I became a die-hard GTA Fan.(and a gamer).

Now my collection has everything upto SA, just 4 and 5 missing.

I will be building up my custom PC late this year, and then purchasing 4 and 5. I just can't wait till then!!!!

Nope I started with GTA 2 (put lots of hours in that game at times it was frustrating but also lots of fun and groundbreaking for me. It just seemed to be crazy to be able to explore a city and go on rampage's).

Then after a few years I played VC and its still one of my favourite games, after that I went back to GTA 3 which obviously wasn't that special if you have played VC before but I still enjoyed it.

After that I played the game as they came out, SA was crazy in its scope and quite the Journey, IV a great reinvention and in between there were two solid PSP spin offs (LCS and VCS).

GTA V is the latest and the one I followed the most closely before release. The hype experience was probably even better than the game (which is still good)

My first GTA was the GTA1 in 1998. But I have all GTA games in first edition on my shelf. Best videogame series ever.

Played a demo of it on some Playstation mag my brother had.
Bought it on release - I was not quite 18 (a few weeks before I was 18), I know this because I was asked for ID and managed to persuade them that I'd left my ID at home...

Had all GTAs since, excluding China Town. Spent too much on V (new 360 on day of release due to disc read errors, 2 xbox ones plus 2 copies of the game).

The best thing in my house, on show in a prime spot is this...
