So wait. Is this mod discontinued or will it be finished by other members? Really loving this mod so it'd be cool if it would get updated at some point in the future. Also is there anyway to get Multiplayer working atm? Thx

RussianCJ and his team finished with VCR and Garju's left modding so Tmaster, Me and a few people without gtaf usernames are making a new version.

Blaster and GTARandom figured out how to do official GFWL Multiplayer on custom maps when they developed IVSA so we're using the same method in VCR.

For MP, you could use some of the Vice City Stories PSP MP game modes. The races, etc. I believe on VCS, Death Match is called Vice City Survivor.

We all know what a succes IVSA mp was. Investing time in mp is really useless, focus on singleplayer would be my recommendation.

It wasn't really successful because not many play on the modder servers on this game.

To be honest, I think that the only real MP action for GTA IV in general is Free Mode on IV and TBoGT on the console. But I haven't played on the console MP in a while. I wouldn't be surprised if that is going away due to abusive modders. Almost every server has like 1 to 3 people in it for PC. I don't think I've ever seen a PC server go above 16, which the console player limit. Maybe like once or twice I've seen 17 or 18.

The PC servers are not very populated because:
-Game on PC is badly optimized so its easy to get kicked because of slow downs. Frank S, I hope you write a script to fix the game kicking you for lagging (On console the "Your device is running to slow. Kicked from game session." is not there. When your tugged, you just lag, your not kicked.). However, LC on PC has laggy areas, and IV SA has laggy areas too, but Vice City Rage gets better FPS. Its ironic that the mod is better optimized than the official game its used on.
-Console version came out first. Most people buy it for the console, then are like "I'm not getting the PC version because I own it for the console, and I'm not pirating it because I don't want a virus." These people don't know what their missing.

But I think MP on Vice City Rage may work out better as its better optimized than the normal GTA IV and EFLC.

Not forgetting GFWL just outright sucks, even as a PC Gamer I just tend to stray AWAY from anything that uses that.

Yes. I can't agree with you more. GFWL could of been better if they had parties. Then you would be able to join Xbox Live Parties on PC. GFWL is Xbox Live on PC, except that you can play MP on a silver account. GFWL is going away, so they should make the next GTA on PC more steam based. That includes no Games For Windows Live, Achievements on Steam (I have the disk copy of IV, not sure if the Steam version had achievements.), MP is Steam (Phone invite list has Steam Friends, and you use your Steam Account in MP, not your Xbox Live Account.)

I've done some more scripting, now everything from the very start of the game to the end of "The Party" mission is done, including all 4 cut-scenes. smile.gif
Thanks to Tmaster for recording the VC cutscenes using fraps and converting the footage into .bik
RussianCJ's Race and base defence missions will also be included too. icon14.gif

Someone who has the Xbox version and a capture card, or if they have a fast tablet and Vice City 10th Anniversery Edition should record because the cut scenes look much better.

This is very nice progress, it could be even better if those could be xbox cutscenes as they are of higher quality but meh who cares.
Anyway, the problem with the video cutscenes is gonna be that the weather in the cutscene won't always match the one ingame.

Hope this lasts, I'm really glad this mod is alive and kickin'!

Yeah, xbox cutscenes would be much better. But if you want to use the PC version, you should install this and this.

If I may suggest, instead of recreating the missions from original VC, why not make your own mission set or even a whole storyline with text based mission intros?


Personally, I'd rather have a different gangs layout/situation, play a new set of missions and have East Island unlocked from the start of the game.



A GTA2 style missions campaign in the VC RAGE map sounds like hella fun.

A funny note I would like to adress:

You see the neon on this screen:

The neon lights on the 'Colony Hotel' building are yellow on this screen, while they are actually blue in Vice City (and IRL, Miami)

Now why is this yellow you might wonder? I'll tell you how,

An old version of GIMS swapped the R and B channel on the vertex colors, so instead of importing RGB, it imported BGR.
For example, pure yellow is R:255 G:255 B:0, swap R anb B, and u get blue (cyan).

Same goes for 'Wk Charlot' (Pelican) and a lot of other buildings on Ocena Drive,


I hope this new team fixes this, cause that area looks like sh*t now with all the wrong colors.
