wow.gif anyone heard or seen gta iv on these bad boys ? GTX 580 3GB

and or this 580 gtx 3GB

would love to see how they cope. this should surely help with alot of the popups and slow loading some people have.

I haven`t been playing for a while wanted to wait for new sandy bridge but some of the motherboards got recalled due to sata issues ... so might wait for socket 2011 smile.gif

I will be picking up 3 Gainward 580 Phantom 3GB very soon, they are about 140km away in care of deliveringservice right now.
Besides GTA IV in 2560x1600 that wont go true maxed out due to 1,536GB vram i dont expect it to be any usefull on singlemonitors unless 2560x1600 and massive sh*tloads of AA/AF on driverlevel, if even there as the card is built for nv surround where i am heading for 3x30" and 7680x1600(or 4800x2560) and so far only userreviews with 3x30" are made where they use the card correctly and dont care about bad excuses some (HH)site make to not test the card correctly as in make darn sure they is above 1,536GB vram to even make a difference between one 580 with only 1,536GB and the other 580 with 3,072GB nomatter if 1% or less is using that rez where you find the difference and card is made for.

As a hint i can say Gainward is Palit but with the better looking cooler and most likely performing better as well.

With cougar point and SB around again in april at best in volumes you should be waiting out X68 before any major purchas as SB/2600K is only the beginning and a teaser of what the true replacer to X58/i7 can do and i know many will just trade up at that time from P67 to X68.

On single monitor - no way it makes any difference. On dual/triple/quadruple monitor set it might affect perfomance.

Ideling @ 30 celsius cool.gif here and silent on air for all three of them is just good enought reson for anyone thinking of getting a 580 when they aint that mutch more than a regular hot and noisy 580.
I have to get back regarding GTA IV but as i said only thing i expect is to be able to max out the game, not "max out" with commandlineusage.

ah! thats what i wanted to hear , the maxed out game no commands no other tricks to disable something to make it run smooth..

but for questions sake a single full 1080 hd monitor of say 24"> would have the same performance with a 580gtx 1.5gb compared to a gtx 580 gtx 3gb game maxed out at full settings? no commandline needed?

and does this come any closer to making sli redundant or is the x2 gpu still better
and is x2 of these 3gb 580`s beating the need for x3 580 1.5`s due to scaling drivers and other things

im confusing myself now Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif wow.gif

Since i was able to max out my older 480 1,536GB on 1920x1200 in honest way then a 1920x1080 24" will max it out as well with no commandline as it was within the 1,536GB limit of the card.
If that Vram-critera is meet then a 1,536GB 580 is on par with a 3,072GB 580. OC will be as usual a draw of luck reference or nonref card(ASUS DCUII and Gainward/Palit 3GB).

This does however not change the need of SLI/CF, just remove the Vram bottleneck that exist on 2560x1600 with massive AA/AF and in Surround/Eyefinity but you still need the horsepower to pull the FPS in usable level and only way now is CF/SLI to do that.
2x580 3GB will not beat 3x580 1,5GB unless you badly choke the 1,5GB in Metro 2033, Crysis or other game when you use settings that eat Vram and you make it use more than 1,536GB Vram.
TRiSLI scaling aint bad, it is just a CPU-issue that you fix by using higher rez and move bottleneck from CPU to GPU as well as more OC on CPU so it can keep up with giving the GPU its data in time, not 5 min later. I had more issues in general with CF on 5970 than TRISli on 280 and 480 so i dont see TRISli as an issue as it just gets better and better.
To bad reviewsites failing hard by reviewing the 3GB card in low rez like 1920x1080 where it wont do anything a 1,5GB 580 can do due to Vramusage below 1,536GB.

wonderful and very helpful reply smile.gif i remember the days of my 9800gx2 x2 sli not enough vram and some driver issues to my 285 gtx running at almost full settings.

not saying that this game isn`t coded badly or ported in a hap hazard way,

sarcasm.gif but maybe they were right in saying its for future hardware sarcasm.gif

ill be waiting for the 2011 socket from intel and the 580 3gb or the latest and greatest from nvidia at the time will be added to that shopping list.
