The Ballad of Gay Tony Unique Vehicles Guide

How to obtain mission-exclusive, rare, or previously thought 'undrivable' vehicles.

This guide shows all of the mission exclusive, rare, or once thought 'undrivable' vehicles. This topic uses Lancet's vehicle guide (with permission from the author) as a foundation, but has added pictures, videos, and information, as well as a completely different look compared to his. This topic will be updated whenever there is a new discovery regarding rare or unique vehicles. Also, if you feel I missed a vehicle, either PM me or just leave a comment below. If you are the person who found one of the methods to get a vehicle, and you are not listed, show me the evidence (for example an old GTAF thread, or an old YouTube video) that proves you were the one who found that method. However, I will not give any credit for a very simple method, such as the normal Caddy or the Stretch E.

Please leave some feedback smile.gif

Mission-Exclusive or previously thought 'Undrivable' Vehicles:

Cars:

Vehicle: Caddy
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

The Caddy, a golf cart, is driven in the mission 'Practice Swing'. It is only seen in this mission, and never spawns regularly on the streets. It also does not have a spawn point in Singleplayer, even though you can find it at the driving range in Free Mode online.
How to obtain:

Complete the mission "Practice Swing", never getting out of the Caddy (don’t switch to a different car when going back to Tony’s). After the final cutscene, it is right next to you.

Vehicle: Caddy (Caged)
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

The caged Caddy (a.k.a. Rocco's Caddy), a special type of Caddy that has a cage around it, is seen in the mission 'Practice Swing'. However, you never drive it and like the original Caddy, the car never spawns in free play.
How to obtain (found by adamcs):

Replay the mission “Practice Swing”, and complete the mission until the game tells you to park next to Rocco. But DO NOT PARK next to him. Instead, follow these steps:

  1. Park farther away then where the game tells you to, the parking space on the far left is perfect.

  2. Now, get out and place a sticky bomb or two on the Caddy you just got out of.

  3. Proceed to kill Rocco with the weapon of your choice, just not anything explosive. I prefer a
    SMG for this.

  4. The second Rocco is dead (a message will display saying something like ‘Rocco is dead’), detonate the sticky bomb(s).

  5. After that is done, order any car from Henrique, or simply spawn a car using cheat codes, and push Rocco’s Caddy to the main street.

  6. Call the fire department (911), and when the Fire Truck arrives, still it, and push the Caddy back to a save spot, by pushing it with the car or using the fire hose. Every now and then the vehicle will catch fire from being pushed around, and when that happens just spray it with the fire hose.

  7. Once the vehicle is safely parked within the vehicle save boundaries, drive or run about 10 blocks away, then come back.

  8. If Rocco is still in the vehicle, save the game, but DONT RELOAD YET, and repeat the previous step.

  9. If Rocco is no longer in the vehicle, and the game lets you get in the car, you can now save.

Vehicle: Stretch E
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

The Stretch E, a limousine version of the Schafter (TBoGT version), is only featured in the mission "Frosting On The Cake". It is a sportier and somewhat smaller than the original Stretch in the original GTA IV. As well as being a mission-exclusive vehicle, the Stretch E featured in "Frosting On The Cake" is also lustered.
How to obtain:

The easiest way is to play through the whole mission "Frosting On The Cake", and never change vehicles (drive the Stretch E the entire time). After the final cutscene, you will still be in the Stretch E. If you don't want to waste your time playing through the whole mission, just play up until you get in the limo with Evan. Then, drive to a vehicle save spot and kill him.

Bikes:

Vehicle: Bati Custom
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

The Bati Custom, first featured in The Lost and Damned, is in the mission “Departure Time” in TBoGT. It is a very fast racing bike, but never spawns on the streets unless you are driving one.
How to obtain:

A very easy vehicle to obtain, all you have to do is:

  1. Complete the mission “Departure Time” up until the game tells you to get a bike.

  2. Get on the bike, a Bati Custom, and simply drive it to a vehicle save location, or whatever you want to do with it.

  3. NOTE - keep in mind that you can’t save the game until the message “Bulgarin has got away” is displayed, in about 4 minutes, so don’t freak out if the game doesn’t let you save right away, it will.

Vehicle: Johnny’s custom Hexer
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

The Hexer is Johnny's (the protagonist to the 1st GTA IV DLC, The Lost and Damned) signature bike. I have heard rumors that it spawns on the streets without you riding one, but I have never experienced this, so I believe it may be false. Even if it does spawn, it won't have the same custom paint job as Johnny's.
How to obtain (found by fiis):

Replay the mission “Not So Fast”, and complete the mission up to when the game tells you to land the Buzzard you are flying on the Libertonian. But DO NOT LAND! Instead, do the following:

  1. Instead of landing the helicopter on the roof, land it somewhere out of the way, like across the street, for example.

  2. Now call the fire department (911), and when the Fire truck arrives, steal it go around to the right of the museum (if facing the entrance) and you will see Johnny’s custom Hexer.

  3. Use the fire hose to push the Hexer back to a vehicle save location.

  4. After the Hexer is safely in the vehicle safe box, drive any car, or run, about 10 blocks away.

  5. After about 10 blocks, drive back, and the Hexer will be fully repaired and driveable.

Vehicle: Skylift
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

The Skylift is the huge blue helicopter featured in the missions "Caught With Your Pants Down" and "For the Man who Has Everything". The Skylift is huge, about twice the size of an Annihilator, making it easily the biggest helicopter in GTA history.
How to obtain (Found by XTREME0235 and takadox):

Complete the mission "For the Man who Has Everything" up until the final cutscene (the one where Yusuf takes the train with the Skylift). DO NOT SKIP THE CUTSCENE. After the cutscene is over, follow these steps:
  1. Yusuf will drop you off, and you can see the Skylift fly away. After Luis says "Have fun with it", quickly take out your phone and put in the cheat for an Annihilator.

  2. Take off as fast as you can, flying backwards the first few seconds seems to do the trick, and fly as fast as you can towards Yusuf.

  3. You should see the Skylift appearing and disappearing rapidly. Once you are fully caught up with the Skylift, follow it until it stops.

  4. Once it stops, you will notice that it will start to fly backwards. Wait until it starts flying forwards again, then land your Annihilator on the nearby overpass.

  5. Take out your Advanced MG, and when you can see Yusuf, shoot the cab of the Skylift, aiming towards Yusuf's head specifically. Continue this for about 5 seconds.

  6. If you did this right, you will notice that the Skylift starts to slowly lose altitude. Once it is on the ground, Yusuf will get out. Kill him or not, it doesn't matter.

  7. Simply get in the Skylift, and you can fly it!

  8. To save the vehicle, fly it to Niko's Algonquin safehouse, and park it so that the front and right rear wheels are both within the save zone.

Vehicle: Skylift (with attached subway car)
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

You see the Skylift with the attached subway car in the mission "For the Man who Has Everything", when Yusuf takes off on it at the end. It is the same exact thing as the normal Skylift, but has a subway train attached to the bottom. However, the train acts like it’s not there: when you land a part of it goes into the ground; when you get out of the Skylift you can walk right through the Subway walls and be in its interior.
How to obtain (Found by XTREME0235 and takadox):

To get the Skylift with the subway car attached, take the same steps you would use for obtaining the normal Skylift (see above), but bear this in mind:
  1. You have to spawn and fly the Annihilator much faster than needed to get a normal Skylift. You must make sure none of the reappearing/disappearing happens.

  2. If you save it, when you go back, there will be a normal Skylift there, not one with a subway car attached.

Click here to watch a tutorial video.

Vehicle: Swift (side doors open)
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

The Swift with open side doors, a transport helicopter similar to the Maverick but with more upper-class looks, is featured in the mission "...Blog This!", and can actually be found at the West River Docks in Algonquin during the story, but after you complete the story, It is replaced by Yusuf's golden Buzzard. This means that after the story, you can no longer obtain this vehicle.
How to obtain:

Replay the mission "...Blog This!" Then:

  1. Go to the Swift labeled on the map.

  2. Kill both Tony and the Celebinator. I recommend killing Tony first, as he has way more health than the Celebinator, who is killed in 2-3 shots. After they are both dead, get in the helicopter from the passenger side, so Luis throws out Tony's body.

  3. After you fly away, the Celebinator should no longer be in the copter as well, so now you can save the helicopter at a vehicle safe location.

Click here to watch a tutorial video.

Vehicle: Swift (side door closed)
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

The Swift with closed side doors is the only one of its kind, and only featured two missions, "Caught With Your Pants Down" and a Club Management mission for Bruce Spade.
How to obtain:

Do Club Management until you get a call about Bruce Spade. Then:

  1. Go to the Swift labeled on the map.

  2. Fly it to a parking spot.

  3. The Swift disappears if you complete the whole mission, so you have to shoot it until it catches fire to fail the mission, then get a car and drive a few blocks away, before it explodes.

  4. When you come back, there should be a Swift with its side doors closed waiting for you.

Click here to watch a tutorial video.

Vehicle: Police Maverick
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

Police Mavericks have been in all of the IV-era games, IV, TLaD, and TBoGT, but there hasn’t been an easy way to get them in Single Player until TBoGT. Police Mavericks chase you when you have a high enough wanted level, and you used to have to snipe them down, and pray for the 1 in a 100 chance of it landing safely, but there is a way easier way as of TBoGT.
How to obtain:

Replay the mission “Not So Fast", and do the mission up until the game tells you to get in Yusuf’s Buzzard and fly away from the Libertonian.

•Instead of getting in the Buzzard, look to your left. There will be a helicopter landing on the same building as you. The helicopter is the Police Maverick, and all you have to do to steal it is to kill the 4 cops that get out of it, so they won't shoot you dead.

Specially Painted/Featured Vehicles:

Cars:

Vehicle: Bright blue Buffalo
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This Buffalo is colored a brighter blue than the default blue, making it unique.
How to obtain:

Replay “Bang Bang” and get in the unique blue Buffalo that you will see after the loading screen. Take it back to a vehicle save spot, and then fail the mission in whatever way you want - or finish the mission if you feel like it.

Vehicle: Bright pink Peyote
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

Cloe Parker, an in-game celebrity, owns a bright pink Peyote with Zebra-pattern seats, and is featured in a Club Management mission. The pink color used on this Peyote is unique, being brighter than the ordinary pink. It also has zebra-patterned seats, and while they are not unique to this Peyote, they are rare. Sometimes, this vehicle is lustered as well, but this is random and comes down to luck.
How to obtain:

Do Club Management missions until you get a call about Cloe Parker. Simply complete the entire mission, and after the final cutscene, the car will be right behind Luis. Drive it back to a vehicle save spot and save it.

Vehicle: Bright red Buffalo
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This Buffalo is unique because it has a bright red paintjob, different from the basic red you can see spawn when driving around. This colored Buffalo is only seen in 3 missions, "Kibbutz Number One", "This Ain't Checkers", And "No. 3"
How to obtain:

Replay either "Kibbutz Number One" or "This Ain't Checkers". Simply shoot Mori dead, open the door from the passenger side so Luis takes him out, then save the vehicle.

To get this car using the mission "No. 3", shoot Brucie dead instead of Mori, and you will still be driving the car after the cutscene.

Vehicle: Bright red Comet
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This Comet is unique because it has a bright red paintjob, different from the basic red you can see spawn when driving around. This colored Comet is only seen in 1 mission, "Ladie's Night".
How to obtain (Found by florisinfernus):

    Replay "Ladie's Night". Then:

  1. Wait for Packie to get out of the car at the end of the chase.

  2. Once Packie gets out, land the helicopter and kill Tony, failing the mission.

  3. Luis refuses to get in the car, so you have to get another vehicle and push it back to a vehicle save spot (closest one is Niko's Alderney Safehouse). Once it is in a vehicle save spot, leave the area (drive about 5 blocks away), then come back

  4. Luis should now get in the car, making it drivable.

Vehicle: Bright red F620
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This F620 is unique because it has a bright red paintjob, different from the basic red you can see spawn when driving around. This colored F620 is only seen in 1 mission, a Random Encounter mission for Daisy.
How to obtain:

Complete the whole mission, and after the mission is finished you will still be driving it.

Vehicle: Bright red Oracle
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This Oracle is unique because it has a bright red paintjob, different from the basic red you can see spawn when driving around. This colored Oracle is only seen in 1 mission, "Going Deep".
How to obtain:

Replay the mission "Going Deep". The bright red Oracle is the car you and Bulgarin hide behind, so play the mission up until you have to leave the parking garage. Just take the Oracle and escape the police with it, and after the mission is finished you will still be driving it.

Vehicle: Pink Feltzer
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This pink Feltzer, owned by none other than Gracie Ancelotti, is one of a kind. It's the only pink Feltzer in the game, and it never spawns on the streets. It is featured in the mission "Blog This...", as well as the Grand Theft Auto IV mission "I'll Take Her"
How to obtain (Found by Lancet):

    Replay "Blog This...":

  1. After you drop Tony and Gracie off at Gracie's house, you will see the pink Feltzer parked in the driveway.

  2. Unfortunately, the Feltzer is unjackable, and it is too close to the house and the sides of the driveway to get a car behind and push it, so you have to spawn a helicopter, and then fail the mission by killing both Tony and Gracie.

  3. After they are dead, use the helicopter's blades to get the car out of the driveway. Then get a car and double-drive the Feltzer back to a vehicle savespot (closest is The LOST Clubhouse)

  4. Drive away a couple of blocks, and after you come back the car should no longer be UJ.

Vehicle: Solid Black Cavalcade
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This Cavalcade, unlike normal black Cavalcades, has black rims that match it's body color. This unique color was also seen in the core GTA IV mission "Deconstruction for Beginners".
How to obtain:

Do any Drug War, and Armando will drive up to you in this vehicle. Simply drive it to a vehicle save spot, jack a different car, and continue to finish the mission. When you come back, it should still be there.

Vehicle: White Bullet GT with red stripe
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

The Bullet GT can never be found on the street with a white and red paint job, but exactly that is found in the mission “No. 3”. It is a standard white Bullet, but has a red stripe at the very bottom of the car on both sides of the vehicle.
How to obtain:

Replay the mission “No. 3” and complete the mission up until you are in the Bullet, and the game tells you to pull up behind Brucie and Mori. Pull up behind them as usual, but as soon as they start driving, abandon them (for example driving back to your safehouse instead of following them). This should trigger the message that states “You lost Mori and Brucie”. This marks mission failure, but you will still be driving the white and red Bullet GT.

Bikes:

Vehicle: Solid Black Sanchez
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This Sanchez is unique because it is all black (except for the "Sanchez" logo), unlike any other Sanchez's that spawn on the streets/with cheat codes.
How to obtain (Found by Claude4Catalina):

Replay the mission "Clocking Off". When you get to the specified location, look behind the large, metal shipping crates. Behind one group of them there should be the Sanchez.

Vehicle: White and orange Sanchez
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This Sanchez is unique because it is white with some orange parts, a color scheme that does not spawn on the road.
How to obtain (Found by killer6699 and confirmed by mincemate003):

Go to the base jump closest to the bottom of Algonquin (middle island). You will be spawned on top of a building driving the unique Sanchez. Just ride off (don’t ditch the bike in mid-air) and land. You shouldn’t die as long as you land flat. If you live, drive it to a vehicle save spot to save it.

Aircrafts:

Vehicle: Solid Black Maverick
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

The black Maverick is featured in 2 missions, "Ladies Night" and "Dropping In". It’s a black variant of the standard Maverick, but doesn’t have the white bottom that every other Maverick has.
How to obtain:

Replay "Dropping In" OR "Ladies Night". Complete the mission until the game tells you to get in the solid black Maverick. Get in the chopper like instructed, take off before Tony/Timur can get in. Once the message saying that you have failed is shown, you can save the Maverick.

Vehicles from Triathalons:

user posted image

In every one of the Triathalons, there are the same four uniquely colored cars. Just complete a Triathalon up until you have to get in the cars, and then kill an opponent. This gives you unlimited time to examine all the vehicles and decide which one you want to take and save.

Cars:

user posted image

Golden yellow Comet

This Comet is golden yellow, while the usual yellow Comet is just plain yellow.
user posted image

Redish pink F620

This F620 is redish pink, while the usual red F620 is a redish orange.

user posted image

White Comet with pink luster

This Comet is white, with a pink luster. No normal Comets spawn in white, or with pink luster.
user posted image

Green Bullet with black stripe

This Bullet is green with a black stripe along both sides at the bottom. Out of the normal Bullets that spawn in green, none spawn with a stripe.

Online FreeMode exclusive vehicles:

Cars:

Vehicle: Police Stinger
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This is a brand new type of police car, a modded version of the Presidente with a very bright paint job. It is very fast, almost as fast as an Infernus or Comet.
How to obtain:

In an online FreeMode match, go to either the Leftwood or East Holland police station (Map at the bottom of this post). It should be parked outside in a parking space.

Vehicle: Police Cruiser (Buffalo version)
user posted image

Vehicle Info:

This version of the Police Cruiser, despite being named the same, is very different than the normal Cruiser seen offline. It is essentially a F.I.B. Buffalo with the same paint job
How to obtain:

In an online FreeMode match, go to either the Leftwood or East Island City police station (Map at the bottom of this post). It should be parked outside in a parking space.

Bikes:

Terms:

Vehicle save-spot: These are specified parking spaces that you can use to store your vehicles, so they don't disappear after leaving the area, and then coming back. You can use any of Niko's or Johnny's vehicle save-spots as well as Luis's to save vehicles.

Click here for a map of all the vehicle save-spots

Luster: Some rare vehicles have a paint effect know as a 'luster'. A luster is a secondary color that can only be seen well in certain light.

Right now, there are six luster colors known to appear in-game: red, blue, green, yellow, purple, and orange. Orange, purple, and red are the most visible, but it depends on the lighting, time of day, base car color, and the vehicle that it is applied to. Vehicles that have this affect are sometimes found in traffic, although that is rare. They are featured in some missions, but mostly Drug Wars.

Unjackable (UJ for short): Even though you can steal every vehicle on the street by breaking the window, then hotwiring the car, you are not able to do this with some mission-exclusive vehicles. Luis will simply refuse to break the window, or if the window is already broken, he will refuse to open the door.

This means that you will have to get another car and push the unjackable vehicle back to a save vehicle spot, then leave the area and come back. After this is complete, Luis should get in the vehicle.

Double-Driving: If a car is UJ, you have to get another car and use it to push the UJ vehicle back to a savespot. This is called Double-Driving.

A different version of Double-Driving is the Firetruck Method. You can use the hose on top of the Firetuck to move vehicles without the fear of catching them on fire. You can also put out a fire with the hose.

I gave him permission to translate my guide into a more forum-friendly format (with tables and especially pictures). He said he's gonna add credit information (for who devised strategies and found the vehicles), but probly didn't get around to it yet.

O, oke. Nice.

I still wonder what happens when you get in the Swift with side doors closed with A and H with you. I will do the club management missions some day but not for about a week or so probably.

Yeah, I got permission from Lancet as you already know. I put a little something in the opening paragraph about him, but I guess I should add more.

I also gave you credit for the red Comet icon14.gif

O, oke. Nice.

I still wonder what happens when you get in the Swift with side doors closed with A and H with you. I will do the club management missions some day but not for about a week or so probably.

I just tried this. The closed door Swift is a 2-door vehicle, not a 4-door. Armando gets in, but Henrique won't, so it can't be used for friend events.

The Brickade isn't a rare vehicle, it is a vehicle impossible to get unless you mod your game.

^^^Yeah, that's why I left it out. But I still have to add another section listing all the vehicles you currently can't get, and I might include that.

Btw, to append my Swift post:

ALL Swifts are 2-door vehicles. Even an open-door Swift won't let Henrique get in. I decided to test this when I realized that it was strange the game would allow for the Swift being 2-door only if the doors were closed like that.

That's weird, I guess they just made it like that so the game wouldn't get confused and glitch like having Henrique sit through a door tounge.gif

On a random off-topic note, I just thought of a pointless, yet awesome idea: Skylift + Drugwars. Hell yeah! cool.gif

Nice, now I will definitely get the version with the doors closed because it is just as practical and more beautiful.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

@florisinfernus:

Yeah, the closed Swift looks way better IMO than the open one. Also, Is the closed-door Swift the only helicopter in IV (not including the Skyllift) that has no opening in the side?

The Peyote with the zebra seats can be found anywhere. Not all Peyote's have them but some do and some don't. It's not a rare occurrence.

It has a bright pink paint job as well. That's the only photo I found, and I don't have a capture card, so I can't take a picture of the actual vehicle.

Yes, as far as I know it is.

Edit: If the Swift is a 2 person vehicle, then how can the Celebrinator get in...?

Hes not actually sitting in there like say a person on XBL would be, hes in the middle of the chopper, his feet aren't hanging out, etc.

These would be worth obtaining if you didn't get screwed over by the parking spot bandits.

Finally had time to play around with this topic, I blame the holiday season tounge.gif

Thanks for the bump, and I just added a "Drug War Vehicles" section, hopefully I can get my hands on some screenshots of them. If not, I'm getting a HD capture card for Christmas and then I can take them myself.

You can get "lustered" F620's and Presidente's too in drug wars.
I've got both in gay blue with pink/purple "luster"

^^^ Yeah, I've seen them, but I don't think they have special paintjobs. If someone can prove otherwise, I'll add them.
