I've only read good things about the ASUS Strix and MSI Gaming X variants.

Didn't Asus f*cked it up with the Strix? Like their GPU wasn't connected to the heatsink fully?

From what I've heard from friends who use the 1080Ti, the thick heat sink on the ROG Strix 1080Ti is good at cooling the card, with a 2.5-slot design. Asus also has something they call MaxContact technology, which features an enhanced copper heat spreader that directly contacts the GPU.

The only thing I can think of that may be related to this is their fail with their 290 and 290X which used the cooler from the 780 but that was about 4 years ago.

There are some stats in this article: https://www.gamersne...-extreme-review

But pretty much all cards should run below 70 at 100% usage. Pascal is much more efficient. I'm personally probably going to get the Gigabyte Aorus version which is pretty decent in terms of cooling (actually one of the best apparently).

The VRAM temperatures are a notch higher than other vendors, as they were with the 1080 Extreme too. In the case of the 1080 I'd put that down to the fact that the Amp! Extreme ran much, much higher RAM clocks (to the tune of 500MHz) out of the box than the competitor cards. If I recall correctly the same is true of the ti- most of the competitor cards don't overclock the RAM at all.

Is Zotac Amp 1080Ti the best one? I live in the Netherlands and I usually order PC stuff on this website:

https://www.alternat...rce/GTX-1080-Ti

Oddly enough no Zotac there but there should be more webstores with more AIB.

I haven't yet, but I like what was done in this video, and it's the route I plan to go down...

I'm probably going to do something a bit different than what he does for the legs, but you really can't beat the amount/quality of desktop you get for the price you pay on one of those Ikea counter tops... Unless you use an old door you found, or something. Which I have seen people do using saw horses as legs. I mean, you can always go cheaper. It's just a question of what you can live with.

Right now I live with two tables from Office Max.

We'll be getting a few in the office for testing. I expect, our client team will have many sleepless nights fixing all the new bugs.

Yeah something like that was essentially what I was thinking of; 3m countertop cut to size, 6 or 7 legs, L brackets to secure it to the wall and a few notches cut out for cables which would be somewhere in the vicinity of £90. After looking on Ikea I'm debating just buying one of their desks (this one specifically: http://www.ikea.com/...-spr-49001965/)- it's a little shorter than I want as I was hoping for one long unit that runs about 6ft however I can use that one in conjunction with my current desk to make a shorter L desk (roughly 1ft on the corner) which will give me a little bit of storage, about £50 cheaper and is far less work than f*cking about with a jigsaw cutting out notches and all that sh*te. Also gonna need to buy some cable trunking to hide the metric clusterf*ck of cables behind the desk. Will be nice to have much more space up on top of the desk and also a plethora of space underneath.

Got my K712s today. Worth every penny. Sound quality is mindblowing for the price. I don't think you should bother with the cheaper models.

The guy who recommended those (Z Reviews) compared them to Stax, which are electrostatic headphones (Sennheiser has a $50,000 pair of electrostatic headphones which are allegedly the best speakers ever made, but Stax are not far off from that), in terms of sound detail. They really are excellent all around and they work surprisingly well on my Fiio E10K but I will have to get a better amp\DAC eventually.

They are also very comfortable. They feel like someone is gently holding their palms over your ears (it's almost like they caress your head). I think if you want the most detailed and natural sounding pair of headphones for this price ($250-ish in Europe, available on Thomann and Muziker) these are the best value. The fact that they are open makes them terrible for portable\public use but the trade off is worth it because you get better stereo imaging\sound stage, which almost give you the illusion that you are witnessing a live performance or that the sound is coming from desktop speakers.

Edit: I can hear background noise\buzz in the intro coming from the drum machine that was used in this song with the AKGs. Pretty crazy.

I'm on the server side, so I barely touch devices. But yeah, most of our engineers are maintaining an app.
