Grand Theft Auto: Paradise City takes place present day in a fictional city in the USA. Though it is not necessarily in any particular state, the environment of it is a mix between the deserts of San Andreas and the beaches of Vice City.
You play as Marco Vargas (Marc for short), a 26 year old Costa Rican male. Marco isn't your typical GTA character, as he is more than just a criminal. He is a motor sports and stunt performer, who races Rally car/boat, F1 cars, Blue Bull Air Races, and of course base jumping. You can say he is an extreme sportsman by day and a criminal by night. You may ask why bother making him an extreme sportsman but I will explain that later on.

Paradise City is a fantastic place to live. It is actually divided West-side and East-side by a river. The East-side contains the very high class section of the city, such as the main downtown, government buildings, casinos, as well as the 5-Star beachfront hotels.
While the west-side isn't as modern and nice as the east-side, it is still very pretty. However some parts on the west-side are home to a few local gangs that are always fighting each other.
These gangs are the Mexican gang, the Black gang, and the rednecks. The Mexican gang and the Black gang are fighting about drugs mostly, while the redneck gang are fighting both because they are racist.

Places to note:
: The Grand Prix race track. This is where people can race legally. Marco competes here often.
: Turtle Lake. Being so close to East Paradise, it is a popular spot for many activities, such as boat races, fishing, etc.
: The beachfront hotels. You will find the richest of the rich here, as well as gorgeous babes.
: Glory Holes golf course. Where the rich and famous come to enjoy their weekends.
: The desert. Contains everything a desert has.. including sand dunes (a popular place for motor bikers and ATVers), as well as a mountain range to at the northeast. Also contains many places where Rally Car Events are held. Marco is a regular here.
: A dormant volcano. A popular tourist destination.
: An inlet where people come to ride their boats, as well as the location for one of the Blue Bull Air Races. The airport to the west is where the pilots take off.
: More desert, also known as no-man's land. Except of course when the other Blue Bull Air Race is being held here.
: Another inlet, also used as a location for Blue Bull Air Races. This one is within view of the city skyline, so fans don't need to travel far.
: Suburbs. Where middle to upper-class live if not in an apartment in the city.
: The Paradise Aeronautics and Space Administration (PASA) center. Home to the nation's space program, it contains all sorts of high-tech equipment. Maybe a jet-pack? Who knows...
: Fort Green, a military base. Contains a runway for fighter jets, as well as Apache Helicopters and tanks. Its not very pleasant when they come after you.
: Paradise Luxury Cruise ship. This massive ship is docked just off the edge of East Paradise.
: East downtown Paradise. One of the nicest urban areas on the planet.
: Rapiér Park. A large wooded park for people to come and enjoy the nature. Rumor has it that there is a man who hides in the bushes and jumps at you with a knife at night...
: More suburbs.
: The trailer-park north of West Paradise. It is home to the Rednecks.
: Countryside with small mountain ranges. A great place to hike, or ride your motorbike.

WATERCRAFT AIRCRAFT SPECIAL

Marco used to be a millionaire. He had a perfect penthouse, luxury cars, and a nice fat bank account. That all changed when he invested money into the wrong business, and got scammed out of every last penny. He had to sell about every one of his material objects in order to continue living in his home, but after a while he completely ran out of money and lost that as well. He had so much anger that he realized he no longer cares about money, but about getting revenge on the man who did this to him.
And that would be Karl Magnusson, a Swedish investor but more importantly an extremely influential black marketeer. He is essentially the head of all the black market activity in Paradise City, including weapons, drugs, and counterfeit money. He also owns shares in many of the businesses around the city, so there are a lot of people who are willing to protect him and his money.

Types of missions include:
Throwing(purposely losing) some of the extreme sport events that Marco competes at, in order to help someone who is betting on it win said bet in exchange for their help. Or perhaps you will choose to win the race to keep your dignity, but making it harder to reach your final goal (revenge).
Sneaking aboard a cruise ship (either by boat or parachuting from a plane) while it is in the middle of the ocean, in order to take someone out.
Helping out businessmen's "special interests". This includes everything from breaking someone out of jail by becoming a fake cop, kidnapping people, blowing up the building of a rival business, and even becoming a bounty hunter.
Helping out one of the three gangs; helping the Black gang they will provide you with strength (call them for some bodyguards), helping the Mexican gang will allow you to do drug deals for them and earn money, and helping out the Redneck gang allows you to use some of their special weapons (such as a chainsaw).
In one mission, a farmer needs help destroying a rival farmer's crops. But going and lighting them on fire won't do, as the fire could spread and ruin his crops as well. You agree to help him by flying his crop-duster airplane, but fill it with a chemical that will kill his crops instead of pesticide.
Side missions of course include participating in F1 car and boat races, Rally and motocross races, and Blue Bull Air Races. Depending on your place in the event it will net you a varying sum of money. Other side missions include the usual; drug dealing, car stealing, etc.

So you probably wonder why I felt the need to make Marco an extreme sports guy. Well to put it simply, I've been watching the show Nitro Circus on MTV and love it, and thought it would be awesome to have a character in a GTA game that could do the same stuff that they do on that show. It also makes sense to make him this, instead of just some random guy who goes and flies planes and speedboats and dirt-bikes, seeing how you would actually need to be a professional to do those sort of activities. I guess it would add a bit of realism to the whole situation.
I will add more to this, such as more music for the radio, more mission details, and possibly a very detailed map including all roads, buildings, special vehicle locations, etc.
If you have any questions about anything don't hesitate to ask, or if you have some ideas to add then please do so, and of course posts your thoughts!
