They made the game in less than a year what did you expect?

Actually I expected it to be good. And the game and city was good.

The game was good, but not the map. It was small, even though it had good vibe in it.

Airport is accessible only by one way.

Although I love Vice City, this always bugged me, WHY WOULD YOU MAKE SUCH A WEIRD ROAD TO THE AIRPORT?

I thought both III and VC were perfectly made.

San Andreas does get boring having to travel for like 10 minutes through the sh*tty countryside though.

I agree, III and VC both had perfect maps (but I think VC could have been bigger). I liked a bit of the SA countryside but i agree it takes too long to travel

I prefer the III-era LC, but VC is an amazing city, too. I definetly wouldn't call VC "boring" in any way. It's all how you make it.

I don't think it was that small (although I don't notice) but either way size doesn't make a map boring. I like Vice City for what it is and the map size doesn't bother me.

The only part of Vice City's failings is it its city - bit boring!

Personally I have a mixed feeling about the city.

On one hand, it is a great city with beaches, palms, areas ranging from slums to mansions, sunny weather, palms etc.
On the other hand, you get quickly used to it, and suddenly, it's like you have seen everything you could and there is nowhere more to go.

I did not explore the city outside the missions except for when looking for the Hidden Packages. But even so, it feels like there is nothing more to do there... While on the other hand, it feels that there is still a lot left to discover...

So I am trapped inside this ambiguity... confused.gif

^I feel the same way. It feels like there's a lot more to discover around VC, but everything has been looked over numerous times. I love all places in VC, though. I wish it was created a bit bigger.

I had a ton of fun in VC and never found it boring, so I cannot agree. Sure, it doesn't have as many options as San Andreas, but that is the downside to an earlier game. I would rather have quality over quantity though, and that is exactly what Vice City itself had. As much as I love traveling through San Fierro and Los Santos, Las Venturas is the only city in the game that truly wows me because of how beautiful it is.

There should be a San Andreas option though

What? How was it boring? The map was huge!

Well, do you change your mind a lot? The post I have quoted goes against what you just said to me.

I think the city was pretty good since it represented Miami quite accurately (of course, in a smaller and more cartoonish way, like the cities in Midtown Madness). If you just compare a map of Miami and Vice City they look very similar. It has enough landmarks like Ocean Drive and I liked the Scarface references. Also it had many parts that let you drive without slowing down for a long while.

I Really can't vote for any. Each Grand Theft Auto city has its own uniqueness & specialty.
In Liberty City you see the busy city life & amazing Skyline while in Vice City you have the
Beautiful Islands & Outstanding waters. so I really can't say any city is boring. bored.gif

Vice City had that special atmosphere that III-era Liberty City lacked. The sounds, the lighting, the pedestrians... though I thought that the city was a bit too small.

I loved Vice City. I personally never thought it was dull to drive around in, especially in the first island at night inlove.gif I even enjoyed driving around the poorer areas and downtown. The city does seem smaller nowadays, but back then I never really took much notice or cared. Liberty City was just different, and while Portland and Staunton were great, I felt that Shoreside Vale was worse than any area in Vice City.

How old are some of you people?

I'm sure R* is very upset that their city design in 2002 wasn't as good as modern games, but Vice City was a big deal back then. There are still so many nooks and crannies that make the city more lifelike than even GTA 4. I was playing Vice City before San Andreas came out. Imagine going from the incredible III to Vice City without any other game like it yet. Like all of the GTA games, I spent so much more time traveling the city, listening to the radio, and enjoying the atmosphere than playing the actual missions.

Now, I do think that R* should remake the III series for the next generation to update the control schemes and graphics, which may aid the OP and others like him to understand how awesome Vice City was/is.

I really liked the map design of VC. It was small but interesting none the less. The only island on GTA III that I liked was the third, so I'd say VC beats LC.

I don't know in my opinion Grand Theft Auto III has the best atmosphere in the whole series, not saying Vice City's map is boring but I only enjoy some parts of the map.

I do have to give the game props for it's lighting

I actually imagined San Andreas to be like Vice City with GTA III's atmosphere, which turned out to be somewhat right.

I actually liked the city, It really had so much potential to it, the only problem was is that there were no mini-games to play. Same goes with GTA 3. There is never anything to do after you complete the missions, the only options you get is shooting and killing people.
