What do you guys think about the American Economy right now? Do you guys think it will improve or get worse, and what do you think we need to do for it to improve?

Reduce greed. Unfortunately, I think it is too late for that. The big bosses of today seem to feel entitled to make much more than their employees. The gap between workers and CIOs is growing out of hand, and it happened really fast.

QUOTE
The average CEO made 326 times the pay of factory workers last year-up from 209 times factory workers' pay in 1996. Back in 1980, when many more workers were unionized, the CEO-worker wage gap was much smaller: CEOs made 42 times as much as factory workers.

source

Edit:
Whoops. I meant to say CEO in my part of the post, but because of my job I have a CIO and not a CEO - so it is just habit.

Might be better suited to the D&D section. Also, what economy specifically? "The economy" is rather vague- each nations economy is made up for many sectors that often have their own sub-economies, some of which are doing much better than others.

What really made me mad lately was one of the Irish banks making a fuss because they wouldn't be able to pay up to 30 million in bonuses. What in the f*cking world made them think that they've done something to get a bonus? Drive the country into the ground?

We need to end the World Bank and it's tyranny, America is not even a capitalist country. More like a corporatlist country, if Russia joins the WTO they will be begged and taken over by corporations! America is the number one corporation scum in the world.

Soon we will all live under the New World Order, as the music industry has killed so many of their artists. For those who don't know, Lil Wayne was installed by the government, I hate him as he and so many bullsh*t rappers ruined the hip-hop industry. 2Pac and Biggie were killed by CIA agents, it's impossible for them not to know why or who shot them if they were killed on busy streets. Michael Jackson was also killed by the CIA as he was about to make a song about how much bullsh*t it is for America to be allies with Israel and money-hungry conservative Jews owning our corporations and movie/music industry. (this is not to say that all conservatives are rich, as the most richest counties in the U.S are all liberal)

It's too late now, we're all doomed. 9/11 was an excuse (even though it was an inside-job by the CIA and Mossad) to enter Iraq and Afghanistan, many people think what I'm about to say is bullsh*t but war makes tons of profit.

Also has anyone else heard about all these European countries going bankrupt? Plus today the president of Tunisia fled out of the country causing a huge riot.

I'm taking a class on economy right now and my professor is really good, lots of insight on different things related to economics. Hopefully throughout the semester I'll learn and hear a good amount to put forward some serious discussion about how the economy is doing right now. Pretty interesting stuff, regardless.

I noticed the effects of the current economy today on a personal level. VAT has just been put up here and as such, an 8-pack of Turborg lager is 5.19 in my local Morrisons instead of the 5 it was a few week ago. This is an insult!

What do I think of the economy? Ain't that the age old question, I think it sucks massive cock. This may sound weird coming from a currently enlisted Air Force captain, but the entire government sucks and needs to be changed in some sort of way, shape, or form. What people don't understand is useless spending although bad helps to stimulate our economy. The government has already cut the education budget and now almost all of our spending is going over to fund the war in Afghanistan. As long as we don't have to bail out anymore banks the economy should hopefully recover over the next year.

The US is still in recession, that's for sure.

The only permanent solution would be to prevent overconsumption, something that happens a lot in the US and to reduce greed, again something that's pretty big in the US.

America just needs regulation, and that's it. The free market is a beautiful thing, but like all goods which are sold on the aforementioned market, there's always a catch and nothing is ever free. Besides, regulation doesn't equal communism or socialism, and won't even make a huge difference in your lives.

Consider yourself lucky your not in Britain

Camerons cutting everything he can get his hands on and the Uk is doomed to massive failure because of that and theres already been countless riots since the conservatives came into power. Look at the millbank riots and student protests.

I hope there is some kind of riot in Liverpool because i will loot my arse off. i know a guy from Bradford who was involved in the riots there, he said him and his mates nicked a top of the range Mercedes and spent the day in the town centre getting new clothes and all sorts of other luxuries. I can't wait.

We have over regulation, the U.S Federal register has over 72,000 pages full of rules and regulations on the private sector. Would another 72,000 pages make things right for you, or any better? No. When Reagan was president, he cut that sh*t out and look at what that led to, the economic boom of the '90s.

The worst is yet to come. Energy prices still rising, food prices still rising. What good outlook is there? The U.S dollar is behind the Canadian dollar now, what a f*cking travesty.

He has to cut "everything". Your country is bankrupt. You guys have three options: take the cuts, or risk the pound being worth nothing, or face much higher income taxes to cut your deficits. You little pussies might riot over it but you only did it to yourselves. Don't worry though, I am not dissing your country alone, America is full of Nanny state bred idiots too.

This whole thing is gold.

I stopped giving a f*ck about the world economy a while ago, when it realised it's not making that much difference to me. Adjusted for inflation, I've been on the same basic salary for three years, plus a tidy annual bonus, and nothing's changed - I still pay all my bills, live well for three and a half weeks, then spend four days walking to and from work until I get paid again.

I appreciate I've been lucky enough to not be directly affected by the recession, and I have plenty of friends who have (my housemate, for one), but outside of a vague feeling of outrage at how the banking industry is still idolising its top brass, I'm not too bothered about the whole thing.

Yes the economy goes in cycles, but the problem is we live in a bubble economy and have been for decades. There is still massive amounts of debt in the private sector and the public sector. It's just simply being masked like it always has been.

The U.S had a bubble bust in 2001, and what did the Federal Reserve and the Federal government do like they always do? Increase public spending and cut interest rates. Bush ran up a deficit of like 3-400 billion dollars in a few months and the Fed set rates at 1%. Greenspan and Bush were basically saying to the U.S "Don't worry about your debts, we'll just flood the markets with more money and everyone will get a piece of the action." The American people took this to heart and we saw record sales of houses and cars. However, none of it was real because the underlying debt still existed and all that money ran out. The people stopped spending again, and we have the bust of 2008.

So what has this led to? Bush spends 700 billion on bank bailouts, Obama spends a trillion on stimulus, and the Federal Reserve has literally cut interest rates down to near 0% and has started the process of Quantitative Easing.

It seems the market is showing some improvement. Stock market's going up, consumer spending is going up again, but it's all false and do not be fooled. What really sucks this time about it is thanks to the ridiculous, stupendously huge amount of public spending going on is that it's killing the currency. But what will happen? It will cycle again, we'll see some improvement, but how much worse are we making the next bust (That will inevitably happen) by repeating history?
