I am starting to have major issues with textures dissapearing now. I have searched the web and there seems to be many people with this problem, where half of them say they have found a fix and then the other half disagree.

the only one I have tried is the using the contig.exe in the GTAIV folder to defrag it a couple of times. But this seems to have made it worse, textures seem 2 disapear much quicker now.

So is there any real solution to this?

I have 4GB Ram, and 1.7GB VGA ram with GTX 295.
Windows 7 ultimate x64

Have you tried changing video drivers? You can also try lowering the settings one by one to see if it makes any difference.

Also, did you have this issue right since you installed the game or was the game fine before? Do you have any mods installed? Is your game patched?

my game is patched to 1.0.4.0. As for it before, its hard to say wheather it happend before when I first installed it or not because I didnt really play it for over a few minutes each time as I was installing and testing mods.

yes I have lots of texture replacement mods using sparkIV, ENB series 0.79, Enviroment mod V5 (w/o update patch), Simple Fuel mod, traffic Felony Mod, traffic fix.net mod, and niko inaccurate mod.

All these mods work OK together, its just the texture issue I have now.

I'm sorry, mate but it's one or more of those mods that seem to be causing this issue. Do not install so many mods at once. I suggest you reinstall the game and then start installing mods one at a time. Go back to the game after you install one mod and try to find out which mod is causing the texture issue. Don't install that mod again.

Environment mod has a rather f*cked up commandline.txt file, I suggest that you create your own or just remove that one.

yeah I'v already spent about 30 hrs trying to get this game working. Unfortunately, I think that's enough for me, time to hit the uninstall button.

I have huge problems with missing textures, i have no mods or have i ever installed them.
It completely ruins the game, i play a mission then all of a sudden the floor is missing & im walking around under a see of gray, or a building i need to go into will just be a gray block.
I've had it from the start, i now have a new ati hd 5800 upgraded from my Geforce 8800GT & the game is crap still.

Did you install a fresh OS after the upgrade?

Yeah, that often causes it. Make sure to remove all old GPU drivers at least.
