Neil Peart an honorable mention with Ringo Star in the actual list? What kind of horsesh*t is that? Dimebag Darrel doesn't really deserve a mention whereas Chuck Schuldiner needs to be near the top of that list as well.

That also seems like just about the most generic list humanly possible.

I'm curious, what exactly were you intending with this? It's like you just copy and pasted a badly written list from some sh*tty pop-culture magazine and intended to... well there's the issue, there's no intent here. You didn't ask us to list ours or start a discussion on yours, you just posted sh*t with no real purpose.

Might as well have slammed your head on the keyboard and posted the result, it would at least have been a bit more interesting in that it would stimulate discussion. confused.gif

1) Chuck Schuldiner (Death, Control Denied)

4) Danny Herrera (Napalm Death, Anaal Nathrakh)

I don't really know enough about drummers or that to really make a list but Guitarists.

1) John Petrucci - What I like about Petrucci is his ability to play with amazing technical prowess but also to inject some emotion into the songs. Listen to songs like Hollow Years from Live At Budokan or Wither and you'll see what I mean.
2) David Gilmour - Gilmour isn't the fastest or the flashiest in the world but when he plays you hang on to every single note that he plays. This guy is the reason I wanted to pick up and play a guitar.
3) Jimi Hendrix - Ask me a few months ago before I actually took guitar lessons and I probably wouldn't have put this guy down but now I have learnt a lot about about him and can appreciate him and the playing a hell of a lot more. Hendrix just has a unique and amazing sound that no one can really replicate.
4) Richard Thompson - Some of you might be going 'who?' Look the guy up, you'll thank me later.
5) Richie Sambora - Some of you might be going, the dude from Bon Jovi? Give me a break. I actually find Sambora to be quite an underrated guitarist. He has some great playing across all of Bon Jovis albums and his solo work is fantastic.

Thats more like it. Though Chuck is (in technical terms) a far better guitarist than Dimebag.

Danny Carey needs to be somewhere up there. Also Jeff Beck is insane, as is Grant Green.

My all time favorite guitarists (in no order):

Billy Gibbons
Jimi Hendrix
Albert Järvinen
Mark Knopfler
Bruce Springsteen

Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, Billy is a guitar GOD! Mark and Albert are pioneers and genius guitar players too. I know it's just opinions but people put someones like Kurt Cobain on their lists... i agree with massrcor what he posted, and i think that he shouldn't be mentioned along with the great ones, like Jimi and Billy and the rest. Kurt was on top in the 90's, SO-f*ckin'-WHAT? And that's just my opinion, so... and all of you Cobain-fans, dont come saying that Cobain played the guitar better than Jimi or Billy or Mark, cause he didn't!

As of drummers my favourite drummer of all time is Frank Beard from ZZ Top

Max Weinberg is also a great drummer.

I think the OP is more interested in the classic Guitarist's and drummer's rather than the metal/hardcore sort of Guitarist/drummer.

Some of my friends are really awesome guitarists, better than some of the people that have been mentioned in the topic.

This guy is seriously an awesome drummer:

skip to 50 seconds for the song and the meat of the show...

edit: playing with two sticks in each hand just for the hell of it

I'll try and put up something unusual:

1) George Harrison (The Beatles)
2) Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead)
3) Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
4) Eric Clapton
5) Jack White

1) John Bonham
2) Neil Peart
3) Buddy Rich
4) Keith Moon
5) Dave Grohl

But its hard to rank them really, I mean I guess the drummer list is a bit sh*t. Jeremiah Green is really good too, as are countless others. If we were just talking about percussion sounds in general I'd say Aphex Twin but that doesn't count at all.
