Actually, SA executable has libpng v1.0.12 built into. PNGImageWriteFromRaster (0x005A4150), RtPNGImageWrite (0x007CF600) and RtPNGImageRead (0x007CF9B0) are engine leftover functions (except the first, which is unreferenced however) ready to use. The game itself has support for BMP, JPEG and PNG images.

Well be sure to pass those onto Silent, it could save him some time. tounge.gif

Amazing, thanks. I had no clue RtPNG.obj has been linked to the EXE!

EDIT:
Anyone seen a news about the mod on Steam yet? happy.gif

It was, in VC Mobile. I thought listener's SA IDB has all RW functions named and assumed RtPNG was absent. So thanks again for saving me reverse engineering the SDK or linking it with some tricks tounge.gif

Just to let you guys know as well, this isn't really the big update we was talking about, we decided to split it up and see what we could push out now as there hasn't been an update for a while. tounge.gif

Normally when I try to update the game it seems to download the update but then it doesn't actually install it. Now it says that the update service is unavailable.

Try the external updater then.

I just completed Taxi mission without any problems after update. Great.

One little map bug report. In Little Havana when you break the street lamp the broken elements are from the double lamp, not the single one. You can see it on the picture below (the update notification shows, because I'm using my custom VehicleAudioHook.xml):

I'm having the same problem as a couple of other people, the latest 5.2 mb update doesn't seem to install correctly as it always comes up to download whether done in-game or through the external updater.

Check that you don't have set VorbisFile.dll as read-only.

Same for me

Also this update makes older saves useless, that's a bit sad since I had to play a few days to gather ammo for the second mission show-off confused.gif

Unfortunately can't replicate the issue, have you guys tried removing old vorbisFile.dll from the game prior to updating*?

* Via updater.exe obviously since the game won't start without this DLL.

First PNG loading tests:

1) Compressed TXD:

File size: 65 KB

2) PNG:

File size: 24 KB

Screens may not be showing that, but the difference is HUGE. I luv that, now I understand why War Drum chose to use PNGs directly tounge.gif

It turns out Peerblock and Panda Antivirus were conspiring against me to stop the game updating. Once I turned them off I was able to update it with the external updater, thanks.

I don't see any difference, I think it's becuase of the uploading site.

The gradient is suppose to have a smooth color transition right?

Make sure you click to get the full screen versions and look around the text where DXT compression screws up.

Nvm, I see it now. biggrin.gif

My eyes were focussed on the gradients, which look similar. Now that I have taken a closer look, I can see the overall difference.

I struggeled myself with gradient backgrounds with dxt compression before with ivsa and 3rc laoding screens, so it grabbed my attention.

With hackman map I and my friends, will make LCS Port to VC Engine.

This is as much a useless idea, how to convert GTA VCS on VC Engine biggrin.gif . I will not enumerate again what has already been done by us for porting LCS on the PC, but the most complete conversion of the LCS will remain LCS PC Edition, VCS - VCS PC Edition.

Why can't LCS be on the VC era engine?

So even with this feature SA-MP is still 'able' to run in a near future? Since you're using features that are already in the game.

Ehhh, I can't say, we are using a custom storage method adapted to the engines benefits which Silent can explain later, so it's just how much SA-MP will work around our work. It'll require a bit more work compared to your normal TC that's for sure, but on the plus side, it allows us to include some extra icons in hud (formally known as .txd), so I've altered a VCS Icon so you now have a radar_modGarage since that's one of the *required* icons or most used with SA-MP or something, if not, we'll keep it spare for future use (NOT VEHICLE MODDING). We have some leaway now as HUD is now only 18kb compared to the previous 260kb and that had less icons!
