Thanks picking a real Devo song and not just popping up the one everyone knows.

I thought I was the only Devo fan here. I hope you managed to see them in '05 or even this past year. I missed this past year because drummer dude cut a tendon in his hand before the NY show(only show I could get to).

If you don't have Devo Hardcore 1 & 2, I highly recommend them. Its the good old Devo from the 70s before the moog.

I Haven't seen them live yet, but I really really want to before its too late, I hope they play London sometime soon.

Yeah man, Devo kick so much arse its unreal. and I have got the Hardcore Devo discs, I got everything they've done! same with all my music though really... hehe yeah oh god I could never be one of these dudes that posts 'whip it' or 'girl u want'

Lovin' The Devo -

Thats Good
Praying Hands
Big Mess
Cold War
Thats Pep

Thats Pep is one of my all time favourites, along with Praying Hands & Thats Good. especially that live version on letterman... its so accurately played and Mark Mothersbaughs dance is ridiculously amazing.
Found out the other day he wrote the Rugrats theme, I didn't know that before, or at least it didn't click in my head.

Maybe you can clear this up, is Praying Hands about Masturbation?

Hey, I love Girl U Want colgate.gif

Big Mess is totally on my favorites list because it is from the first Devo alb I owned. Speed Racer is the song that made me buy the album. I hope you have Recombo DNA, that has great early versions and demos of almost all the songs on your list. The version of Big Mess on Recombo DNA is my fave version. Not to mention it has I Saw Jesus.

My short list:
Itchy Goo
Chango
I need a Chick
and many many more
not to mention I really like Human Rocket from their new album Something for Everybody.

I don't want to answer the Praying Hands question for fear of being wrong.

Edit:
forgot to add the pre 80s version of Working In a Coal Mine to my list.

Oh I do too man don't get me wrong! I dunno if I have got that DNA, I might have to look into that.

Yeah this Praying Hands question has been making me wonder for quite some time, I could quite easily search for it online and find out in a matter of minutes, but who knows how accurate that can be, and I think trying to guess is part of the fun haha.

'your left hands diddlin' while the right hand does the work...'

Yeah man, its gotta be about bashing one out!

Got to love a bit of Luther Vandross, I've been listening to a LOT of 80s music lately.

I just got a bunch of 80s CD's from my dad tonight that include many artist like Men At Work, Eurythmics, Duran Duran, ZZ Top, Toto, The Human League, REO Speedwagon, A-Ha, Spandau Ballet, Pet Shop Boys and Frankie Goes To Hollywood along with some others so I'm going to be keeping everyone in my house and my neighbours awake for some time now. biggrin.gif

I've got a little fact, my dad used to go to the same school as Helen O'Hara of "Dexys Midnight Runners".

It is sad that I am one of the few members here who lived through the 80s. Even sadder is out of the few that did live through the 80s it kind of looks like I'm the only one participating in this thread.

Be warned: I will bump this thread here and there just for the hell of it.

This might be one of the best 'couples skate' songs from the roller rink.

Edit:
@Wipex President Mike, after listening to a bunch of Devo recently, I may have a thought to 'Praying hands'. I actually think it my be a bust on organized religion. They have enough songs about sex and incest even, I'm a bit surprised they don't have any for masturbation. Can't beat 'I need a chick' for a good sex song biggrin.gif .

I'm instantly transported back to a Thursday Skate Night whenever I hear this.

Fell in love with her instantly.

How in the hell hasn't this been mentioned.

What a bunch of asshats.

This just made it into the tail end of the 80's.

I used to blast it out the front door of my house at 7 am at top volume first thing in the morning.

These guys should have ended up a bigger deal.

The Cars have to be one of the most under-appreciated groups of the 80s. confused.gif

Aside from the obvious choices from Vice City (Blonde, Flock Of Seagulls, ABC just to mention a few) I'm going to have to say that Grace Jones is one of my favourite artists of the 80s, particularly the album Nightclubbing. She has this voice that I think has so much behind it.

No freaking way!! Europe was actually part of a conversation I had today. I made the remark that they are the only band that ever just put out one album - and that was a greatest hits album with just one song.
