I'd put this in the GTA V section but I am just drawing maps, not making up a game so I'm just going to put them here.
This is the first version of this map:user posted image
Using a map of Liberty City I worked my way out to include equivalents of the Bronx and Westchester counties in NY, New Jersey, eastern PA, Delaware and parts of Maryland.
As I speak I am going to sketch out basic major highways.

I'd love to but I don't have the cash for it and the only place I have accesses to photo shop lost their power today.

Well, there's always cheaper and free alternatives like GIMP, Paint.net.
Just google "photoshop alternatives" or something like that.

How would one even go about making their own maps? I find that in the past, whenever I've needed a map, I've took chunks of previous maps and just stuck them together. Horribly unoriginal and a bit tasteless to claim as your own.

I'm horribly unoriginal and a bit tasteless, what did you expect?

Heh, that's not what I mean. I'm saying it's a bit off to say "yeah, this is my map bitches" when in fact all I did is cut San Fierro in half and turn it on it's arse.

The only real criticism I can offer you is that Liberty City is the most distinguishing part of whatever form your map may take. I'm not saying it's going to be bad, but people are going to recognise the distinguishing shapes of Bohan and Algonquin instantly. That said, that comment holds no real water as it doesn't detract from your skills at all.

Hell, you got further than me. What's the map for anyway? Just a hobby or do you have further plans?

Now for stage one. The major highways running through the map.

Now to answer Masterkraft's questions about these maps.

The Liberty City map I copied and pasted from the web (the name in the corner form where I got it is still there).
The good thing about these types of maps is you can make a caricature of the landscape and get away with it.
Now about the purpose of the map, for now it's just a hobby to kill some time with, but hey you never know.

I think it's great actually. The quality isn't really good (all you need is smooth edges, download GIMP, ffs), but the idea is great. Don't you see what he's doing? He's making like the real (Rockstar equivalent) US map.

Indeed, the idea is very good. Download Gimp, familiarize with the controls and create shiz. smile.gif

Thanks for the feedback from all!
For those who want me to use GIMP I do have it but I don't find it to my liking. I dunno maybe I need better instruction on how to use it or something.
Just to make clear on what I am spoofing, this map will explain:

Looking very nice. Maybe change the color of the beaches to something more bright and yellowish.

@ The Guru: I'll look into changing the beaches into a yellow that I feel does not clash with the map color scheme or makes you want to look away in horror.

@txdeditor: I have GIMP, I just like paint.net better.

Well that is it for now, I'll get the towns up eventually but for now anyone have suggestions for towns? I seamed to have gotten the major cities in the region so maybe I'll work on small towns or the clusterf*uck known as northern New Jersey.

Last I checked it only takes 4-5 hours to travel the region I'm parodying, unless you run into traffic wink.gif

I'm going to try to get some visual aids for the new towns I created.

Now I am going to explain the new towns. I am going to continue with a numbering system from a previous image in the topic, if you don't see an area numbered refer to the previous image.
Now let's start:
user posted image
9. Asbury Park NJ
I can't find a sky shot of it but a lot of it is run down beach town from the past in a struggle to be gentrified.
10.(Typical Ocean County Beach Town)

11. Cape May NJ
Can't find a good pic for this one
12. Lews/Delaware Beach Towns

13. Camden NJ

14. Trenton NJ

15. Lancaster PA
http://pics4.city-da.../vfiles2560.jpg
http://www.rejuvenat...ccexterior1.jpg
http://activerain.co...98099858309.jpg
I'll do 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 another time because I am going to have to find a lot of pics to explain these areas.
P.S Sorry for no hyperlinks, the links were originally going to be images but I apparently broke the image limit and large posts like this drive me crazy. wink.gif

16. Staten Island
17. Long Island
Broker, Dukes expansion.
18. Bohan extension and Westchester County
19. Bergen County
20. Newark NJ
I'm going to focus more on the map for now. Sorry if you were expecting pictures.

Sorry to say folks but I'm bone dry out of ideas (for now) and this will be the last map for a while.
But as a little bonus here are the states in this map:
