Animated Text Logo Tutorial.
Note, this is my first tutorial, so sorry for the quality/lack of detail. I will continue to improve this over time.
Hey there guys, here's a tutorial requested from various people from the visual arts forum.
It's very simple to do. Plus this effect can be applied to everything.
Here's what our end product will be.
Open Photoshop and for now i'm simply using a 500 x 200 with a black background.
With a font type in whatever you want. For now i'm typing in Graham with the Boulder font.
Now do whatever you want with your text, for now i'm just going to add a gradient overlay.
Now create a new rectangle shape
Step 5. (OPTIONAL!)
If you like, add some Gaussian blur to the shape to make it more light like.
Now load the selection of the text layer and create a layer mask.
Make sure the shape layer is NOT LINKED TO THE LAYER MASK and the original layer is selected not the mask.
Now were onto the animation part! (the best part )
Make sure the animation window is loaded by going to Window - Animation and it should pop up down the bottom.
Now make sure the shape layer is not visible just to the left of the text.
Now make sure the time-line is at the start set a key-frame at position.
Then, move ahead on the time-line to about 1:50f and drag the shape layer across to the other side.
Now hit playback, your all done! Just make sure to bring the master length down to suit your length of the GIF.
Then go to File - Save for web & devices and your sorted.
Once you understand the basic animation techniques, anything is possible!
Here's an example by Narcis_speed6 using the tutorial.
