I know this is not exactly in your face sad, but on Assassins Creed Brotherhood:

When Desmond goes to the villa right at the start, and the bleeding effect shows Ezio putting the apple on a podium in the underground chamber where all the statues of the Assassins are, and Desmond says " Its Ezio, he looks so...Old" Because this young, cool character that you spend 2 whole games investing your emotions in has been shown as an old man, maybe even near his death at that point  sad.gif

I thought that was quite sad if im honest

2 whole games?

Yeah because you play as Ezio in Assassins Creed 2 and Brotherhood.

And the only sad thing about it is how dumb someone has to be to put something so stupid as 2 naked butchered guys in a video game.

Shock factor, atmosphere, and story.

The ones that comes to mind for me is in MGS 1, when Snake refuses to kill Grey Fox.

Another sad scene is in MGS 4 when Snake attempts suicide. Glad he wasn't successful though!

Oh yeah and in MGS 2 when Emma dies.

Ohh yeah i get you now, sorry i misread what you put and see where you're coming from now. Plus i don't think he puts the Apple of Eden on a podium in the Sanctuary as it wouldn't be in the big part at the end then notify.gif

Sorry maybe i didn't explain it to well, what i mean is you played threw Assassins Creed 2 as Ezio, then Brotherhood (2 games) And playing threw them games you invest yourself in the character and story, so to see him at the start of Brotherhood as an old man ( But bearing in mind Desmond saw him threw the bleeding effect as an older man so this could be many years after the events of Brotherhood) I just thought it was quite saddening knowing maybe he was coming to the end of his life?

Hope that makes it more clear guys.

1.The ending of Mafia I. One of the best and most tragic endings in a game until now IMO cryani.gif ...
2. The ending of Call of Juarez (the first one). Also, the part in CoJ: Bound in Blood where Ray kills William.
3. In Bioshock, when you kill Andrew Ryan. Also, the endings of both Bioshock 1 (the good ending) and Bioshock 2 (the "neutral" and the good ending) were very emotional.
4. In Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, when the nuke detonates and you can still limp around for some time after exiting the downed chopper, still giving you a very small glimpse of hope, that by some miracle you will be rescued (even though that is impossible anyway). Then, it's over cryani.gif ... Also, the ending was quite sad as well...
5. Has anyone here played Prey ? I think it was quite sad when you find out your girlfriend has been turned to a monster that you need to kill (it's a boss enemy as well) and then you need to give her the coup de grace yourself, because she cannot be freed cryani.gif . The scene in the beginning when your grandfather gets impaled and then chopped up in that alien machinery was also very sad. The ending was really interesting and also dramatic.

I did think that in mafia 2 it was sad when you figured out the reason behind the end of the first mafia.

Heavy Rain: When Scott was revealed to be the killer. I know he was cold, but the entire cutscene with him sitting next to the fire, and burning all the evidence while shedding some tears was very powerful. I had a miture of emotions. I wanted to get revenge, but at the same time I felt sorry for him.

RDR's ending didn't really have an impact on me as someone had already spoiled it on here, but it was still quite sad.

GTA IV: When Roman died[/spoiler}. Boy didn't that tug at a few heart strings. Obviously I didn't burst out in tears, but I got that lump in the throat feeling you get when you're emotional. Oh ,and [spoiler] Niko killing Dwayne. You could literally feel Niko's regret radiating through the screen.

I thought the ending of Mafia was sadder than the Stairway to Heaven mission in Mafia 2. That mission was only to justify Tommy's death in the first game since Vito and Joe needed money.

Know this isn't standard but....
GTA SA- It wasn't from the story per say, but rather the fact the game was over, and I really liked most of the characters. (The Truth is my dog!). The ending itself was a little implausible but at the same time, I just wanted it to go on.

Honestly past that moment just conventional ones like Mass Effect 1 and 2.

The End of Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.

I mean when it ends you feel good about it. It makes you feel like you saved Hyrule and your proud of it. That's why its a masterpiece. The game had a masterful story. It made me believe i was the hero and i made it through all those dungeons and killed those monsters and defeated Ganon!

and then When everyone is cheering and having a party at Lon Lon Ranch. You feel rewarded because you knew you saved those people and then the last scene with Link and Zelda made me cry with tears of joy.

Fallout DLC, dead money. Seriously. During the last mission when you read the story about Sinclair and why he built the casino and how it ended up. And the final video where Dean's show started to play while the lights dimmed one by one, Dean's show would go on for eternity to and empty crowd.. Maybe not like i cried, but it feels somewhat sad..

i know exactly where your coming from on this one, after spending all that time in San Andreas playing threw the missions and meeting all them characters, when there all standing in Grove street for the final cutscene, the credits roll and then your just left all alone in that massive world! Just feels so empty!

Ghost and Roach's end in MW2 really did piss me off more than anything in recent memory probably because you worked so damn hard to survive while downloading that intel at the cabin prior to them being offed.

Manhunt: Finding out that all the family members you went through the trouble of rescuing had been rounded up and killed anyways.

Silent Hill 2:The suicide ending and hearing James's wife speaking to him was incredibly depressing.

Final Fantasy IX: When the summon guardian Alexander defends the city against Bahamut only to be destroyed by the main villains ship in the sky.

The only thing that annoys me about Jack is his voice. Other than that, I have no qualms with playing as him. Would I prefer John, Sr.? Yes, but John "Jack" Marston, Jr. becomes very different from how he was as a 16 year old when you take control of him three years later. He's almost a mirror image of his father. Towards the end of the game John taught him well, and by getting revenge against Ross he finally becomes a man and the story comes full circle, as John went through the entire ordeal for his family. Just one of the reasons why RDR had me emotionally hooked.

Thats is exactly why "friends" were good in IV but most people hated it.

OT: Romans and Johns deaths in IV and RDR

As others said. MGS4 was pretty sad for me... Especially when Snake tried to kill himself and at the end, I was sitting there for 15 minutes with my jaw dropped to the ground. Tbh I think that is one of the only games I have ever sat through and watched the entire credits, thinking about the MGS series. Especially MGS3.

RDR was pretty saddening, I really thought when it went into dead eye that John would be awesome and take out all of them but then.... cryani.gif

Forgot this too! Definitely. It was worse when you saw him saying goodbye and entering the library, and just sitting there. Very sad. Plus when the Altair memories kept going on and on, mentioning his name, I got a bad feeling in my stomach every time because I knew that I was closer to seeing his end.

also I felt emotional for Ezio when he figured out that he was a sort of messenger for Desmond to see the memories. Not neccesarily sad for him. But I was glad that he could enjoy the rest of his life.

-When John Marston died in RDR. I was in shock for at least 10 minutes.
-When Big Boss died in MGS3. Several tears came out.
-Silent Hill Shattered Memories when you find out you've been dead the whole time, and Cheryl is trying to forget.
-The Phil Collins song in Vice City Stories. I get so emotional everytime it comes on.
-The nightmare level in Max Payne

There's probably alot more, but these stick out the most to me.
