A Russian man has ripped off over a million Facebook accounts. He claims to be staying in New Zealand (in first & third link below), but New Zealand Police and National Cyber Crime Centre believe he is not in New Zealand.

I have a few Links below to prove I'm not wrong:

So how do I know I'm not a victim of said crime?

Well, just try not to click any link anyone sends you, apparently if you click a certain link someone sends you, they plant spyware on you computer and hack your account and sell your details online. The International Police force haven't caught the guy yet, they only have his online nickname, they believe he's a Russian.

Jayd is right.

If someone sends you a link saying that there's something free in it for you, don't click it. It's always an attack site or virus.

Or a scam. Either way, its not good.

That explains the origins of all those sh*tty ass random whores adding me. Figured it was a hacker, never imagined it was a single one behind the majority of them. Hope they catch the f*cker.

I even heard rumours about the FBI and INTERPOL working on this, aswell as New Zealand Police, Russian Police, and a few other police Departments around the world.

Apparently the hacker has got a forum online.

Yeah, really.

The "0 Mutual Friends" and only having 1 picture gives it away.

Oh and the status "Click here to look at my naughty pics" too.

This is pretty old news now at least a couple weeks... but yeah once I heard this I changed my password instantly, problem solved. Apparently people only want the accounts depending on the
number of friends they have. Good thing I dont have any. lol.gif

Yes, good thing you don't have a Facebook account because now your Facebook account can't be jacked? Ooook.

People who claim that they don't want a Facebook account because they're afraid to get hacked or their CEO is eeevul devil.gif are usually people without friends. Be honest with yourselves, hombres. Be honest. xmas.gif That wasn't necessarily directed at you btw.

Accounts getting hacked; Facebook privacy going out the window; permission violations; exploits and security holes abused.

If it wasn't for my day-to-day work, I'd be very much inclined to drop my Facebook account.

If you think anything you put on the internet isn't public you've got the wrong mindset.

Meh he would probably have to pay people to take my profile. No damage done if he hacks it. No worries here.

What's the big deal anyway?
It's not like there gonna get anything from having your facebook details. Unless you have the same password for everything.
I don't social network because i'm anti-social even while connected to the internet.

Well...

The thing with hackers is that they are pretty damn clever. So, theyll get your Facebook info, theyll find a way to get into your mailbox (people can be extremely silly with their mail passwords etc.), anything important you have in your mailbox or any important account linked to it might lead to bad consequences.

No.

I mean like just don't click any link that anyone sends you onsocial networking sites like: Facebook, Bebo, twitter, or Myspace etc.

If you click the link that "someone" sends you and it ends up at a weird website or a blank page or something like that, in other words your "f*cked". You will have to get it fixed or buy a new one, this goes for PSP's and NDSi's on the internet aswell.

I've found another link from the New Zealand Police Website here .

They say that the NC3 (National Cyber Crime Center) have finished looking into it and that Facebook security say that he was NEVER based inNew Zealand, They are still looking for "Kirlos" the hacker. New Zealand Police have traced the hacker to Saransk, Russia.
