Hi all !
Today I decided to begin an other mod while GTA IV modding is improving....

This is...

The Burj Khalifa (or Burj Dubai) for GTA IV !

What will this mod do ?

At the moment there will be only the building, nothing other, contrary to my WTC mod, which adds an "full" (not yet) plaza.

So, imagine GTA IV with a 800 m tall tower...
Imagine jump from a height twice more important than that of the Empire State Building... !!
Imagine base jump in EFLC from the top of this tower...

THAT WILL BE POSSIBLE !

But, won't you get the skyline bug ?

No, the globe effect appears from 800+ m, so when you will be at the top of the tower you'll be at the limit but you won't see this bug !

To prove what I am saying, here a low-poly 3D Burj Dubai model i took from Sketchup and put in GTA IV. This model is 820m tall, and as you can see there is almost no bug. At 800m, nothing appears at all.

Here a comparaison between WTC towers and Burj Dubai sizes... It's impressive !

It is fast to make, but I worry about the textures... I will surely need help...

I finish WTC mod as soon as I get Shadow Mapper V0.2 and collisions smile.gif

Great work Hbx, i am a supporter of this as i will support ALL your major map mods.
Can't wait for WTC IV to be updated with COL's.

As a almost professional and experienced TBoGT base jumper, i am more than proud to say that i can't wait to produce a video of this building with base jumping action with your consent of agreement of course smile.gif

TEST IN GAME

In one word : WOW !
It really impressive, the tower is just.. HUGE !

I timed the time of a jump from the Emire State Building and from the Burj Khalifa :

ESP : 07 sec
BK : 15 sec !!
= more than twice !

PS : the tower is NOT at its final position. Moreover I dont know where to place it... tounge.gif

Hbx84, one question.
Why are you not working for R* games at this point in time!
You would be almost the perfect building designer and modeler for the company IMO.

Your simply just great, i hope you continue to deliver us more fabulous, outrages buildings to add to IV and will be 546864654x better when collision is supported.

Plus I not interested in modeling as real job... But maybe I will do a little bussisness about it during my future spares time... ^^

if you ask me the model needs more polys its too LQ for IV but i guess you will do that and it needs more shading its just a plain model with nothing else try reflections,bump mapping stuff like that

First I tested my textures with specular : it works ! The resultat isn't bad, but we can see very well the polys, but I don't care^^

While GTARandom searches how to get "real" reflections, I 'll show you some new screenshots :

About the name, I don't know... What about "Burj Liberty" ? = tower of Liberty !

But an other question...where to place it ? GTARandom purposes to place it on the firefly island beach,why not smile.gif Have you got other ideas ?

I can help you with shading but what are you using to convert the model to WDR?

I'm using Zmodeler. Look at my tuto to see all the method I am using

When collisions will be in and the tower will be finished, first thing i will do is jump down from the top of that tower in a car, then ill base jump from there and last thing ill do is spawn attacking peds with melee weapons and fight them in highest place possible. Those who lose will fall.
