Made a lot of updates, I think this will be the last update that I'll post off the map because it's as good as ready.

Btw: I'll make a new map and post a picture of the first version very soon.

UPDATE!!!!:

@UrbanAdventuring: the map is starting to shape well. If I may suggest, you should include Atlantic City, NJ in some form (maybe a small version), because it's the second most visited gambling city in USA. It's an iconic city where the series "Boardwalk Empire" is set, although in the 1920s. The Sopranos did many episodes that were partly set there although the city was not heavily featured.

San Andreas Map: Update 11

Here is the new update. Lets get straight down to business:

QpRJUZB.png

Changelog:

  • Finished San Fierro actually, done all of that side of the bay.
  • Continued working on Buchanan.
  • More coast effect/detail
  • Made Bayside.
  • MASSIVE COAST MODIFICATIONS (Say more later)

So, you like? Please remember I do not do this full time. In fact, I do this to fill time, usually. I find it fun, but to much at once burns me out. And I am only 14, I have school and stuff as well. But oh well, I ain't stopping.

So, I have made the coat line a lot more realistic recently and the inner part of the bay has especially changed a lot. Why? Because of 'Sacremento' (still no name. Any ideas?) Its new location means that the whole estuary had to be rotated round to meet it. And the north coast bugged me a lot. Hope you like it. Please leave feedback, it helps tons. Thanks for reading.

Here is a preview of the San Fierro portion of my Northern San Andreas mega map. I would say this is roughly 1/8 the total size of the map. It is not completed and still needs tweaking and filling in of the rest of the blocks. As well as the placement of Icons for certain amenities.  After that is done I will start work on the rest of the map.

I recently got my vibe of making maps back :D (Even if I posted some days a go I'll stop doing maps... I'm getting annoyed by myself now.). I decided to remake an area I've made before and I tried to make a concept that (I think) nobody did before. I might post it here this weekend (Or not...).

Update on the United States island map.

gtusa_mini_V4.png

I added two new cities: Pipeline (Honolulu), and Trumpcard (Atlantic City).  Though it doesn't show very well at this resolution, the lighter regions outside the cities are supposed to be small houses denoting suburban areas.

A mountain layer now shows generally where rugged terrain will be.  Note: It may look like I put a lot of work onto each individual mountain, but it is just a repeating fill pattern from a 100x100 base image applied to a mulitply layer.

Next up: smaller towns.

Great maps guys, they all look great!
About my map, I stopped working on it a few weeks after I'd posted it for countless unexplainably complicated reasons, the first being the fact that I stopped writing my concept for a while, so I didn't feel the urge to work on it. The second being LibertyKing's map to be just so darn good, I thought he did a much better job than I could have ever done. Even if I were to post it, it would be a very small one - only thing I did was that I added northeast philadelphia (just the country), changed the shape of the rivers a bit to make them more and the shape of the Boston coast was changed a bit. I didn't really get a whole lot of time to work on it, you know.
Anyway, I posted to let you know that I'll be working on another map (this time i'll stick to it :p) of a fictional city, named Kingsfield. Kingsfield will be based off of mainly New York, Chicago and Detroit, though it will contain countless elements from other cities (i.e.: Cleveland, Los Angeles, Boston, New Orleans) as well. The city's metro contains a suburban area - we really haven't seen proper suburbs since GTA III's LC, have we? I have started working on the terrain using photoshop - i'll post when its finished. Then i'll do the streets with Paint.NET. The map is slightly larger than that of GTA SA, just so you know.

I'm very coriuos to see the scale your going to use but, right now, this map is beyond massive xD

So, I'm kind of ashamed to post my map after all these great works, but what the hell, i've an update so here it is

Hc5SOEl.jpg

the changelog it's pretty big, because:

- I've finished the freeways

- Added railways across the state (the tiny red line)

- Made the airports of the cities

- Finished another town

- Finished the docks on the first city

- Done some random roads on both cities (starring two little parks in the south one)

Hope you like it, feedback is always appreciated!

Here are some rough drafts for a few maps I have drawn in regular Paint. I think i am going to update the LaSalle one and Jefferson C.D one in Paint.NET when I am finished with my northern San Andreas map.

Top one is a state based on Colorado named Nieve
Second is A City Based on Chicago named LaSalle with some countryside.
Third is A City based on Washington DC/Baltimore named Jeferson CD and Calvert Respectively. With some of Northern Virginia and Maryland.

POST IT, POST IT!  :pp

@JohnGale: Why are you ashamed to post your map, its great!

@gtamann123: Good ideas, but a bit messy. Also, try and add more colours to the map, it looks a bit bland being all green.

@UrbanAdventuring: Cool map, very cool. I like the mountain effects, I dont think I have seen them before on any map ever!

@aqwaqwaq8: I like it. Not too realistic and lifelike, but that doesn't matter.

My GTAUSA map is progressing.

gtusa_mini_V5_liberty_lobbyton.png

The details for three east coast cities are (mostly) complete.  Liberty City is New York City, of course.  Lobbyton is a city modeled after Washington, D.C..  Trumpcard is supposed to be like Atlantic City.  I marked some notable buildings on the map.  Lobbyton has a small version of the Pentagon, the White House, and the Capitol, as well as RFK stadium.  Liberty City has a stadium similar to Yankee Stadium, and the Statue of Happiness.   The dark gray areas are airports, and the white building footprint in them is the terminal.

I'm going to fill out the major cities first.  Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas, Vice City, and Midway will be done next, followed by other large cities.

The general plan for cities is as follows.  Cities will generally be three "rings".  The central area is the downtown, which will be almost full size in relation to its real life counterpart.  This will give a consistent skyline.  The 2nd level buffer ring will house inner city residential and industrial areas.  The outer ring will be a thin suburban ring with strip malls, single family houses.  The streets will be typical windy suburban  streets found in subdivisions.  Lobbyton has a relatively thick one, but the rest of the cities will have thinner suburban rings.  Airports will have runways of a standard length of 1500 feet, or about a third of a mile.  Real runways usually measure about 1-2 miles, so the game runways will be small.  However, GTA games have had this length since planes don't take nearly as much speed to lift off and slow down much more rapidly.  Railroads will be placed more convenience than strictly following real life maps.  Industrial areas will tend to be adjacent to, or wrapping around railroad tracks.  The other area industrial areas will be found is near harbors and airports.

The overall size of a large city will be about 2 miles x 2 miles, and a smaller city will be 1 square mile.  Liberty City is the largest city and measures about 2.5 mi x 2.5 mi, or about 7 square miles.  There is a mile scale on the map I posted above.  The overall map is 20 miles by 20 miles, or 400 sq. mi.  This is the size of Just Cause 2's map, so it might be practical...

Today I was making a concept map for Mexico City

gta_mexico_city_names_by_the_mexican_who

I might or might not continue this but here we go.

The boroughs/parts of the city:

  • Moctezuma: Known as one of the most beautiful parts of the city, this place is full of tourists, bad traffic and drunk people from the Red Light District. (Based off Cuahutemoc and Zona Rosa)
  • Historic Center: A place full of wannabe French buildings and home to the city's first modern skyscrapers, this place has it all. From superhero impersonators to jewerly stores. (Based off the Centro Historico)
  • La Duquesa: An urban zone with nothing interesting in it. Why would you go here then? (Based off La Condesa, and Benito Juarez)
  • Buena Vista: For people who like going to the park and drinking expensive coffee at a bench, simply beautiful. (Based off Coyoacan)
  • Las Colinas: The business center of the city, interesting if you are a hard-working employee. (Based off Santa Fe)
  • Los Ahuehuetes: Home of the president of Mexico. (Based off Los Pinos)
  • Sport City: Once host of many Olympic events in 1968, this place is full of recreation centers and home to entertainment venues like The Palace and the Adrian Fernandez race track. (Based off Ciudad de los Deportes)

There are many more which i'd like to mention but this is still a work in progress. And if anyone asks, yes. I'm still working on the London map.

gtusa_mini_V6_venturas.png

This is Las Venturas.  The streets are filled in, and some casinos are denoted on the map.  Most of them go along the "Strip".  The orange area is the University of Las Venturas - ULV.  The purple region with a runway is supposed to be an air force base modeled after Nellis.   The airport isn't exactly where it is in the real city of Las Vegas, but it is in the same spot that it was in in San Andreas' Las Venturas.  Downtown is the grid just SE of the main freeway intersection.  Las Venturas is pretty suburban / sprawling and repetitive outside of the strip, just like real life.  Most of it was built since the 60s and 70s so it looks "brand new".

A big dam dam should be along the river just below the lake (Lake Mead in real life).  That would be Hoover Dam, but who knows what it will be called in GTA.

Los Santos from my GTA USA map:

gtusa_mini_V6_lossantos.png

There is a version of Dodger Stadium north of downtown.  A version of the LA Coliseum is located on the campus of ULS (University of Los Santos - a mix of USC and UCLA).  The airport is pretty much a copy of the GTA V one.  The white lines are railroads/subways, with Unity Station north of downtown.  Vinewood Hills have a lot of mansions, like GTA V, and more mansions are in a coastal region similar to Malibu.  A suburban valley similar to San Fernando is to the NW.  The Vespucci canals and LS harbor are two other features very similar to GTA V's Los Santos.  Overall, the GTA V version was used as a model, but I veered from it to follow the actual street grid of LA.

Here is an early preview of a Vice City/South Florida map for a potential concept. I have decided to name the state Tampico. So the setting of the game will be South Tampico. Thoughts?

The highway ring will basically be the outer limit of the city and most of the land beyond that will be Everglade type swamp. I haven't exactly decided what the top left and top right of the map will be though. Thinking about adding a small city in the north of the map but I am not entirely sure.

The western most key on the Tampico Keys will be a small town modeled after Key West. Probably named Key Oeste. There will also be a small island chain modeled after the Bimini islands included in the game but that will be a separate map. They will be located to the South East of VC and the distance from Vice Beach to them would be equivalent to the top left corner of the map to the bottom right.

Edit: Added all the roads in Vice Beach as well as some one the mainland. Also added in labels for locals and landmarks.

Edit 2: I added some of the roads in the suburbs. I tried to get the feel of Florida mater plans pretty closely. Albeit a little exaggerated.

I have a big decision to make right now. The map I started last week is actually another Liberty City map in a much smaller scale and incorporating elements form GTA III. Here it is actually:

p1EU20I.png

The thing is... I don't really like this map. It's hard to make maps at this scale for me. (Someone told me the map had a similar shape than the province of Quebec. This wasn't intended, lol.)

Should I continue this map, or work on my old LC map instead even though it is gigantic and it's much more work?

This is Vice City.  Vice Beach is to the east. Escobar Airport is on the west side of town.   Downtown is on the southern end of the map.  Vice University is the orange square.   Some of the white rail lines are subways.  I don't think they exist in the real Miami, but this isn't real Miami.  The white oval north of downtown is the basketball arena.
