(Sorry eventually for my bad english !)

You read this title topic, and I see a lot of people who want to fight with me. But I think that: Vice City is terribly boring. Not the game. Vice City has a great story, some great characters, and some missions are particularly successful.

But really, the city, just the city is poor, very poor. The beach would be good if it wasn't about two fifths of the city, and the half of the first island. Prawn Island is boring, Downtown is Boring, Gangs district are boring, Airport is accessible only by one way. Leaf Links is useless and unaccessible. Ocean Beach (especially Ocean Drive Avenue) is the only district I like.

Liberty City in GTA III was more rich: harbor, tunnels, real and big airport, a true Downtown district and not 2-3 skyscreapers lost like in Vice City, a park, a real residential district, gangs were really strong...

Am I the only person of this earth to hate Vice City? (Not the game, JUST the city !)

Bullsh*t. If you want a boring city play GTA IV.

Vice City & Liberty City (From III) had more of an atmosphere than any other GTA game to date. R* captured grit & glamor perfectly.

Disagree. IMO, Liberty City in GTA IV is really better. More complex, better atmosphere... Really, Vice City is the worst city ever in GTA.

Are you f*cking kidding me? VC had the atmoshpere that no else GTA map has. With the music, I just felt like I would be in other world, not just playing. I, however agree that LC from IV was better than the one from III- It was alot more improved, and exploring it on foot was amazin.

Yeah, yeah, yeah better graphics bigger map i've heard it. What it lacked was a dark and gritty atmosphere. It just felt so bland. However they did a very good job capturing a dark atmosphere in TLAD. Felt gritter than GTA III.

You started comparing two very different cities. Miami has a smaller downtown area than NYC thats just real. And it's fact Florida has literally thousands of miles of coastal beaches, so the beach is the right size. Enjoying the city takes work sometimes... but that's only the time it takes you to steal a boat from the Ocean Marina or a plane from Prawn Island.

What could VC benefit from? More interiors downtown? Easily accessible districts?

Having larger communities would expand the map. Ocean beach doesn't have many houses, this area could be bigger.
They could even do prawn island bigger. Something more dirty, twice as big. Think about stretching the map a bit. It might actually result in even more useless buildings. tounge.gif

It always felt to me that the Liberty City was bigger than Vice City.
I know my way around Vice City like the back of my hand, but I still sometimes get lost in Liberty City, especially on Shoreside Vale, that place is a fücking labyrinth.
Plus Vice City has a huge beach taking around a third of the land mass.

I like both cities, but I prefer Vice City.

So what if they're useless? They still add the feeling of Vice City as a Miami replica, much like how it adds much feeling to Miami as an 80's beach haven.

If you think the beach is useless, have you thought about GTA SA? There must be a lot of useless places then. There are pretty much places without any missions in SA....

The beach is good, I like it. smile.gif

San Andreas has some boring places (1-2 small beaches), but a lot of great places. Not Vice City.

I agree with you. I felt that Vice City was kind of dead, I didn't enjoyed it much, even thought I love the game. My favorite city is GTA III's Liberty City, I love the dirty aspect of it, and I like the GTA IV's Liberty City too. I love Liberty City. San Fierro is amazing too, and I liked the Countryside in San Andreas. cool.gif

The thing I like more about Vice City compared to GTA III's Liberty City is you actually feel like you contribute to the city instead of just being another random criminal. One of my favourite things to do is to go to The Malibu Club, and soak up all the 80s nostalgia.

With Liberty City all you do is walk around staring at ugly, grey buildings, and get attacked by gangs all the time. Which are more of a nuisance than anything.

GTA IV's Liberty City IMO was done a hell of alot better. It just wasn't an ugly, dark hole like Liberty City in GTA III, but it actually felt more alive, and vibrant.

That's not to say I don't like GTA III's Liberty City. It was great back in the day, but as soon as R* introduced me to the colourful paradise that was Vice City going back to the cold hell of Liberty City was a big no, no for me.

Agreed.

Vice City, just felt right. I might be biased since this along with IV are my two most favorite games, but this was done waaaay better than III.
The way Peds reacted were more realistic, sometimes you seeing Pedestrians Rollerblading around, and the whole Mafia crap was gone. Yes Vercetti does work for the Mafia, but in a different way.
Also the safehouses and Helicopters, wow where do I start with that? It was just AMAZING something III lacked.

Vice City overall has everything III does and adds to it in it's own way that no other game could do. I honestly prefer playing this over Saints Row 2 anyday of the week.

Not sure if you made a typo, but in GTA IV you can swim. Just not underwater like in San Andreas.

You are right here. There's more things to do in Vice City. And I love both III and VC. But I kind of liked Claude. He was probably mute but I have reasons to believe he wasn't.

There are some nice places in Liberty too like: Sal's house and Portland in general, Bedford Point in Staunton (the Times Square-ish area), Shoreside was also a nice place. Vice City looked great in its own way. Libert City is better for me because of the realism of the city (Portland especially). It was noisy and felt alive in someway compared to San Andreas which didn't have any ambient sounds except gun shots.

Agree with Miamivicecity and GTA 4 Niko Bellic. Vice City had it's own beauty. The city was more vibrant and more lively in Vice City than it is in Liberty City. I won't talk about the atmosphere because both the cities got their feel right. San Andreas is just so empty in terms of human reaction. The way the AI reacts is just empty, that's to me. Liberty City is far worst. But the AI in VC is varied. Vice City just wins all. GTA IV's Liberty City comes close, followed by Alderney (you always forget it). smile.gif

I didn't feel like Vice City was boring at all. I spent hours just driving around soaking it up. The thing to remember is thats back when Rockstar North were developing Vice City they had alot more limitations. Thats why I'd love to revisit it as many of those limitations are now gone.

Give me GTA III's dark, gritty, urban setting(and sense of danger) over VC's pretty-to-look at but bland setting any day.

GTA III LC with PS3 graphics would look just as sweet as GTA IV LC.
