With the GTA San Andreas GX Editor , you can load the american.gtx and search for "comet" and change it's entry to "Porsche". icon14.gif

There is no GTA IV GXT Editor made yet, and the GTA San Andreas GXT Editor works perfectly with GTA IV's .gxt's wink.gif

I tryed to do that, and found what i was looking for.
I change it to "Cayman S", but it wont save it.

(I need to press Save AS", and then just overwrite the file)

I did that, and go ingame. But there was still standing "Comet" :s

Ok seems to be a little issue.
So if you change "comet" into "Porsche Cayman S" and then click on the left were it still says comet. And the entry will change and you can save. icon14.gif

HI

I am also trying to rename some replaced cars. Using SA GXT Editor, I've located/replaced every instance of the word comet with cayman s (made the file writable/ definitely made sure I was replacing the word/ definitely saving the file, etc.). However, when I load game and hop in it still says "COMET". What gives???

Can it be, that with the newest patch 1.0.0.4 the SA Editor will not edit the .gxt files?

I only have Values with one letter like "B" or signs like "~"

I cannot edit the .GXT files any more since I updated GTA IV to 1.0.0.4

Is there a new editor or is there anybody who can tell me how to edit now the carnames?

Maybe the carnames are take from the handling file? or the vehicles.ide?

Regards

I also am unable to find car names let alone change their names using GXT editor. Anyone with some experience in this area? Thanks.

I use X GXT editor, I have been modding GTA IV for coming up two weeks odd now.

You should be ashamed of yourselves if you cannot use your own intellect to figure this out.

As people have stated all you have to do is open a file search for the name you are looking for in the MAIN section, then change it.

I have been able to modify old car names as well as add new ones...

Also, there's no need to edit american.gxt
If you use CLEO Library, you can create CLEO\CLEO_TEXT\vehicles.fxt
Put names like this:

AT400 Boeing 737 LOT
ELEGY BMW M3
HOTKNIF Talbot Lago T26C
PCJ600 Aprilia RSV4
NRG500 Suzuki GSX-R600
WAYFARE Hexer
SANCHEZ Yamaha YZ250F
HAYABUS Suzuki Hayabusa
BUSX3GL Designx-X3 bus
BAGX3GL Designx-X3 trailer
GXT labels of IDE vehicle entries should correspond to names from FXT file.
Remember not to use GXT labels longer than 7 characters.
