Las Venturas as depicted in San Andreas was kinda shoddy. Many of the best casinos were missing, and even more importantly, most of the existing ones had no insides!
Fremont Street was missing, MGM Grand was nowhere to be found, and the thousand foot (~300m) Stratosphere didn't exist!
The Luxor (the pyramid) was much smaller than it's real life counterpart, and the impressive interior wasn't included:
Las Venturas also didn't have the monorail, or the moving sidewalks that connected many of the casinos. The city also lacked the foot and vehicle traffic.
The interiors of the available casinos in San Andreas were small compared to the real thing. In Las Vegas, the gambling/entertainment/shopping areas are vast:
I'm not saying that Vegas is the best city ever, if I could have my way I'd have it in Tokyo or London. But it is impressive, and there is (or used to be) a heavy mafia presence. It's also ripe for bank/casino heists, nightlife, and dumping bodies out in the surrounding desert

Las Venturas threads already exist, but they all seem to be focused on story, and lists of vehicles/weapons.
This thread is about the actual city, hence the presence of glossy pictures
My family visited in 2006. I don't know the history, besides the Mafia having a presence at some point. But perhaps in the gta world the organized crime is still influential
ScratchCard, do you mean the idea of a land-locked world instead of an island? If they made Venturas, but then made half a mile of desert around it, that just drops off into the ocean, it would be lame!
They need to just make a massive 50 mile by 50 mile patch of Nevada desert, and then put the 3 mile by 3 mile Vegas in the center. I'm not sure what would be at the end. A "turn back" sign would be mildly annoying, but having desert drop off into the ocean would be infinitely worse.
ScratchCard, what are the names of the threads that discuss boundaries?
MyDog, I agree I'm thinking an Ocean's Eleven heist, but perhaps it goes wrong, and it turns into a Heat-esque battle through the sun-baked streets. Or perhaps the madness begins on the actual casino floor! Seeing hundreds of tourists fleeing, and having SWAT raiding the place at the same time. It could be quite disorienting
W1ckeD-, thank you for the nice response too!
