edit: this thread was originally just a joke thread but then I saw this and it would be funny if it were true lol. http://www.vg247.com...gta...et-in…/

Its been right in front of our faces this whole time

Remember the Liberty City It's Over poster? How it parodied a FILM poster? And how it appeared on the seagull theatre? Film Industry=Hollywood

Remember how it showed a volcano underneath? But the volcano was actually really an erection? People then called it a red herring. WRONG! Vinewood is clearly a parody of a boner. Vine=penis, Wood=hard, a hard penis (incase someone didn't get the play on words). A volcano erection.

Not to mention that a poster right next to the Liberty City Its Over poster literally says boner!

Remember how the volcano poster was in the sex shop across the street? Hollywood, seperated literally by just a road, borders the San Fernando Valley, which is home of the United State's Sex Film Industry.

That street in the game is named Lorimar, which happens to be named after a TV Production company.

Remember how the poster said "Vesuvius Citrate"? People said it was a hint for Vice City. WRONG! Its for Vinewood, California.

When someone found that rockstargames.com/v had a flash movie for download, which ended up being a hamster, they felt it was a hint at an old GTA parody ad of a hamster porno. Again, a hint at the Hollywood Sex Industry.

All on top of R*'s love for parodying US Media, is making Hollywood the obvious next stop.

Also, the V in GTAV stands for Vinewood.

I'm not really being serious here. But it is still fun speculation alien.gif

lol and a good speculation at that, at least it's unique and better than seeing everyone else pointing out the same old VC / SA crap...

Nice work on the post, few holes but yeah nice stuff, i'd laugh if it had some real relevance, but it's one of the most unlikely places for the next gta in my book.

It'd be great to see San Andreas again!

But it would be great to see a new Setting.

Yeah, Bogata may be ok.

But I think Rockstar is mainly focusing on the USA and the UK.

Bogata would be cool though. icon14.gif

There Is a big chance Bogota could be next. That guy who predicted all them things about IV and got It right, hinted Bogota and IMO It is big contender to be next.

No...........
Vinewood = Fail
I refuse for it to just be Vinewood, it is just a very small area of Los Santos.
All if SA, THEN I will approve, but not just Vinewood.

And yes, I know you not being serious, but I'm just putting my idea of it.

Nice speculation, but how is that to say that because of in game references, that San Andreas (or Vinewood) will be the next GTA location? In GTA III, there was no references relating to Vice City (that I can recall) and in Vice City, there was no references to San Andreas (that I can recall). So I guess we'll wait and see. smile.gif

If this were even true, I doubt it would just take place in Vinewood. It would probably be a reworked Los Santos, with Vinewood being one of the many areas of the city. Which I wouldn't mind. Go from NY to LA (the country's biggest cities), opposite coasts, same time period (modern day) and spoof modern day LA, because in San Andreas they spoofed early '90s LA and Los Santos itself felt a bit too small in my opinion. I'd like a completely new, much larger, more realistic Los Santos with the San Fernando Valley to the north over the "Vinewood" hills, with areas like Burbank, North Hollywood, Van Nuys, etc. Places that weren't even touched in the rendition of Los Santos from San Andreas.

San Fernando Valley

And that advertisement seen in Star Junction isn't for a film, but for a musical that would be opening in March there in Star Junction. The March reference was really an allusion to the original release date of the PS3 and PC versions of Episodes from Liberty City, which as we are all aware of was pushed back by two weeks.

So, I'm pulling for a completely new, modern day Vice City or a completely new, modern day Los Santos. Los Santos is more doubtful though seeing as Los Angeles itself was just recently used in Midnight Club: LA, and they've got LA Noire in production. I'd say out of any existing cities that could be remade, Vice City is the best bet and it seems to be the location that most fans of the series would want to see remade.

Completely wrong my friend. There was the mission in III where the guy said "See you in Miami". In VC, there were also references to SA, I just can't think of them at the moment.

I don't know why the notion that it would be set anywhere in Europe is so popular on these boards. Every GTA game since ps2 has been in America, and I really doubt they'd deviate from that trend.

That is EXACTLY why. There is a term in the industry, "innovate or die," and if Rockstar just sticks with the same formula over and over again, eventually it will become to stale to hold interest.

The past 10 or 11 GTA releases (depending) have been in the USA. (At least 7 of those have been NYC based.) Something needs to change. The easiest thing for Rockstar North to do is look in their own backyard at what they know. Seeing that they are in the UK, which is in Europe (depending on who you ask sly.gif ), it makes logical sense that they would go that route.

Hollywood is low on my places to visit. Los Angeles seems like a very sprawling, essentially boring city. Only interesting places being the gangster territories (sprawling housing projects with the occasional industrial railroad tracks), and the beach. The actual city of Los Angeles is mostly hundreds of miles of suburbs and highways...

Disneyland won't be included, because kids don't exist in GTA.

The port of Los Angeles could be interesting, and seeing some backyards with oil pumps could be cool too. Despite most people not knowing this, Los Angeles also has a suspension bridge near the port of LA.

So all in all, I feel Los Angeles/Los Santos remade has a LOT of potential, but like always they would need to condense the city to the extreme, and exaggerate quite a lot of the cities terrain (like the hilly areas), because the actual city of LA is very spread out and drab.

In most areas, LA also has absurd amounts of car traffic, and very little, if any, crowds of people in most places.

Venice Beach (with the canals like it's namesake) and the Santa Monica Pier would also be cool places.

What can I say? LA is better than Miami as far as American cities go.

Simply not true. Watch any violent movie based on the UK. That is what GTA UK would be based on anyway.

Besides, Europe isn't just the UK. There are plenty of other places they could go.

movies are a huge exaggeration, and any other major city in europe would have a language barrier. id rather see gta in SA or VC but its too soon for SA so im guessing its gonna be VC. and this guy has a point, gta aint about stabbin people, its about blastin dudes brains onto the floor

So is GTA.

III, VC and SA were basically movies and TV shows turmed into an open world game.

Goodfellas, Scarface, Boys n the hood, Miami Vice were the inspiration for those three.

Many guns in Brit crime films.

Saying that, GTA IV wasn't based on any film I know of...

Couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you.

GTA IV was designed to be like its own movie, but not based on any one in particular. That is why the opening cutscene is basically movie opening credits.
