What's the saddest thing you've seen in a game?

These are the saddest things i've seen in a game
SH3 Heather crying when she find's her father's body

Such an ingenius decision that the player has to pull the trigger. It's one thing to fight a boss fight in a game and reduce your opponents life points to zero and then sit back and watch a sequence, but it's a whole other story, if you have to knowingly deliver the killing blow to a character by yourself. It was never so hard to push a button. I remember hesitating for a whole minute at least before pulling the trigger. This feeling has yet to be reproduced by any game.

Heavy Rain, Ethan getting shot at the warehouse and shaun telling him to wake up and telling Ethan don't leave me, i almost cried when i saw that ending.

Fallout 3 Amata's reaction to me killing the overseer i didn't hesitate in killing him because he's a :cen: it was Amata's reaction that made me feel bad about killing him, so i reloaded and didn't kill him so Amata wouldn't be upset about it.

The ending of FFX

FF7, Aeris need i say more

Manhunt 2 being heavily censored.

Lara leaving Admiral Yarofev behind on his submarine in TRC, i couldn't help but feel for the Admiral at that point, he wasn't a bad guy he was just in way over his head.

The MGS1 end credits not sad just beautiful and that music just gets me every time

Dino Crisis 2 Regina leaving Dylan behind
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D60qijJhoYM

and the DC2 end credits excellent music and brilliantly shot

FFX-2 A Thousand Words

FFX Kilika being attacked by sin

FFX yuna doing sending after sin attacks kilika

Actually, that pissed me off more than it saddened me. It's like they introduced those characters just to kill them off so Price and Soap can steal the show again.

Ghost in MW2 and Reznov in Black Ops. I also shed a tear playing Heavy Rain and Gta IV ( when Roman dies).

I hear ya. I was actually more sad about his wife dieing in RDR. That just kinda happened out of no where and really added to the end.

Also...I get pretty sad when my horse dies in RDR.

Metal Gear Solid 2.

When Otacon's sister Emma dies. Probably the closest I've ever come to crying in a video game.

Shadow of the Colossus' ending. You're so rooting for Wanderer to reach his love, and then that happens.

Seriously, SOTC has one of the best final cutscenes I've ever seen, experienced. So many emotions. So well done. My mind melted.

If you're talking about me then you're talking about a game that's 10 years old.

Think he's talking about everyone really, as it could potentially spoil alot of games for people. Old or not, some people still might play these games one day, and don't wish to know the ending.

For me, the main one would have to be MGS1 & 2. The whole way the cut-scenes are shot is amazing, and immerse you fully.

Yakuza is such an unknown game outside of Japan. While it's in Japanese language, this game is full of emotion. Yakuza 3 did have quite a sad ending, and the game is quite cinematic.

I'm probably going to be in the minority for this, but I thought the ending to Professor Layton and the Unwound future was a real tearjerker cryani.gif

No game or series has really made me sad, EXCEPT Metal Gear. So many emotional moments, but one topping them all: the ending of MGS4.

"This is good... Isn't it?"

Topic wasn't a hint? I suppose, a "SPOILERS" subtext in the title might help, but if we start putting spoilers in tags in this thread, it will all be blacked out.

This.

Also, the end of MGS4. Like, the entire last act and the epilogue.

This. Absolutely this.
You reveal the 'villain' as a hero and then force the player to kill him. Kojima's an utter bastard.

To see David Archer really shocked me and made me kind of sad really...

What, so I shouldn't be able to read about the games I have played because people are too lazy to use spoilers for the ones I haven't? The tag is there for a reason. Why shouldn't a topic about spoilers be filled with spoiler tags?

As much as most in the initial post didn't bother me, reading the Heavy Rain one by accident might have.

This. Oh lord this. When I was 11 I pretty much DID cry when that happened. Musical score in this game was amazing too. Really added to the effect here and at many other points.

This. The saddest moment of ME2.

FFIII Nora's death. It happened in the first chapter but still a sad moment in the game:

Halo Reach Jorges death. The only reasonable death of the game if you ask me. Jorge was my favorite character:

Oh and Louise's death in GTA VCS.
The other ones have been already said.

Don't know if these moments are emotionally touching nowadays...and for some you really have to be deep within the story and characters.
however, to sum up a few:

1. Final Fantasy 7 - Sepiroth kills Aeris, Zack gets killed by Shinra

2. GTA IV - The death of Roman

3. Red dead redemption - The death of John Marston

4. Yakuza - The death of Shinji and Reina before

5. Yakuza 3 - The death of Rikiya
