Thanks for spotting it schaefft.

This is so dumb this should never happened, I am short of one bar horizontally I count the bar carefully before modeling and still. I confirm the pics and the bars are 7 verticals and 5 horizontal. I got only 4 horizontal! biggrin.gif

I may have to redo it , just the bar moving vertices will ruin the perfectly symetical lines biggrin.gif (actually it easier than it looks anyway)

@ costar The car that I saw its just a cloth top. The hard top one looks nice tho.

Edit: When I am redoing the grill, I found a grisly discovery. I in fact counted the bar as 5, but when I put the value in the 3D program, it gave me 4 lines and i did not confirmed it. Now looks a lot better ill post screens soon.

Teh Canadian mastermind is back in action...eh!

Your cars are in the top league.Really I love and appreciate them.
The Caprice is one of my alltime favorites.Just like schaefft, I'm a crazy fan for that last Caprice generation.
I did this car too for SA, but a bit more lowpoly. If you need refs, I will send you my stuff. No problem.
No offense to SPC, but mine is even more accurate modeled biggrin.gif

@Tol@te Nice car, more accurate than my '96 Caprice 9C1 (released in early 2004)

@schaefft You mention about movies...I remember watching Another Steakout with Emilio Esteves and Richard Dreyfuss they are driving a Mercedes coupe.

@bigfoot2003: Thank your for the compliment!

@schaefft: Well, I try to come back.I'm back on my '60 Biscayne, but don't tell!
For the Caprice...well,I like it.The materials suck but the whole spec and polyflow is crap too.

If I can afford it,I will buy a new PC soon plus GTA 4.After that I will see what I wanna do.
Modeling is still a nice little hobby.
I don't promise anything.

Actually I am planning to re-model my 1989-90 caprice, but schaefft asked me do 1991-93 one. Beleive me I am chickened out, curvy cars is pretty scary to do (to much for my primitive mind)

Do the 1989-1990 Caprice, please!!!!!!!
There is no good model of that car anywhere. All I can find are low-poly models with not so good textures!
Please do that one too!!!!

I actually model a low poly 1989 caprice and a marginally better 1983 impala. The pumbars made one and that is the best one so far as far as accuracy. I may do them in the future, but not soon.

@schaefft when I looked back on my 96 caprice and I said to my self "it really sucks" that what makes me do another one.

@tol@te the more we model the better we observe. We can learn a bit from burner who can model without blueprint.

I <3 pumbars' 1983 Impala. I have it set as Admiral in VC so it's the very first car I see and I can almost always find one since the Admiral is so popular around many parts of VC. At least around the Beach!

This car is coming along VERY nicely and the attention to detail is astounding! I'll be very interested to see it and any variants (93, 95-96, Impala SS, maybe a wagon? Roadmaster? Custom Cruiser wagon?) you come up with!

primarily a 1993 and then a 1991 (civilian and 9c1). I have no time for the 1996, wagon or impala variant.

Well, browsing throught google streetview I see more roadmasters than caprices on the streets. Wouldnt it be awesome if there was a new Caprice made by GM? I still dont understand why they discontinued cars like these, nobody can tell me that they made more money with their SUVs than the Caprice as popular fleet vehicle. I mean, after like 12 years Ford is still selling their CrownVics, design wise pretty much unchanged since 98, seems like they didnt change the look of it because didnt have to, seems like there are more than enought people buying them. Why shouldnt GM have a car like that?

@bigfoot: Loving the car as much as me, I have to see things like that. lol.gif

Btw I know theres some Chevy Caprice based on the Holden Statesman sold in the middle east, but its kinda not the same. whatsthat.gif

Rumor a while ago, a new impala based on Holden commodore (Pontiac G8) with large V8 is coming up around 2011then GM canned it and they blamed it on fuel economy regulation (insert bullsh*t here).

Ford also negotiated with Ford of Australia to replace the Panther with Falcon based RWD sedan then for some reason it never fly.

In united States, road masters are probably a common sight, in Canada they are very rare. However, Crown Victoria's are pretty common because they are Canadian made and you can get one for about $1500CAD from government auction.

It has now been announced that its a good chance the the new holden caprice/statesman will be re-badged and released in the U.S as a new Chevrolet Caprice but will only be available for Police at the start (More info just google Holden Caprice or Chevrolet Caprice)

Maybe you could model one of these next.... Just a suggestion

Yes ..Not only a good chance, It will be. I've seen it early this week. It will comes with a Corvette engine and it will be much more powerful than the 4.6 Crown Vics. Ford will stop their line production for the Crown Vics when the new Caprice arrive. There will be no taxi version in pre release like the previous Caprice. Only the police car version.

I saw it on the news the other night and they told us all the details which you can find on any site when googled.

Good to hear the Caprice is making a comeback. Makes sense about not offering taxi cab variants. The future on V-8 large taxi cabs are getting grimmer. The city are now in process of passing fuel economy rules on cabs (specially NYC ) We could see more taxis with four cylinder, electrics and Hybrids in the future rather than mighty v-8 sedans like we used to. Ford for instance is possibly offering a taxi variant on European built Transit connect.

Thanks everyone, I just started doing the undercarriage and those internal. Modeling is tiresome so im not going to fully model the engine or undercarriage, without making look sparse or incomplete (this could be tough for me) More screen shots as soon as i made significant progress. So hopefully this move will keep my p

@Sam1970 Thanks smile.gif

@brendan Lol, never own one so no horror stories to tell biggrin.gif (though Pontiac G8 looks really good)

Looks like this car is going to be a GTA4 native (forcing me to learn how to port on GTA4) and there will be NYC taxi, NYPD police (1993 paintjob) and plain jane one (low end model not the fancy one).

Fixed the wonky fender arch, add stuff behind bumpers and lots of minor details on the interior. There is no point o post screenshot with minor changes

Damn, how could I miss this update <_< Model looks great, really love the shots of the 91 Caprice inlove.gif . But theres something Ive noticed, Im not sure if its just the perspective or lack of reflections or whatever, but the upper part of the front fender seems to be too high or fat or not curved enought, I dont know. I tried to show it with those red lines but its hard to explain.

user posted image user posted image

Cant really tell where the problem is, maybe you wanna post some large wire shots of that area. Its too high I guess, compare it to the top end of that part where the mirror of the 94-96 cars should be. I dont know confused.gif

The 95/96 caprices (shown on the photo) have different 3rd side windows than the 91-94 ones (model). smile.gif

You mean, that place is too flat, but it has to be more aerodynamic.

Is it me, or BigFoot's caprice looks taller than it should be?

The front end is a little boxy, The shape around the fender corner is a little squarish. I am fixing right now.
