Thanks man. I was thinking of just having Roy Zito take over as boss after Jon Gravelli's death but have Bottino briefly come out of hiding for the funeral and contest it. I think people like to see definitive events happen within stories rather than things to be left open i.e in this scenario who would take over as boss.

I think in a logical sense Sammy Bottino would take over as the boss due to his age and experience (although still quite young to be a mafia don) if he was not on the run. It wouldn't make sense to appoint a boss knowing that their days outside prison are numbered though so Zito would be by far the better candidate.

Nice, would Bottino be killed at all? or just give up and go back into hiding

Him being killed is definitely an option. But then again if Carlo were to do it he would surely be marked for death confused.gif

I was thinking, Since their is no Boss, maybe a meeting upon all of the most important Capo's decide his fate, that allowing Carlo to do the job.

I'm not sure how many Capo's there are in a organization as big has the Gambetti's/Gambino's I read 10 active crews up to 20 active crews, meaning acting capo's and real capo's aswell.

They actually should, there are some fascinating ideas here that are actually i'd say very creative (Maybe even beyond Rockstar standard) especially some topics with such incredible stories and themes toward them.

as you already know i hate the idea of more dlcs so my suggestion is you turn this into an actuall full on game like gtaIV

no, kinda what gtaIV did.
a lot of new weapons, crap load of missions, new charcters and stuff like that, but with crossovers with your dlcs, rockstars dlcs, and gtaIV

and everybody can we get the hell out of liberty city its gotten really old dozingoff.gif

To be honest I think I like the character a bit too much to kill him off.

What's with you, do you hate LC or something? Its not like these DLC ideas are going to be made into games, or like the next GTA will be set in LC again. These are just for the fans of GTA IV who are more fascinated with the characters/gangs of GTA IV's Liberty City and want to explore them more.

LC is great, but in my opinion after the next gta comes out,
its time to move on in the sense that gta will not be set in LC for a very long time,
by like GTAVI or GTAVII.

Looks smashing so far mate, especially how you've dedicated sections to key members of each of the families. Gravelli looks brilliant, like a risqué old man, and I recognize John Fiore (Zito) from a few shows.
I think it would be better if Zito became boss and a brief contest plays out between him and Bottino, as not to really complicate things. Going too in-depth and being too true to real life mob happenings risks derailing the story for something that is only going to end in a death anyway.

do you mean like Sammy and Roy becoming enemies? Im doing the same thing Roy is the antagonist in my story and Sammy's the protag

Yeah.

After Gravelli dies the two men contest each other for the position of Boss that eventually ends in one of them getting that position in a means of violence. Sammy Bottino would have his followers and Roy Zito would have his. I think the contest between the two of them would be a good way to induct representatives of both sides - members of the Gambetti's - into the story without the need for having twenty fat blokes sat around a table telling Carlo to murder someone. That said, no one knows what MOB has up his sleeve. The dispute between the Gambetti's could be enough to warrant another family to intervene and the dispute will play out from another family's perspective, where as yours plays out from Sammy's.

yeah in my story roy wants to become underboss again so he tries putting a hit on sammy.

He said the characters were to good to be killed off, i mean that would be fun as it is a game, if we look at it as a game killing one underboss as an antagonist would be fun, in real life though, the capo's would probably vote, and then one would get elected probably.

We will have to see, Tyla your idea sounds great, but we have to be patient and await his ideas.

Right now I'm focussing on the characters. There will be several mafia themed side missions though.

Characters will indeed be my main focus since they are the ones that drive the story and also the elements of the game that will affect Carlo the most. We often read about crazy mobsters and the little quirks of their personality, which definitely make for some intriguing characters to tell a story with.

@Anth: I had envisioned it as more of a seperate game set in GTA IV's Liberty City than an actual DLC like TLAD and BOGT. As in GTA IV would not be required to play but it would be downloadable.

I've added info on the Pavanos.. there aren't many key members but they are the only one's that feature in the story so far.

Sounds good mate, like some sort of spin-off to GTA IV, sorry if i missed this but what year is it set in as in my opinion i think a GTA set in LC in the 70s would be interesting.

The game will be set primarily in 2008 but the latter part will take place in 2009. I picked 08/09 because it will give me a chance to feature some of the unseen characters from GTA IV and some from Chinatown Wars and be able to explore events that surrounded them since this would not be possible after 2009 since most of the characters would be dead. I agree though a GTA set in 1970s LC would definitely be interesting.

OK mate, yes i agree about seeing the unseen characters but i just think that a 70s LC would offer more to be honest but this is really good.

If it would be set in the 70´s, R* would have to change the whole city and this basically would be a new GTA. I wouldnt like to see LC again.

I would like to see seventies LC too. I don't know. If I can get off my arse and bring my London idea to life then I may attempt at creating a LC concept set in those times.

Wasn't this going to be set in the eighties originally? Or am I thinking of something totally different mentioned by somebody else? confused.gif
