How to solve WDR BUG
By using Kam’s script for 3Ds max, we get the “wdr bug”, the object is visible only if we look at its pivot, i.e. mostly his point of gravity. Here an example during the creation of my mod WTC IV.
Here I will explain how to cure this bug almost completely, unfortunately on certain objects (particularly for the imposing ones), there are still some disappearings when we look at their borders, but it is not extremely awkward …
This method is not very practical and can appear odd, but it is the only way to get a satisfactory result until now.
NB: parts I and II are optional, they are useful only if you haven’t textured your model yet.
Here, nothing special. In this tuto, I will use the Marryhot (aka Marriott hotel) entrance, which will be in next versions of WTC MOD.
Well, open the 3D model that you want to include in GTA IV, select it, open the menu “file” and then “export”, “export selected”. Export it in. 3ds.
II. Texture with Sketchup
Sketchup is the only software which allows to texture for GTA IV. By using 3Ds max, your object will have anyhow-put textures, or textures which become black.
So, I won’t learn to you how to texture with Sketchup, there are already a lot of tutos…
Once the model textured, go to “file” then “export” then “model 3D” and finally export it as .3ds
