OK, when I mention the first two games, I meant in spirit. The first game could have been about street racing if it wanted to, but it wasn't, so pimping cars would be out of tone for a driver game.

I'll admit that MW was alright, but earlier NFS games were alot better. You need to play some Hot Pursuit 2 or Porsche Unleashed, they were the real sh*t man. Then the game was all about hatchbacks and stuff and the series went downhill. And so what if the game has new cars on the list? what does that prove? That the game HAS to have modifying because it's modern day. PGR4 had modern day cars and that didn't have modifying.

I'll give in a little and say that customizing wouldn't ruin the series, I mean, putting on some new rims or something would be alright. Thankfully, I know Martin Edmondson, Founder of Reflections Interactive and Creative Director of Driver SF, ain't a big fan of customizing and such, so its doubtful to see much of it.

And look at this monstrosity, I mean, who would want this?

what do you not seem to get about what people are saying, let me try to put it simply, if you don't want customisation in the game then don't use it instead of it not being an option for people who do want it. Do you understand now?

Learn to read. I didn't say that it has to have customization because it's set in modern era. I said it isn't about 70's, it's about making car chases feel as cinematic as possible. And movies from the 70's were the ones that did that the best. That's the only correlation the game has with 70's. Nothing more. It won't even feel like it's set in the 70's. There are only a handful of cars from that era, but then again, most free roaming games have those cars anyway.

As for that image, the guy that customized that car would probably want it.

@ gta3kuruma: I already told him that. He seems to be immune to reason. Most idiots are.

Okay, I'm sorry, I get your point now. If people really, really want to do that, then they can, but you've got to remember this is driver and not NFS, so the option probably won't be available.

I'm hoping aswell as customization that there is some level of vehicle tuning, maybe some upgradable engine blocks, breaks etc. Just some extras to give your car the edge!

And also i cant wait to get my hands on the RS2000 on this game inlove.gif

And actually, Driv3r (I actually say like that, Driv-3-r, such a bad name) takes place in the 90s, cause there are mobile phones and laptops and sh*t. Driver takes place in the 70s, Driver 2 takes place in the 80s and Driv3r takes place in 90s. It adds up!

Driv3r takes place in 2004, not 1990s.

Driver 3 was released in 2004, it doesn't take place in 2004.

Thats certainly a unique feature, i wonder what the exact details are of how it works, surely you cant skip from car to car without limits?
Maybe theres a meter you fill up

The Shift feature is not unlimited. You must recharge a metre by performing power slides and other dangerous stunts. That's according to Wikipedia anyway.

Uh, yes it does. I cant remember where it says it but either in game or somewhere it confirms that the game IS set in 2004.
I have to dig it out now to see.

I thought it must be something like that, couldnt see it being an infinite system.

I'm pretty sure that it does in fact take place in 2004, I could be horribly wrong, but I do think it says this near the start of the game.

I just pre-ordered this as I got a twenty pound gift voucher from Lovefilm, so quite happy with the fact it cost me 17 quid.

Driv3r definitely takes place in 2004, because in intro you can see Nokia 3200 lying on Tanner's desk. This phone got it's premiere in fourth quarter of year 2003.

I stand corrected. I always thought Driver and Driver 2 took place in 70's/80's, judging from the cars.

But now that I thought about it, Driver 3 had powerboats and modern motorcycles.

You can also find Portofino Tower in the South of Miami Beach which was built in 1997 and Diamonds (2000) in the north. So definitely 2000s.

Yep that's how I remember. My mom got that same nokia phone when it was first released in 2004(?). I remember all the advertisements for it also in game.

The entire coma idea seems sh*t. Reminds me when I was young and teachers in English class used to say 'Don't just end your story by saying 'but it was all a dream''.

Terrible idea.

I agree, but how else would they use the shift mechanic?

apparently, according to devs, the whole story won't be a waste of time and will mean something or whatever. I think it could work really well.

Even though I love both, 3 and parallel lines did feel like the guns were forced in, thus trying to make it more like gta.
Fun fact: You know why Driv3r was rated M? Do the spin glitch in any car and watch blood fall.

The difference being is that is a quick cheap way to end a story, where as the whole story in this is built around it. It will probably be like Assassin's Creed, where it's revealed very early on in the game and then will tie into a sequel somehow.

But how will the actions in a coma dream effect the real world in any way? I just don't see how it would tie in nicely at all.

Someone found achievements for Driver: SF. You can see them here if you want.

It looks like we are gonna be able to buy cars and garages. There is also achievement for buying upgrades (for cars?). There will be 9 chapters in the story and 13 movie challenges.

They look nice and legit, that's usually a reliable site aswell, i think they had the LA Noire achievements up before the games release.

And i like the sound of the buying cars and garages idea, im guessing then that not every car in the game will be found on the road? (Albeit extremely rare) because otherwise why buy one if could steal it notify.gif
