Ok, so I've been thinking of a story line taking place in Ireland

The Areas:

Green Lake (Dublin aka Black Pool) City where you start
South Green Lake-Green Lake south of the Life River, less crime than North Green Lake

North Green Lake- Green Lake North of the Life River

Fiberslope (Sligo)

Plug (Cork)

It was a cold, rainy night, this May,17 2007, as 22 year old Patrick Fennely walked out of his local pub, in the Irish city of Green Lake. Nobody to be scene, except for a black Mercedes speeding past him, on Connly Street, one of Green Lake's busiest roads. He knew that a mob, called the "Black Shamrocks" true those types of cars, but didn't think too much of it. Until he saw a Garda car speeding past him, then another. Following those two Garda cars was two fire trucks, as well as an ambulance. As he continued walking he could see the blue lights flashing off sides of buildings, just one street after his. He decided to pass his street, and continue to Clover Street, one block past him, where all of the commotion was. He just went to check up on his old friend, Terry.

Terry Patrick were best friends during their childhood, but into their teenage years, Terry was having family troubles, and began getting caught up in the Black Shamrocks' rival gang, the (Haven't come up with name yet). They lost contact, because Patrick didn't want to get involved in any gang related happenings. He walked past the Garda road block, to see the fire brigade, putting out Terry's fully involved apartment. Two firefighters came out with a gurney, on top of it was a body covered by a white blanket. It was put in the back of the ambulance, the ambulance drove away. That is when Patrick realized, "I've just lost a best friend".

You wake up, the rain is gone, but the clouds have yet to clear, you turn on your TV, to the news channel:

"Our top story today, another gang attack on South Green Lake today, leaves one dead, and multiple apartments burned on Clover street. The body has been identified as 23 year old Terry Brennan. Garda says that Brennan has been involved in a gang, and that the evidence support that this was an attack by Brennan's rival gang, the Black Shamrocks. The Garda is releasing no more information at this time, they say more will be available once their investigation is complete."

Patrick turned off the TV, trying to be a man and hold back the tears, as he goes into his closet, and opens a safe. He pulls out a small handgun. "I'd hoped that I'd never have to use this." He said. He ran out to his car To go to a pub, owned by the (Whoever the black shamrocks rival gang is) He walked into it. The workers gave him a nasty look, as patrick nervously walked up to the bar. Show me the Leprechaun's bedroom. The bartender nodded his head. and whispered, go to the door that says "Employee Restroom". He went in. And that is where he joined the mob, to get revenge on the black shamrocks.

The first missions are initiation type missions with tutorials, and they get harder as you become a more trusted and active mob member.

An extra thing to make PS3 users happy, is that to get to the sixaxis tutorial, you have to go into the start menu, so that it is no longer in your way on the mobile phone.

Yeah, That's what I expected. There's probably also a bit too much police usage, for example, why would the garda be escorting a taxi? But I'll have more posted later.

Well if it was Ireland, it would have to be Belfast, eh? There's no city in Ireland as bad as it.

As someone who lives in Ireland, I have to say that I really wouldn't like a GTA set here. Firstly, Dublin is a tiny city, especially after just coming out of Liberty City, it's basically a village in comparison. Then there's the issue of the illegality of guns, and the fact that crime isn't as diverse here as in America. Most of the criminals are just scum with shaved heads and incomprehensible accents, people you cross the road to avoid with little to no class. Ireland isn't a terribly interesting country. It's just a few small cities separated by a lot of generic scenery. I don't know how a game developer would make it any more interesting, and believe me, the accents would drive you completely insane after a while. I'd personally much rather a game set in London or another large city if it were to leave America.

That's if they could pull off the accents. It's really annoying watching actors protraying an Irish character and sounding nothing like anyone in Ireland.

@YoungJoe94 Belfast isn't a bad city anymore, compared to ten or twenty years ago. Although a guy at my work today was saying it is the most racist city in the world.

I think gta ireland would be nice if you were going through dublin or belfast and seeing places you know.

Well actually Belfast would be a better city than dublin to have it.We irish could just as mush say they American accent is hard to understand. And no they mostly arent scum with shaved heads.Lets face it your talking a load of Bullsh*t.

Derrick was in the Provisional IRA and it would be great to do a mission with the PIRA.

Also rockstar could make 2 cities,Dublin and Belfast.Maybe at the start your in belfast and the cross the border over to northern ireland.

That would be pretty awesome, the two cities angle. I am also Irish (well, second generation Irish-American... not the same, I know. =( ), and would love to see this. Xeon, that IS a load of bullsh*t. My grandfather was an off-the-boat Provo (which is considered criminal by those loyal to oppressors), and he sure as hell wasn't some bald headed scum.

I think it'd be very interesting. If not set actually IN Ireland, which would be preferred, then maybe set in an offshoot of Boston, MA or maybe Providence, RI. Both of those American cities have very large Irish populations, and could make for an interesting storyline that could easily be connected with GTA 4 via the McReary's.

I hope you're referring to the post-1922 IRA and not those that fought in the Easter Rising for Irish independence (which in my book are heroes.)

As for the proposed story; I would prefer if none of the major characters from IV came over. It's not that I don't like the characters, it's just that I hate whenever you have to try desperately to somehow link the games together when some of the characters obviously don't fit. Just because the games are in the same canon doesn't mean that EVERY character should cross over.

I would find it much more interesting if it was set in a heavily Irish city in the U.S. (Boston, New Orleans, Chicago, etc.) Crime in these cities are much more common than in any other Irish city (with the possible exception of Belfast).
