I bought the Legendary Edition today, any advices for beginners? Never played it before.

I just run around and try different things, level up a few times.  Kill anything with whatever weapons I find to see which route I want my character to take.  Kind of hard for me to give advice without giving anything away and there are so many things to do lol

Best advice is to play the way you want, there isnt a right or wrong approach in this game.

I'm using iron arrows for now, but will use Nord Hero Arrows once I forge my bow. But that's a long ways off.

I collect and store every arrow I find lol  Weighs nothing so I don't see why not, but yes I do use a lot of iron arrows at the beginning.  Steel when enough is accumulated.

Over the course of the game I collect a lot of ingots and I always end up with a lot of dragon bones so I just smith my own arrows after that

i dont have any of the dlc's so i cant smith arrows :/ otherwise i would have something else

the thing is that iron is just so easy to come by lol im too lazy to search for even steel, even though i can just steal hurhruhrhruhr a bunch off of guards

i wouuuuuuuuld just use arrows as i find them but holy isjdffnj my ocd goes off the charts having more than like 5 things in my weapon inventory

gosh im so happy right now, finally got smithing up to 100 on my stealth character so i dont have to go dwarven diving anymore for those stupid ingots

Oh yeah I forgot smithing arrows came with a dlc lol

Its true the iron arrows are easy to come by, the ancient nord arrows you get from dungeons are pretty common as well

oh, i always assumed they were worse lol

i still dont want them anyway, only being able to get them down there is a downer

do you happen to know what enchantment would be best for a tanks daedric chestplate? regen health or increase heavy armor?

recommendations for a warhammer would be nice too

My suggestion would be increase heavy armor over health regen.  Health regen sounds tempting but the enchantment doesn't seem to make much of a difference, you're better off just using a fortify health enchantment.

If you have absorb stamina,  it can be good for the warhammer. It works to replenish some of your stamina after the power attacks.

oh good idea, i havent thought about that, my tank usually just powerhouses through everything even on legendary difficulty so i thought i wouldnt need it lol (hammer does about 700 damage from what i remember)

i might need to get some resist magic/element enchantments, wizards destroy me

oh quick tip for easy leveling, if you have strong enough armor, and/or a shield, just let giants whale on you, youll easily get blocking to 100 in about 20 minutes

be sure to have potions on you just in case

Yeah I usually get my enchanting up first, then I create heavy and light armor and enchant enough fortify restoration gear to make restoration spells cost zero, and just let a giant beat on me lol.  Heal when necessary, giants can do some damage even at a high level.

Resist magic should do the trick, dragon shouts can be a pain at higher levels if you don't have enough magic resistance.

Enchantments that increase armor are pointless unless you don't plan on spending any perks in those skill trees (and even then it's debatable) due to how armor caps in Skyrim. Health regen is nice, but it depends on what difficulty level you're playing on. On the higher ones, you're better off with just straight health increases like Thisguyherenow said.

whats everyones weapon of choice? ever since i found out that the poachers axe could be upgraded, ive been using that as well as an imperial sword

i just love the shininess of it, and it does get pretty good damage done as well

200px-ImperialSword.png?version=7d8a1533

and well, it kinda reminds me of the kokiri sword

i wish we could take the un-enchant the gloves of the pugilist, i think thats what theyre called

killing things as hulk would be fun :3

i know we can kind of do that with the heavy armor perk, but all that does is add the base gauntlet armor value to the punches, not much damage :/

^^ Really? I have to go back and do that then.  Wonder if they changed that in an update? as far as I remember I couldn't unenchant those gloves and they were the only things that had the fortify unarmed enchantment.

I liked the imperial sword as well because it looked nicer than most others, i just wasn't a fan of the imperial logo on the sheath lol so I stuck with the steel sword.

Spoiler

I like the dragon bone swords though.  My last character had the dragon bone sword and my current character has the dragon bone great sword.

Thinking about creating an unarmed character now. Always thought about making one and using the stormcloak officer bracers.

My advice for beginners: LEVEL SMITHING TO 100. It pays over very well in the long run. If you have Daedric armor (at least for me) you can attack Ancient Dragons with barely taking a scratch.

I agree with this. Also level up Enchanting as well. I think I'll do this once I start playing again so I can remake my old armor and weapons.

With Enchanting to 100 you can enchant gloves that will give you like 40% extra damage to one or  two handed attacks. Use an amulet that will do the same thing and it will stack, giving you a ton of damage.

Jeez, thinking about this makes me want to play again  :pp But I sorta want to get back into New Vegas as well.

smithing, alchemy and enchanting all balance eachother out, youll want to have enchanting ready to make stronger potions and armor, need alchemy to MAKE strong potions to increase enchanting and smithing, and just smithing to be able to make stronger armor pieces

the sucky thing about going the light armor route for stealth, is that youll end up needing to spend more level points on smithing just to gain better weaponry, unless you have the dragonborn dlc

That the lost legends one? I know that quest line has a glitch where if you keep opening the book you keep activating the quest even if you already found the sword.

Alchemy is also a good way to make money. Try giants toe and wheat, it makes a pretty powerful and expensive potion. Also the more expensive the potion the faster the skill rises, that includes any bump from alchemy enchantments.

giants toe + wheat + creep cluster is the fastest way to level

i wish shop keepers had more gold on them, its annoying having to wait days just for them to refill only to be able to sell one potion lol

meh

somehow ive accumulated 40k gold in one play session, without the dark brotherhood quests
