Bullet For My Valentine, weren't too bad on their first few songs. But they pretty much grew into the same sh*tty mainstream sh*t-metal bands.

Who care's if they're emo or not, all that matters is they suck. And all the f*cking tryhard metalheads wear their t-shirts and sh*t and probably haven't even heard of Death.

Disgrace.

Just because their music is classified as metalcore doesn't mean it isn't emo, metalcore is a genre, emo is a classification, a grouping it has been placed in because of it's blatent similarities to emo (or scene) culture. The whole classification of emo is based on a stereotype and BFMV fit into that stereotype to a tee so they are therefore considered emo.

Not to mention the fact that they are utter garbage, but I'll leave that at that.

No, this isn't emo. Emo, or emotive hardcore, pretty much has nothing to do with metal or metalcore whatsoever. I was an offshoot of hardcore that sprouted out in the late 80s/early 90s that included cathartic crescendos and had emotional lyrics. Bands like Rites of Spring, Indian Summer, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Embrace are pretty decent examples of early emo. But whatever, ignore history and call it whatever the f*ck you want if that's your prerogative.

I honestly don't care that ppl call my favorite band emo.

And, ewhen if they would be emo, I could not stop listening to them.Because to me,they are the best band ewer!,they songs are just awersome.

and just because someone don't like they music, song lyrics,or the appearance of that band. Then, they hawe no right to say that they suck. Ewery band has his own style and music.

My Chemical Romance have been branded with the fashion label of emo, which is a complete perversion of what the term initially was, by the ignorant. Emo was originally an off-shoot of punk music, and later indie in the 90s, however sometime in the 00s, it somehow came into use as a sometimes deregoratory term given to a god awful teenage dress style and some mainstream pop music. Bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, Commander Venus, and Pinkerton-era Weezer are what would have been considered emo before the term became horribly and vastly misused.

My opinion:

Bullet For My Valentine is NOT a emo band, they are a metalcore band.

they music is NOT emo, It's Emotional Metalcore.

Emotional Metalcore = The same as Metalcore, but more emotional.

Metalcore or Emotional Metalcore is NOT the same as EMO.

--> Any Questions? wink.gif

EDIT: I Agree,My Chemical Romance is emo. turn.gif

EDIT2. This emo thing is complicated as hell. sneaky2.gif

If they suck or not, meh, they are ok.
I'd honestly go with what Moonshield said though as far as describing them.

One thing's for sure though, that is a badass kit the drummer has in the first video that was posted.

Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. MCR is just a pop rock band that happened to get labeled 'emo' due to their style.

Obviously if the term has been widely used in that context for a long time, it's not the correct context. The meaning of words changes all the time, emo used to refer to the offshot of punk music that you're referring to, but not it refers to kids with messy hair who wear skinny jeans.
