Looking much better now, love it, really. smile.gif But I think the rear has kinda the same problem + the rearwindow is too much curved on the lower end:

That will be the best god damn Caprice in GTA history! icon14.gif
If you model that structure of the taillight lenses, it will be much better.

Can't wait to see more progress, esp with textures on that sexy b-body inlove.gif

Edit:
I think the curving of the hood to the windshield (where the wipers are) isn't right. That influences the shape of the windshield too.Maybe you take a closer look at that area.

Thanks for pointing that one out. I Didn't have a good shot of the top (until now), so I have to make a wild guess. The top part of the windscreen isn't curvy enough, but the bottom part looks ok except the the hood part curves too much. Since im modeling without any blueprints, I have to eyeball (occasionally, using my finger ) thats why im taking too long biggrin.gif

I'll get 'em fixed as well, we work together and we try to make this car as faithful to the original as possible wink.gif

edit: The tailight on 1993, i'm thinking about normal mapping it (the 1991 might need to model the lens though), as well as the groves on hubcaps, the seats and maybe the AC vents. I haven't mastered the photo shop normal map plug ins..

edit again: If normal mapping frustrates me that leaves me no choice but to model them biggrin.gif

For now, yes, the I was so exhausted with the LTD (modeling is 90% complete) I still have to detatch a lot of them.

This caprice is amazing ! Great to see that people are still making HQ cars from scratch for SA. I wasnt reading all of the previous posts, so I'm sorry if this question was given earlier, will there be a police version ? smile.gif

Well, I think he wanna model it for GTA IV only at the moment, not sure if hes planning some san andreas version, too. He wrote there will be a cab and police version, there just has to be one, its a Caprice! lol.gif

Wow. Amazing model!! But I can see you are modeling two diffrent years of the caprice.
Are you also going to make it into a Impala SS?.

Also, what is the plans for the future? any more plans for any muscle cars?
if you need reference pics I got an Olds 442 '69 and a Nova '69 IRL. I also have a friend who has a Dodge Charger '69 , a Challenger '71 and a Buick GS Prostreet.

I realy hope someone here starts to make Cars for GTAIV soon. Right now I all russians and eastern europeans have the lead on this. I've heard that the easiest way is to import a car from IV and use it as a template for the other car.

keep up the great work!!! icon14.gif

Well I can see that too schaefft but maybe part of that may also be the fact, look @ the 3rd window there, it has a sharp edge @ its lower right corner whereas in your pic even, that edge is not there

Yeah I know, thats one of the main differences between the 1991-94 and the 95/96 models. But still, it doesnt look completly accurate back there, even if you compare it to the Caprice with that triangle window. smile.gif

k, I was just thinking that that is a larger window overall and might had an effect either in production or in his judgment whilst he is tryin to model it smile.gif Either way I like the car but I know you are perfectionist on these tounge.gif

Sorry guys for the confusion. I changed my mind and I decided to relase the car on GTA4 first before SA, since majority of new mods are made for GTA iv, im just riding through the wind of change. In addition, I want to learn how to get a car into GTA4 (putting it on SA is fairly easy and ill try to get them in tandem)\

That would be cool, since I don't own a GTA4 copy.I don't even own the right system to run it confused.gif
Can't wait to rape the tires with some burnouts! sly.gif

Oh and for the next pics...please add a plane under the wheels. It makes the car look more realistic. Now it floats.

Works for me, GTA IV modeling is definitely where it is at! Now that my wife has a computer fast enough (core i7, HD4870 video) to run it, I had to buy a copy, and I'm very impressed at some of the models for it as well as the SA conversions that have popped up so far! This will be a great addition to the game when it is done and I'm holding off on changing out police/taxi models until it is ready. I might change all my GTA IV cars to 90s models!

Great job so far, everything looks great, and the detail is perfect!

Dont know, im working with 3 cars, so after that im going to take a break biggrin.gif

I still dont know how to port a car to GTA4 confused.gif lots of catching up to do.

I fixed the problem but im still checking the reference making sure they are good enough smile.gif I am adding more detail to the engine and made a lot of tweaks on the rear end.

Sorry for lack of update, I been in solitary confinement for a while. I also made a lot of changes to the car. I also start modeling a NYPD police car. Poly count reaches 52K and 53 on cop car variant so far few models i have to do.

Update, Before I go to sleep, I been working UV's using old school 1993 NYPD paintjob. Couldn't find the proper font for the side and used the closet i can find. The front text came from a photograph and cleaned it up.
